Thank you for your service, Christina. Now, stop me if you’ve heard any of this:

Just as you can’t make an omelet without breaking a few eggs, we couldn’t gerrymander California for maximum Democrat representation without creating a few Republican ghettos, districts that squeeze in the maximum of those miscreants, where these Trump lovers will be stacked on top of each other like crabs in a bucket, taking out all their rage on each other instead of the rest of us, with no adult supervision or civilized “norms.”

One of those Gileads is California’s 40th Congressional District, currently “represented” by the smooth and valueless Young Kim. Except once our gerrymandering kicks in, more of that district’s TERRITORY will have been represented by Corona’s Creepy Ken Calvert (since time immemorial) and neither of those two intend to go ANYWHERE. In fact they might have even more “R” company: Darrell Issa, whose own Temecula/Escondido district has been made untenable, is considering dragging his sorry demagogue ass up to the 40th. So we could very well see THESE THREE troglodytes debasing themselves even more than usual (between now and the June primary) to show the most fealty to the Rotting Yam:

But, hold the phones – there are a lot of good Americans still living in these MAGA enclaves and they are not giving up without a HUGE fight. 9% GOP advantage? Well, Christina has dropped out and dewy-eyed Perry is expected to tomorrow, but three Democrats are still IN IT TO WIN IT, three Democrats whether cocky and arrogant or possessed of well-founded confidence, look at the odds and cry, BRING IT ON!

That’d be

• 1. truth-challenged fire hero Joe Kerr, about whom I wrote plenty last year, last time he beat my preferred Democrat in the primary and went on to lose to Young Kim. We’ll say nothing about him today but to link to our 2024 material.

• 2. feisty wealthy art dealer Esther Kim Varet, who will be coming to the Anaheim Democrats Club (unchartered) next month so we don’t want to judge her prematurely, but we are troubled by her refusal to utter a critical word about Israel during the Gaza Genocide; and

• 3. Immigration attorney Lisa Ramirez, who will be speaking at the Club meeting this Thursday night. Among the many Lisa has defended, you probably remember Narciso Barranco, the Tustin landscaper with the weed-whacker, father of three Marines, who was beaten up and arrested by ICE agents last June in Santa Ana and then they called HIM an “anti-ICE terrorist.” (I still get mad that people believe a word those NAZIS say.) Lisa is encouraged that, even though there are more Republicans in the district than pre-Prop 50, there are a LOT of Latinos, and those folks are motivated as hell. Also, Lisa says, “I wouldn’t be running at all if there were somebody in the race I could support,” and… yeah.

The New 40th – the FIGHTING FORTY!

I guess you might wanna know this. The new 40th has become a Republican ghetto by, as the Register says, “losing Aliso Viejo and Lake Forest and picking up Menifee, Wildomar and parts of Corona (areas represented by Calvert.) It will STILL include, as it does now, Yorba Linda, Anaheim Hills, Orange, Chino Hills, Tustin, Mission Viejo, Aliso Viejo, Rancho Santa Margarita, Laguna Hills, Laguna Woods, Villa Park, Lake Forest, North Tustin, Joe’s & Esther’s beloved Coto de Caza, and parts of Brea.
