“Mexico is one of two countries that “bear consideration for a rapid and sudden collapse,” according to a report by the U.S. Joint Forces Command on worldwide security threats,” according to the El Paso Times.
The ongoing drug war in Mexico is a disaster. The drug lords are winning. Nothing appears to be able to curb Americans’ appetite for drugs. And our government isn’t about to decriminalize them anytime soon.
Over 5,000 people died in the Mexican drug war last year. “About 8,463 drug executions have occurred during the first two years of Mexican President Felipe Calderon’s six-year term in office,” according to an online source.
Unfortunately, Mexico is avoiding the issue by taking a stance similar to that of Santa Ana Mayor Miguel Pulido. To wit, “Last week, Mexican President Felipe Calderon instructed his embassy and consular officials to promote a positive image of Mexico.”
Oh sure. A positive image will fix everything. Creo que no!
Hey !! This could work out to the benefit of both countries !
Say Mexico falls, I have heard that the people of the northern states of Mexico would like to become part of the United States.
Now, we have to be careful about this because we don’t want to annex a liability. But I think that the US could really clean up those northern Mexican States. Bring law and order – they have natural resources. Just a thought.
I was born in Monterrey, Nuevo Leon, one of the northern states, and im sorry, even though we are maybe poor, we are way too proud of being part of out nation to form part of ur country, ur flag is ok with 50 stars. If for any reason the lord gangs get to win, which it is not probable, the must we are gonna do is our own military to fight against them, and MUCH LESS we would not let Americans take over our states, I’d fight until i die before that happens, Mexico is my country and I’d give my life for my country
Investing 101 tells us that rewards outway the risks in the drug business. Economics 101 demand and supply continue to exist. Hence there is not really a solution current regulatory system. Common sense 101, legalize and control the illicit drug business. Start out with marijuana…
But wait…no more minorities in jail if that happens. But wait…alcohol kills more than any illicit drug. What’s the really the agenda?
The Gangster problem in Mexico is everybody’s problem – we just dont know it yet.
Junior,
I don’t think so.
Besides the obvious, Mexicans here and there are to proud of a people to be taken over by another country.
Then of course, how many people here are willing to take over a country that has the problems are mentions and the liabilities of caring for a country that has many stuctural problems where ever you turn.
Sure, the resources are great but we are already getting that so I guess “why buy the cow when the milk is cheaper”
Here’s how to solve Mexico’s problems:
Institute the Death penalty for murder and fast track the leagal process so that criminals are put to death as soon as possible.
Death for murders, death for Kidnapping, death for oraganized drug dealing.
Who wants to take a job in a industry that has has death at the end of the tunnel?
Jose,
I like the way you think.
But give my annexation suggestion a rethink. The new US citizens could remain proud of their former Mexican states – we have room on the flag for more stars.
I believe that it is the only hope for Mexico.
#4 You think that the people involved in gangs and drugs dont think that their choice will end in death? I think you underestimate the problem, this isnt a “choice” in their minds, to them they have no choice.
Are you also wondering how there are so many suicide/homocide bombers in the Middle East?
Its really arrogant to believe that the rest of the world subscribes to our middle-class white-bread values and world view, or that our view is the only correct one.
Anonyms,
Who cares if they understand their choices – the problem will be handled.
We understand that American values and world view are not the end-all & be-all. They are not perfect, but they work for us.
We can see how Mexican values and world view are working for their country.
Junior,
It is not about values and world view.
It is about economics, hope and opportunity.
What you describe in Mexico is happening here in the States in communities where the economy is bad, no hope and no opportunity.
The crime and other social problems discussed here are brought by the drug consumers – the demand. Traffickers and dealers are the supply. CLASSIC BUSINESS 101 AS JOE #3 POINTED OUT.
The drug consumers driving the problem are in the U.S.A.
THE DRUG CONSUMERS ARE THE PROBLEM. It is difficult to look in the mirror.
I hope that does not come to pass but news is not so bad, according to the FBI, violent crime is down 17% over last year in our city!!
http://www.ocregister.com/articles/percent-violent-fbi-2279412-crime-fell
kill em all!
this is just damn sad
look wat we have become
these stupid drug ppl obviously are so damn messed up they really need some help. in the end if we dont do anything about it we will all suffer
these drug ppl need to be punished or helped and theres many ppl that kno who they r and ar takiing the easy way out by not saying nothing and those are the ppl that also need help in feeling safe enough to say something to help themselves in the end.
god im so ashamed sometimes of being mexican just cuz many mexicans are so damn lazy and they dont care about nothing else just themselves. who needs drugs honestly no one does god ppl need to get a life and stop takin the easy way out..nothing is too hard…
MEXICO DIE!
Well, we do have some good points being brought out on the table….that’s always healthy. May I interject a thought ? How about we start patrolling our southern border and shoot anyone who tries to cross it…they are ILLEGALS…simple swift justice. No one will come into a war zone…except the druggies, who need to pass on anyway. Now, the second front…in the USA….death for dealing drugs, death for fighting with the DEA,life on the border for those doing drugs….tent city…patrols, etc.
One thing for sure, if Mexico collapses, we’ll be involved up to our eye balls !
alot of you are just have the knwledge of what you see in the news however, you are not aware of certain things, like last friday sep. 4th, the university in brownsville had to be evacuated due to a shoot out on the other side of the border. ( due to the drug war of course) bullets hit the university buildings and guess what they dont need identification to cross the border. US citizens could have been hurt, so yes its alot closer to home than everyones thinks.
This war should stop. Their are kids and innocent people getting killed. I hope that the people that see this get the message.
it’s all the usa falt becuse of their appetite for drugs!!!!
Are half of you sleeping?.
This has been going on for years. 6 thousand people died in drug war violence last year alone!. More than all the people who died in the Northern Ireland troubles.
No one talks about it, because the focus would go stright to south of the border.
Ramos, the Salv. gang kid, that kill the father and his two sons in SF. belonged to one of the most violent and active gangs in Mexico MS13. Who are very much involved with Mexicos drug trade.
The fall of Mexico to the drug lords will wakeup all those lasy elitist Mexicans, who just then might, demand the government of Mexico to start controling its country. ie… educating people, working on using natural resources and yes getting the American government to trade more fruits and veg… IE.. ADVOCATOS (just in time).
The government of Mexico is reeping what it has sown.

Sorry!
Anyway, I am pleased to meet the real deal! If you know what I mean?
Your country is in serious trouble and if American needed to go in. You need to step aside!
I understand your love for your country, but if you love your country then you can understand with 10,000 innocent lives lost you need help! You need to lose the chip and face a new world of Good vs Evil!
Americans are made up of the St.Patricks….do not forget that!
Good night Mr. Madero and stay safe!
What do you mean by Americans are made of St Patricks?
Oh, Michelle is referring to the “San Patricios.” I like that story, and so does she, because she’s Irish and I’m half Irish.
Only thing is, she’s a racist who is always picking on Mexican immigrants here, and I’m not.
The San Patricios were the Irish and Germans in Texas and New Mexico who fought on the side of Mexico during the Mexican-American War in the 1840’s, mostly because they shared the Catholic religion with Mexicans and also opposed slavery.
It’s nice to hear from someone who’s actually in Mexico, you should keep up with some of our more recent stories. The one you’re looking at is pretty old. Here are a couple of newer ones you might find interesting:
