Two big endorsements came over our “transom” today for Derek Tran, who’s running for Congress in the 45th district against the deplorable Michelle Steel.
We might as well tell you now, as well, that Derek will be speaking at the next Anaheim Democrats Club general meeting on Thursday May 2, 7pm, at the Anaheim Unitarian Church, 511 South Harbor.
And the Club will also be holding a fundraiser for both Derek and Frances Marquez (who’s running for OC Supervisor against the awful, corrupt Janet Nguyen) Sunday afternoon June 9, at the home of Sharon Quirk-Silva. More details to come on that! Back to our inbox….

League of Conservation Voters Endorses Derek Tran
Oil & Utility Corporations Continue To Gouge Customers With The Help Of Michelle Steel
Garden Grove, CA — Today, U.S. Army Veteran and workers’ rights attorney Derek Tran, who is running in California’s 45th Congressional District, announced the support of the League of Conservation Voters Action Fund, the political arm of the LCV. The League of Conservation Voters works to elect leaders who stand up for clean energy jobs, climate action, and who stand up to oil and utility companies who continue to raise rates on consumers.
Derek’s advocacy stands in stark contrast with CA-45 incumbent Republican Michelle Steel, whose record of corruption and letting polluters have their way is legendary. Steel, who has taken over $150,000 from the oil and gas industry, refuses to hold oil companies accountable as Southern California gas prices continue to increase. She continued to vote for offshore drilling in Huntington Beach, even after the devastating oil spill decimated Orange County’s tourism economy in 2021.
Steel, who earns a personal fortune from oil production, also guzzled over $40,000 in contributions from utility companies while Southern California residents continue to see rising prices.
“On Earth Day there is nothing more important in our fight against the climate crisis and pollution than electing leaders to Congress who will prioritize the health and rights of communities over Big Polluters and special interests, especially communities of color and communities with low wealth who are the most impacted by extreme weather and pollution,” said LCV Action Fund Senior Vice President for Government Affairs Tiernan Sittenfeld. “That is why LCV Action Fund is thrilled to endorse Derek Tran for Congress because we know he will fight to protect the health of our communities, clean water and clean air, and a free and fair democracy for future generations.”
