Since so many of you keep asking us, we were finally sent (after five months) the coroner’s report on the death of former Anaheim councilman Jordan Brandman, who was found dead at his home, the night of September 29, 2023, at the age of 43. You can read it HERE.
The cause of death was “acute methamphetamine intoxication.” Other conditions were “Hypertensive-type cardiovascular disease.” The “manner” was specified an “accident.”
We were surprised at two things – his body was in an advanced state of decay when they found him, so he must have died days earlier. And it is observed that he lacks all his bottom teeth – a sign of long-term meth use.
We received soon after his death an anonymous comment talking about his OD’ing on not only meth but “liquid ecstasy” (and gossiping about his phone apps.) We didn’t print that as it was unverifiable. Does this report disprove the “liquid ecstasy?”
But now we wonder, between that comment and his advanced state of decomposition, if maybe he was not alone when he died, but in the company of someone who didn’t want to get in trouble or get involved.

If anyone is going to know about Jordans drug use it would be Melahat. She kept close tabs on him and would know who his drug connection was.

What was really weird is in how short a time he looked completely different.
It was like watching the picture of Dorian Gray. I guess the dope accounts for that.
The liquid ecstasy was Amyl Nitrate concentrate or “poppers”.

We’ve been getting comments like this all day. Fine. Greg speculated; I didn’t think it was very likely; but Greg can write whatever he wants here.
On the other hand, we can never be 100% sure, can we? Since Chief Cisneros admitted, last time he checked on Jordan, that “when it’s very influential people, we keep things under wraps.”
One thing I noticed (in an above comment) to the very similar death of Chris Burrous (same age of 43 and everything) – at least Chris was with a partner who cared enough to get help. Sad story of Jordan’s life in a nutshell.
PS to trolls: None of this is “an attack on Jordan’s (or Chris’) sexuality,” duh.
It’s pretty low to attack your enemies by blaming them for something they had no responsibility for.
Brandman got used to being treated as a perpetual little boy, guiltless, guileless, and just so darn nice. In other words, a persona dedicated to victimhood.
In reality he was a lost soul whose only desire was to be loved and coddled by people in power. He seems to have no real friends, just handlers, under whose auspices he was willing to give away public assets, fight democratic representation and attack Tom Tait – an honest guy trying to do an honest job.
Murder was absolutely possible, but I never said it was probable. No apologies here, especially to nameless trolls.
What we seem to know here is that Jordan had an enduring and severe meth habit, enough for him to lose (some number of) his bottom teeth. This would not have gone unnoticed by those close to him — if there were people close to him at the end. The “advanced decomposition” is a gruesome detail, but also telling. He had been left alone by what he thought were his friends after he was (belatedly) turning in the direction of state’s evidence.
I don’t know if he lived long enough to read Chumley’s jeering attack on him for foresaking his (corrupt) friends and giving up his sweet deal with the BIAA — but if he wasn’t already suicidal or driven to extreme levels of fatal “self-medication,” that probably would have done the trick. And so now his death stands as a warning against crossing OC’s Disney-centered power brokers.
Unless someone “force-fed” him or facilitated that final overdose, then it’s probably not murder (except possibly felony murder.) But the comment that Melahat in particular would or should have been expected to keep an eye on him was tight on the money. This sickening abandonment of him when he needed treatment tells a more gory story than I could ever make up. But Chumley’s troll friends seem to find it exonerating.
That would be true to character — if they had any.
In ill health dying alone and days before he was discovered, shows a pattern of how he was used and dumped by the “movers and shakers” of this community who found no need for his services anymore, and he was left basically on a deserted island or lost at sea.
This is a sad commentary for all these, so-called leaders of the community that wants you fall out of favor you’re left to die left to disappear into the unknown never to be heard from again.
I voted for Jordan when he ran for school board and for his first attempt at city council in 2012, because I had hoped like many that the younger generation would move up and take part in the community and eventually inherit this city from those in office.
God Bless Jordan Brandman,(1980-2023) and I hope he found peace and the “spirit world”.

Again: I was trying to “save his soul” by convincing him not to go along with the people who merely wanted to use and abuse him. People such as Dan and his “friends.”
I wish that we had been more successful. Jordan would have made less money — which is of course Dan’s measure of all things — but he would likely have lived a longer and happier life. Better yet, that happiness would not have derived from greed and spite.
I wonder why Jordan couldn’t have gotten any help from his big Sister Kris Murray in his time of greatest need? I’d love to see his phone records….

I was just reading the coroners’ report linked to in this story. It seems very thorough, but there is this one thing.
“The head is normocephalic and completely covered by short, light brown hair that
can be described as straight. No balding is present.”
Wait — maybe I misremember, but wasn’t Jordan notably balding during his last few months on the dais?
If so, than that comment is sort of weird. I wonder if Jordan could have been getting treatment — as well as perhaps drugs — from a hair restoration specialist. Do we know anyone in OC politics who is in that line of practice?
It appears that SOAR PAC will shovel vast amounts of money at you even if you are a Meth addict as long as you vote in the “Disney way.”
Second, if you go back to his first term on the dais (before his huge weight loss) Brandman was already a piece work. Remember he was the architect of taking away mayor Tait’s ability to agendize things, and removing the money for Mayor Tait to have an aide.
There was never anyone so SMUG as Brandman during his time as a council person. He gleefully voted for every corrupt thing that he could.
The autopsy isn’t all that credible. He was dying his hair black when last we saw him, although he could have stopped. But he was going bald.
But the real oddity is measuring the dude at 80″ long. That’s 6’8″ and Brandman was what, maybe 6’4″? I don’t know how a body could increase by 4″ post mortem.
He had no lower teeth but the upper ones were in “good repair”? That’s beyond bizarre. I don’t think meth mouth discriminates against teeth in the mandible.
How could Jordan’s height increase by four inches after the departure of rigor mortis? Maybe that’s the autopsy conductor’s secret message to us: that they’re pulling someone’s leg.
More seriously, it could be something like measuring rom the crown of the head to the end of the toes, giving the full extent of the body if it were on tiptoes. (I don’t know the customs of the trade; I haven’t conducted an autopsy in decades!) A possible physiological explanation might involve something like loosening the legs from the pelvis or losing the curvature of the spine — or maybe he was really 5’11” and shopped for boots at the same store as Ron DeSantis.
I am a little concerned by the discrepancies we’ve discussed, but not as much as the fact that the Sheriff appoints the Coroner so we’d never get a reliable answer even if we pursued the matter.
Maybe they thought that by making Jordan taller and less bald they were somehow doing his memory a favor. Strange County.
