This came from our friend, Fullerton provocateur and art bigwig Baxter; he just flung it right over our “transom,” as the odious Cunningham would say…
Please make The Fullerton Art Walk part of your 4th of July plans by visiting us at The Magoski Arts Colony, home of four galleries and many more artists spaces, for the opening reception of artist Steve Metzger.
Never before have we seen an artist with this much talent and such an impressive history of gallery exhibitions lack even a hint of pretension. When the best artist around is also a joy to work with, this gallery falls in love. It is for these and many other reasons that The Egan is extremely honored to have Steve return to us with his appropriately titled exhibition “Stars & Stripes.” With this collection of oil paintings Steve incorporates the use of form and color by juxtaposing both monochromatic stripes with portraits of notable celebrities. This is a fun and colorful show, one which has not been seen outside of Laguna Beach before.
Steve lives and works in Fullerton, California with his wife Jamie. Steve attended Fullerton College and eventually earned his MFA from CSUF. Steve has large public sculptures on permanent display on the campus of CSUF, Brea and Santa Ana, in sort …. Steve Metzger is Rad!
We hope to see you on the 4th. If you plan to attend please RSVP below:

And then Baxter attached this special invitation ostensibly to me [Vern] but since I neither tend to wear shorts nor drink cheap beer (even when I’m drinking) I was thinking that perhaps these lines were intended for YOU, the reader:
“…would love to see you on the 4th. It’s a great show. Art Walk falls on the 4th this year, but our gallery is not wanky, you can come in shorts and breath that smells of hot dogs and cheap beer!”
