“A village cannot reorganize village life to suit the village idiot- it’s as simple as that “
35% of New Jersey Conservatives think President Obama is the anti-Christ. Frank Schaeffer explains where all this madness stems from and states that “the Evangelical sub-culture has rotted the brain of the United States of America”. President Obama. IS. THE. ANTI-CHRIST. Based on nothing of fact. That is equal to more that one in three conservatives is convinced our president is the real Satan. These folks make up the subculture that constitutes the 5th Column of Insanity, presented by Frank Schaeffer. Their sole approach is to reject FACTS as a matter of FAITH. These people are beyond crazy. How in the world can they be worked with? The answser is: They can’t be worked with. We have a village idiot in this country and it’s called fundamentalist Christianity. Schaeffer suggests that the Republican party has to cease catering to the village idiot that lives in this construct of La-La Land. “A village cannot reorganize village life to suit the village idiot- it’s as simple as that “
Here’s a little more about Frank Schaeffer: By the time he was nineteen, Frank Schaeffer’s parents, Francis and Edith Schaeffer, had achieved global fame as bestselling evangelical authors and speakers, and Frank had joined his father on the evangelical circuit. He would go on to speak before thousands in arenas around America, publish his own evangelical bestseller, and work with such figures as Pat Robertson, Jerry Falwell, and Dr. James Dobson. But all the while Schaeffer felt increasingly alienated, precipitating a crisis of faith that would ultimately lead to his departure—even if it meant losing everything.
With honesty, empathy, and humor, Schaeffer delivers “a brave and important book” (Andre Dubus III, author of House of Sand and Fog)—both a fascinating insider’s look at the American evangelical movement and a deeply affecting personal odyssey of faith.

Frank Shaeffer is a gift to the GOP and the rest of us. He tells the truth about the village idiot. We need to stop catering to crazy.
The two biggest village idiots are Rush Limbaugh and Glen Beck; BUT unfortunately, their craziness is what make them so wildly popular.
Howard Stern once said that the people who hate him the most are actually his biggest fans; because they tune in more and listen longer than the ones that say they love him. I see the same for Limbaugh and Beck. The media hates them so much that they can’t stop talking about them; thus they’re talked about all the net and television on every station. Their craziness is what earns them millions and so they’ll never stop doing what they doing.
you also failed to write that their is a bunch of crazy lefties about the same amount or more that bush knew about 9-11 before it took place . so lets even it up a bit . but of course you only wrote about the crazy conservatives .
Little one: Would that be Pat Buchanan who called 9/11 punishment from God?
The people you falsely call “crazy lefties” are actually not lefties but rather on the right fringe, even past the religious nutcases.
But apparently you are so close to them that you are unable to see that…
Grate one,
The “conservatives” were dumb enough to even respond to a questionaire asking if they thought that the mythical “anti christ” was really the current president. According to Frank Schaeffer, those kinds of religious nutters have been seeing Jesus on toast and the Anti-Christ in a variety of political and popular figures for decades.
His book, Crazy for God, looks to be a good read. I might go get a copy. I’m thankful the life-long Republicans, church-going intellectuals like Schaeffer are calling out the crazies that have hijacked their party and their Christian spiritual agendas. The village idiot should not take front and center in any part of our society.
those people are NUTS just like the NUTS who call NOBAMA AND BUSH HITLER . and all the nuts who are going after his birth place doc . little , little joe i dont reacall any one on the right saying bush blew up the towers expect THE WACKY FAR LEFT NUTS . perhaps you could be one of them .
Great one, I agree, there are a lot of crazy lefties out there too.
But as dumb as I am, I can only focus on one thing at the time. Therefore, back to crazy religious righties. Red Vixen, the Anti Christ idea was pushed during the election. I don’t know if remember some of those commercials, but they really HINTED the idea of the Obama being this “Great One”, the false savior…. the right pushed idea and the religious nuts went for it.
