As its now midnight, and I need to be up early tomorrrow for a weekly golf date, the full report of tonight’s Mission Viejo city council meeting, on our $100 million trash contract, will be posted late tomorrow morning.
After five hours of discussion, with no obvious winner, Frank Ury made a Motion for a two week continuance. His Motion was seconded by Mayor Pro Tem Dave Leckness.
They also voted to drop the ex parte with a stipulation that any direct contact with the vendors would occur in city hall and be tape recorded to avoid any possible gray clouds.
FYI. Brett Barbre was there representing Athens Trash Service.
After seeing how much money the city of Orange saved by leaving Waste Management I can only imagine how much a city like Mission Viejo or Santa Ana could save with another company. When is the contract up in Santa Ana anyway?
The Santa Ana contract with Waste Management, I am told is a 30 year deal, automatically renewed annually if not canceled. Sweet. Waste Management has no need for concern there, so just keep ripping off us Mission Viejo residents.
It may only be a few bucks to me every month here in MV, but it is a clever way to pay political patronage. Each resident donates a little every month and then Waste gets $17 million for participating in Mission Viejo election politics. Good deal again.
Is this a great country or what?
