If you’re not a Democrat, this post is not so much for you, although you’re welcome to read, comment, and generally add to the general sense of deflation that Democrats are feeling these days. Here’s what we’re talking about in this post, from the California Democratic Party’s website:
The Assembly District Election Meetings (ADEMs) are held every two years (Saturday, January 7 or Sunday, January 8 of 2017) to elect 7 women and 7 men to be Assembly District Delegates (ADDs) for their area. ADDs are responsible for planning and attending informational meetings throughout the region and working with other delegates to represent their community. They are also elected by voters in their district to vote on behalf of the community they represent at Regional Meetings, the California Democrats Convention, and those who are also elected to serve as an Executive Board member are responsible for voting and representing their community at the semi-annual E-Board meetings.
We’ll start with the general introduction and then touch on each of OC’s 7 Assembly Districts. (It’s more like 6-1/2, actually, with my northernmost district being shared with east San Gabriel Valley and Chino Hills.) What are Assembly District Delegates?
Every two years, the CA Democrats elect 7 women and 7 men from each Assembly District in CA as delegates to the state party. Those who are elected will have a chance to vote for the new party chair and other leadership. The race is hotly contested and will determine how welcoming, grassroots-focused and innovative the party becomes or how beholden it will remain to big money interests.
Delegates elect Party officers, endorse candidates for statewide, legislative and congressional office, attend the annual convention, network with other Democrats, represent your constituency, promote the California Democratic Party agenda, and vote to endorse resolutions and ballot measures.
You get 14 votes for delegates, 1 of which you must also vote for Executive Board Representative.
Any registered Democrat living in the district is eligible to vote. On-site voter registration is available for those not registered as Democrats.

One other thing: we haven’t asked a single person for their permission to endorse them. It’s not their fault that, having read about them, we think they’d be good additions to the CDP. These endorsements come primarily from a review of their candidate statements. If you’re reading this and see that we’ve endorsed you, but don’t want to be endorsed — maybe you don’t like the photo of Bernie up there, or maybe you’ll get calls from some party insiders threatening to tar you with the brush that they use on us (which tells you exactly why we’re reformers!) — we would welcome contact from you. (We will ask why you want out, and who if anyone told you to bail — although of course you don’t have to tell us — so if anyone who badgers you tells you to keep that a secret then you know that they’re scum and are the exact reason that we lost the Presidency.) Okay, with that out of the way, here we go!

This is a heavily East Asian district; it’s one of the ones that should put a politically adept East Asian onto the E-Board.
