We recently reported about a new Vietnamese American art exhibit in Santa Ana. The exhibit is controversial as it includes the Vietnamese flag and other commie icons.
L.A. Times columnist Dana Parsons is reporting that the exhibit curators “got more than they bargained for. Assemblyman Van Tran, an influential figure in Little Saigon, and the Westminster City Council have asked the center’s leaders to remove some of the artwork. A public protest is scheduled Saturday morning in front of the center at 17th Street and Broadway.”
The exhibit is located at the VAALA Center, which is located at 1600 N. Broadway, in downtown Santa Ana.
How about it Orange Juice readers? Are you up for a counter protest? I will be there tomorrow morning, at 10 a.m. to counter protest and I hope some of you will join me! I will be making up signs that state “Censorship is un-American,” “Censorship is for Commies,” and “Freedom First.”
Why is Supervisor Janet Nguyen silent on this issue? Her silence puts her on a par with Van Tran. Useless!
Arturo, do you think VT is protesting to garner attention?
Vaughn,
I think Van Tran does this in order to shore up his support in the Viet community. However his actions are bound to PO others in the district who are not Viet, as well as younger Viets who don’t go along with these dumb protests.
Van almost lost this year to an unheralded Democrat named Ken Arnold. He terms out in two years. The Dems will have a GREAT chance to pick up the 68th AD. I hope they run someone decent like Mark Rosen or Katrina Foley. Ken is a good guy but he does not have name ID.
Art,
Is it true that VAALA closed down the exhibit yesterday (Thursday the 15) as stated by Bolsavik? I have been visiting VAALA’s website and do not see any posting regarding the closure. Can you look into this?
