Chance: Anaheim Outgoing Council Wrap-up.

Well, we haven’t written much about the Anaheim City Council in a while, so we figured we’d post this e-mail from Kathy Chance, who watched the final meeting of the 23-24 Council (the meeting last Tuesday before they adjourned to move over to the River Arena for the swearing-in of new members Kristen Maahs & Ryan Balius and the re-elected Norma Kurtz.) The council continues to consist of 5 out of 7 members elected with Disney money (along with two others who voted no questions asked for the Disneyland Forward proposal.)

While we may not agree with Ms. Chance’s every word, her dispatches are always entertaining and heartfelt. She obviously thinks the world of newly-elected district 1 councilman Balius. If you don’t remember the name Kathy Chance, her place in history is as the former Jordan Brandman supporter who was so outraged by Brandman’s vicious texts about Denise Barnes that she released them to this blog, leading to his resignation. My Feedback: DESPICABLE Council Meeting 12/10/2024

Dear Anaheim City Council:Where do I begin?  Where on Earth do I begin?  It was so bad, I had to watch it twice.  And I will watch it a third time.  As of this writing I am still seething.  Let’s begin with [termed-out] crybaby Steve Faessel you know, the self-proclaimed, “I tend to be the quiet one.”  Exactly Steve WHEN have you ever been quiet about talking about yourself?  That’s right, Mr. “I’ve got my fingerprints all over it” Faessel, NEVER!  How about that video which you claim you hadn’t seen yet which aired last night during the council meeting?  Well, who supplied your staff with all of your childhood photos?  You spend so much time patting yourself on the back and making sure EVERYONE knows that you know EVERYTHING ANAHEIM, so how is it you ‘claim’ you knew nothing about Sidhu and his corruption and the r*pe to our city?  It is US who are crying, so wipe away your fake tears and go home, Steve!  

Speaking of the video we were forced to watch, let’s move on to Matthew Duncan and his presentation on Anaheim coyote killings.  Mr. Duncan comes to us with his concern week after week.  Praise to Mr. Duncan as he isn’t even an Anaheim resident and still cares!  We are actually interested in Matthew’s presentation but when he held up his poster of a coyote, the forward-facing camera was switched off and instead the camera from behind him came on so that the public could not see his poster.  The forward-facing camera did not come on again until the next speaker came to the podium.  So, we were forced to watch Faessel’s boring video that no one cares about, but when it comes to important photos from a concerned citizen, the camera is shut off.  WHY?  Is there a restriction on props?  If so, then I guess you should turn off the camera when Rev. Cecil Corken is speaking.  

Oh and then there is Jose Diaz with his “I fled from Cuba on a handmade raft” BS story again.  He had to get it in just one last time, didn’t he?  His story has never been proven, therefore, it is a story that he invented to capture the Hispanic vote; he told me this himself in the park one day.  I had already cast my vote for Balius, but wanted to hear the BS that came out of his mouth and there was plenty!  Ah, but the fun didn’t stop there, did it?  Ashleigh chimed in giggling and supporting Jose’s false claim that Jose had told her how he made wine in Guantanamo!  Now THIS is a new spin on the raft story that I’d never heard before…wowza!  Creative, indeed!   I thought Ashleigh used to be an attorney, a prosecutor, and a well-educated Rosary grad; how on earth did she fall for this garbage???  Giggle away, Ashleigh, you’re looking real intelligent!

It got worse. Jose, who barely spoke two words over the last four years out of boredom which is indicated by his inability to sit up straight in his lounge (council) chair, was now at full attention.  It was the first time in four years he wasn’t slouching in his chair!  Why?  Because he knew he had center stage and could talk and talk about something he actually KNOWS something about…HIMSELF!   For a man who started off stating it was not all about him, that’s exactly what it was…all about him.   

This guy DID NOTHING FOR D-1, let’s get that straight!  He only did what benefited him – Beach Blvd because he lives at the corner of Rome and Beach. He even used to boast that he was elected to only serve Beach Blvd!   As a matter of fact, the City even turned his street into a cul-de-sac for him right outside his home on the corner once he became a councilperson. 

And as a side note, for the past four years we couldn’t understand a damn thing he was saying and now all of a sudden he’s able to ramble on and on and we can understand him perfectly.  So how did that miraculously happen?  I’ll tell you how it happened…he could speak fluently last night because he was TALKING ABOUT HIMSELF.  All other times he doesn’t know the subject matter so he rambled on incoherently yet he has the audacity to publicly tell Ryan Balius he needs to be prepared for the meetings!  The kicker came when Jose decided to tell Balius publicly how he should conduct himself as a councilperson!  WTF? 

Jose continually referred to Ryan as “his replacement.”  Gee, last time I looked, Ryan not only ran and WON by a VOTE of the People, he even placed a yard sign on my lawn.  Oh, and speaking of election signs, Ryan Balius is the only politician I have ever known who ABIDES BY THE ORDINANCES/LAWS when posting his political signs.  He has never placed them in public spaces like YOU DID, JOSE.  He always asked for permission to hang his signs on corner businesses and on resident’s lawns. Before the sun came up the day after the election results, Ryan had been out all night, (yes, Ryan himself, because I saw him on my cams), picking up all of his election signs.  He let us all know he’d be on our properties in the middle of the night collecting his signs and wanted to have D-1 all clear of his signs by 0400 hrs the next morning (WED).

So why does Jose feel he needs to tell Ryan PUBLICLY how to do a council job that he (Jose) failed at?  It was absolutely demeaning to listen to and I felt terrible for Ryan who was apparently sitting in the audience.  If Jose felt the need to tell Ryan how to do his new job, it should have been done in private, NOT in a public setting!  The reason why Jose did this was to make an attempt to make himself look good, like he hand-selected Ryan to be his “replacement.”  Ryan won the election fair and square and should have won it the first time around!   Jose attempted to make Ryan look like his subordinate. 

Jose Diaz had no guts, no couth, no morals and no ethics; he ran from Cuba, he ran from trying to get re-elected (because he knew he would lose), and now he is running from CA.  He is not, nor has he ever been, a leader.  He is a runner, that’s all he is.  REAL LEADERS stick around and fight the battle – like me, the Robbins, Vern Nelson, Matthew Duncan and Bryan Kaye.  But Jose knew he’d be defeated, so he’s fleeing again, because that’s how Jose operates.  So he’s moving to Florida?  Poor Florida!  I think it’s all BS and he’s not going anywhere; it’s just his failed attempt at trying to exit a race that he was bound to lose (to save face).   

While I’d love to stop here, I am afraid I must go on. NATALIE!

I actually liked you there for a while.  At the time I didn’t understand why everyone was trying to recall you.  But now I am starting to get it.  At the meeting before last, Ms Robbins made some PUBLIC COMMENTS which you, and Diaz, did not like.  Let me remind you, Ms Robbins had the mic and can say whatever she wants; you can’t.  As a matter of fact, you aren’t even supposed to be responding to her comments in an out of order fashion.  I then sent out an email stating that you, along with Jose Diaz, should apologize to Jeanine.  But you didn’t.  After the meeting and while on your way to the River Arena you saw Ms Robbins and had an opportunity to apologize, but you didn’t, did you?  Neither did Jose but he didn’t even show up to the River Arena, did he?  What, was his flight leaving for Florida? 

So we’ve got two new members on city council, and now that Father Diaz has given Son Ryan Balius direct orders on how he should behave while serving on council, everything should be hunky-dory now, right?

We’ll see.  In the meantime, I certainly hope you have opened a winter shelter and that all of the Disney Resort homeless are off the streets.  We’ll see.  I’ll see you next week, or will I?  I doubt it because you’ll be in your nice warm comfy beds while I’ll be out conversing with those still on the Disney Resort streets.  

For all the money Disney gave to all of your campaigns (Jeanine handed out flyers), they could have housed every single homeless person on their bus benches.
