Congratulations Jordan!

Anaheim city commissioner Jordan Brandman appears to have won a seat on the Anaheim Union School District Board of Trustees, after he “called for a “new direction.” Presumably that will be a direction that is NOT anti-Latino, unlike Brandman’s ousted predecessor Harald Martin.

Here are a few excerpts from an O.C. Register article about Brandman’s victory:

Jordan Brandman, at 27 the youngest of the candidates, also is an education policy adviser in state government. “I’ve been walking precincts, talking to voters, and I am ready to make sure our students are given the best chance to succeed,” he said at a recent forum.

Brandman is joining the school district’s board at a time when it’s looking for a fresh start. In the past year, the board has dealt with the death of one of its members, the fallout from a debate over whether bond funds had been mismanaged, and a recall campaign that led Martin to resign.

Furthermore, Superintendent Joseph Farley recently announced that the district may have to cut $17 from its budget next year as a result of state budget cuts.

Congratulations Jordan! The best man won…and now we can begin to scrub away the legacy of hate that Martin left behind.
