Last night, in a historic recall election in Arizona, top Republican State Senator Russel Pearce (seen pictured on the right next to a neo-Nazi, how quaint!) was voted out of office. The legislator was the architect of the hateful and loathsome anti-immigrant legislation SB 1070. Unrepentant, Pearce says he is proud of his record, even though the majority of voters clearly were not, and that he will spend time with family and his God after having lost to Republican Jerry Lewis.
In other ‘Hate State’ news…
Arizona Governor Jan Brewer, another elected official in need of ousting, will be making an appearance at the Barnes and Noble in Irvine tonight at 7 p.m.* She’ll be signing copies of her book Scorpions for Breakfast, My Fight Against Special Interests, Liberal Media and Cynical Politicos to Secure America’s Border for all her hate filled minions in OC – and there’s sure to be more than a few. There was little advance notice of her appearance, so if there will be a protest tonight at 7 p.m., it will be hastily organized, but it will also be righteous!
Hey, Governor Bruja, keep on eating ‘Scorpions for Breakfast.’ I’ll be keeping warm on these chilly mornings with a bowl of menudo instead!
*ED Correction: The Bruja appearance already happened, LAST night (Tuesday night) with evidently not enough publicity for either fans or protestors to appear. A Liberal OC commenter reports:
I was here when the signing happened. But no protest happened nor was it necessary, there were more security guards than people lined to get a book prized. The reason there was no hubbub is that most of the Irvine occupiers were busy with their city council review, an event prescheduled and more important.
The governer was scheduled to he here 1 45 minutes Longer than her hohum affair, but all but packed up seeing how no one apart from 5 or so people were buying her lies and drivel. There could have been an issue, but doubt it. I was in the bathroom for a brief moment and she had gone when I returned.
“Pearce was defeated by Republican Jerry Lewis .. (in a) Republican primary that many may see as a referendum on a harsh immigration law. An ethics scandal and under-handed campaign tactics also played a role.”
“Jerry Lewis, the charter school executive who defeated him, is a conservative Republican not a moderate. He differs from Pearce on immigration less in policy than in tone and focus ..”
“Lewis recently called the controversial immigration law a “good start,” although he added that he would tackle the issue differently.”
From the Washington Post:

Who is celebrating Jerry Lewis? This outcome is of nuanced satisfaction to be sure. At the end of the day, Pearce is gone. At the end of the day, there is still much to be done.
That’s how it be.
For anyone who might be confused, this is not Southern California’s lousy Congressperson Jerry Lewis, nor the comedian.
I hadn’t even checked on this result before now. This is great news; thanks for posting it, Gabriel. It’s really going to give pause to people who think that they can make political gains using this issue.
What a great chance to see Jan Brewer and get her comments on Pearce’s loss! Who’s up for it?
WHAT Barnes & Noble, Gabo?
Whoops. Thought it was tonight. Sneaky bruja. Oh well, adios cabrona!
What this indicates is that conservative Republicans rejected an ultra-conservative who behaved badly – BFD, a conservative Republican is going to win the seat. No gain for dems here.
Behaved badly in bashing immigrants and pushing a civil-liberties-abridging bill? I don’t remember what your position was on SB 1070, but now I’m guessing you’re against it if you call it “behaving badly?”
i see the laraza crowd came out . go sherrif joe . go .
“Arizona Senate President Russell Pearce replaced three members on the state’s Ethics Committee over an investigation of a fellow colleague’s domestic abuse charges last week, and his own campaign in the recall election spiraled deeper into allegations of fraud and ethic violations.”
The Tea Party polices their own. I am glad that the f**cker is gone as well and replaced with an ethical conservative Republican.
If this guy was clean SB 1070 would likely not have done him in. He did himself in.
I will join you in saying “Adiós cabrón!”
Now how will you dems handle that “fine upstanding” tax cheat criminal Charlie Rangle?
Well, if I lived in Rangel’s NY district, I would probably support a primary challenger to him. Apparently what he’s done is not enough to get thrown out of Congress or into jail, though I think he did lose his committee seats, didn’t he?
He’s on my list … right after most of the Bush Administration. First come, first served.
CLINTON INPEACHED , TAX CHEAT TIMMY , TAX CHEAT RANGELL . OH ITS OK THEY ARE DEMOCHEATS . PUT THEM IN LINE TOO
I’ll give you Geithner, but in exchange I’m going to want a whole bunch of Republican tax cheats. Deal?
newsflash diamond both sides cheat .
Newsflash Grate Juan: elephants and donkeys both are heavy, but one is heavier.
just start the deportations already, anyone care about Americans?
1. We’ve had more deportations these last two years under Obama than EVER BEFORE;
2. This is on top of the fact that hardly any Mexicans are trying to sneak into our country any more, between our sucko economy and various improvements in their country;
3. You gotta find some new fucking minority to pick on, dude.
3. Pianists! (You guys are tough, you can take it!)
On point 1: my understanding has been that Obama’s deportations have been pretty much limited to people who have been arrested of other crimes (and so shown themselves to be “bad actors,” the theory goes.) This is different from there being mass deportations based on status alone. But I don’t have a citation for this, so I could be wrong about it.
Hey Vern, what drugs are you on?
These are facts, Gator man. If you don’t believe me I’ll bring you links. Although I’m sure the facts don’t get thru to your FOX News / John & Ken bubble.
Oh. I see Demagogue beat me to it.
Gator,
On your computer there is a feature called Google. Try using it before you stand up in front of the class.
Obama has deported more illegals than any other President.

If you don’t like the LA Times there about two dozen other news organizations reporting the same thing.
Now sit down and do your homework.
