Garden Grove City Council candidate Robin Marcario has an ideal background for a local politician. She is a teacher and a community activist. She also is actively involved with local charitable organizations and has served on a variety of city and county commissions. Yet she faces an uphill battle against two well-funded Republican adversaries, Andrew Do and Steve Jones. And her own party, the Democratic Party of Orange County (DPOC) , endorsed the much less qualified Paul Lucas instead of backing her.
But Marcario is not without her own endorsements. She has the support of Congresswoman Loretta Sanchez and Garden Grove Unified School District Trustee Kim Oanh Nguyen Lam. She also enjoys the support of Mike Matsuda, who serves on the North Orange County Community College District’s Board of Trustees.
Marcario’s top priorities, according to her Smart Voter website, include:
- Support Public Safety with Gang and Graffiti prevention programs
- Create parks to beautify our city and provide activities for our youth
- Improve traffic flow with signal coordination to save time and gas
Marcario’s opponents also include Democratic attorney Tram Linh Ho, who like Lucas was endorsed by the DPOC, Republican School Board member Trung Nguyen, and Republican community activist Tony Flores. I wrote a post about Flores earlier this week that you can read at this link.

Lets get the word out. Robin Marcario is the best candidate for the city of Garden Grove City Council in these difficult economic times. Is there not something terribly wrong when upwards to $100,000 is being spent on a campaign for a local office position that pays not much above $500 a month. Now of all times Garden Grove needs City Council members that can make us feel responibly represented. Robin Marcario has already proven to me that she can and will.
To Robin:
I will get to releasing your interview footage soon. I’ve been so busy that I haven’t had time to edit it. Sorry! But hey, look at the bright side, now you get double coverage, right?

Robin is also endorsed by Lou Correa, Jose Solorio, John Hanna, Larry Labrado, and a host of other leaders who agree that she would make a terrific leader. Wouldn’t it be nice to have someone who cares about the people instead of where they’re getting their next revenue producing, donation increasing development deal?
Dear Art,
You are to be commended for your commitment to your city and surrounding communities. You have done an exemplary job of publishing information of worthy candidates to serve. This election is particularly important to elect dedicated, educated and involved people who contribute all year long to their communities.
Thoughtfully,
Robin Marcario
Robin seems like a vary committed person, interested in bettering the lot of her fellow Garden Grove Residents. She is active in the community and has been for a long time and as an educator has a special understanding of the needs of the city. Garden Grove needs her in a position to guide the city thru these troubled times.
