This Weekend in Anaheim: Vern Concert, & The Untold Story of Mass Incarceration!

What an exciting weekend to be in or near Anaheim – at least, we think so. First (among the MANY great events our friend Liz Gracian has been putting on at her new bookstore “The Untold Story,” will be THIS exhibit from Friday night thru Sunday:

The Untold Story Bookstore is proud to collaborate with Faces of Mass Incarceration to bring the community the art exhibit titled The Untold Story of Mass Incarceration. The work of Megumi Nakazawa consists of 71 portraits in oil on canvas. The spectator can click on a QR Code, which will link them to an audio recording of the portrayed person telling their own story.

The artist wanted to understand mass incarceration, so she painted not only the incarcerated but also their families, as well as the victims of crime.

The event will hold its grand opening on Friday, September 27th, at 6:00 p.m. It will begin with poetry readings and then an introduction of the artist’s work. Ticket sales are $15 online and $20 at the door. The event will end Sunday, September 29th.

The Untold Story Bookstore & Cafe is located at 1141 N Anaheim Blvd, just north of La Palma and the Salvation Army thrift store.
