Anaheim city commissioner Jordan Brandman appears to have won a seat on the Anaheim Union School District Board of Trustees, after he “called for a “new direction.” Presumably that will be a direction that is NOT anti-Latino, unlike Brandman’s ousted predecessor Harald Martin.
Here are a few excerpts from an O.C. Register article about Brandman’s victory:
Jordan Brandman, at 27 the youngest of the candidates, also is an education policy adviser in state government. “I’ve been walking precincts, talking to voters, and I am ready to make sure our students are given the best chance to succeed,” he said at a recent forum.
Brandman is joining the school district’s board at a time when it’s looking for a fresh start. In the past year, the board has dealt with the death of one of its members, the fallout from a debate over whether bond funds had been mismanaged, and a recall campaign that led Martin to resign.
Furthermore, Superintendent Joseph Farley recently announced that the district may have to cut $17 from its budget next year as a result of state budget cuts.
Congratulations Jordan! The best man won…and now we can begin to scrub away the legacy of hate that Martin left behind.

57.9% of the people voted against Jordan. Not exactly a mandate for him.
But in Pedrozaland you claim victory anywhere you can get it. Even when you lose.
Poster 1,
What are you talking about? Jordan was the top vote-getter and he won. Are you so bitter you cannot face facts? Jordan won. Get used to it.
O.K. – I’ll bite. Was does “an education poilcy adviser in state government” mean? Just who does he work for? What are his educational and experience qualifications to advise on education policy? Is this yet another young staffer to some State Legislator that seeks a career in public office?
anon no. 3,
You are correct. Jordan was a staffer for Assemblyman Tom Umberg.
Art,
Thanks for the post. The right man won! A fitting end to a long and hard fought victory against the forces of hate.

Jordan Brandman represents the type of leader this community needs, a leader who can build bridges and re-establish trust with teachers, community members, students, parents, and civic leaders. AUHSD had been rudderless until Anna Piercy rode into town. Now, she will have a strong ally to continue righting the ship.
Does he have any connection to the Education Alliance or the GOP Central Committee?
Poster 7,
No. Jordan is a moderate Democrat. The Ed Alliance crowd is pretty much hard right Reeps. Same for the OC GOP Central Committee.
That said, Jordan is not a very partisan guy. He has worked for both Democrats and Republicans.
Jordan gets along with everyone and will be an effective leader on the Anaheim Union School District Board.
