Former Orange Juice blogger finally tells Red County readers that Lewis endorsed a Democrat

Red County readers finally know that GOP consultant John Lewis has endorsed Democrat Tom Daly

The countdown is finally over.  After three long weeks Red County readers finally know that former State Senator John Lewis, who is a GOP consultant, has endorsed Democrat Tom Daly over conservative Republican Shawn Nelson, in the race to replace outgoing Orange County Supervisor Chris Norby.  But Red County editor Matt/Jubal Cunningham wussed out of this story altogether. Instead, our former blogger, Chris Emami, was the one to “break” this story on Red County.

And Emami is not happy about Lewis’ decision to screw his party over.  Emami had this to say about Lewis’ betrayal:

“Tom Daly- It looks like he is the best chance for the Democrats to win back this seat. He does have the endorsement of former Senator John Lewis and that is a big deal. On top of that he is also the former Anaheim Mayor which will give him high name id in this race. I want to preface what I am about to say by clarifying that I like John Lewis and Matt Holder and think that they have done a great deal of good for the OCGOP, however I really wish they had chosen to support either of the two Republicans for this race, losing this seat to the Democrats would be a huge step back for the Republican Party.”

Emami wrote about some of the candidates to replace Daly, but he forgot about the wild card that is Anaheim Councilwoman Lorri Galloway.  Her presence in this race is a real problem for Daly, who also has to contend with Anaheim Councilman Harry Sidhu.  Simply put, there are too many Anaheim based candidates in this race.  And that is good news for Nelson, who is a Council Member in Fullerton.

Kudos to Emami for finally telling Red County’s readers about Lewis’ abandonment of principles – and a big raspberry to Jubal for being so completely gutless that he sat on this story for almost a month.
