Peas in a Pod: Van Tran and Sharron Angle

Peas In A Pod: Van Tran And Sharron Angle  (press release from DCCC)

With his welcome embrace last week of the Tea Party Express endorsement, Van Tran’s proven to be on the fringe and out of touch – just one more thing Tran has in common with his fellow Tea Party Express candidate Sharron Angle.

Angle, who won a come-from-behind victory in the Republican Senate primary in Nevada, has a well-deserved reputation for extremism, arguing that the oil spill devastating Gulf communities was an “accident,” that Big Oil should be deregulated and that she entered the race due to “a calling” from God.

Since Van Tran has followed Sharron Angle in welcoming the endorsement of an organization whose hallmark has become a racist and anti-Semitic attitude, the question is, will Tran follow Angle in espousing her extreme, out of the mainstream beliefs?

“Van Tran has already welcomed the endorsement of the Tea Party Express, and the racist and anti-Semitic views espoused by the group. Orange County voters deserve to know if now Tran will follow the extreme, radical path laid out by fellow Tea Party Express endorsee Sharron Angle,” said Andy Stone, Western Regional Press Secretary at the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee. “In this difficult economic environment, does Van Tran agree with Sharron Angle that those who rely on short-term unemployment insurance are ‘spoiled?’”
