The results of last year’s SAUSD School Board elections were disappointing. The incumbents were re-elected. Shame on the teacher’s union for supporting them! And the one new Trustee, Roman Reyna, is not likely to make a difference.
The SAUSD budget is a mess and our Governor, Arnold Schwarzenegger, appears primed to make it worse. So this is going to be a very tough year. As always, this forum will be here to allow you to vent about what is going on at the SAUSD!
Al Mijares is long gone, but the corruption at the SAUSD continues unabated…

I don’t believe California’s DOEd will have funding to do any school interventions in the forseeable future. At the moment, this high school doesn’t have sufficient faculty to deliver a full curriculum next year.
I am not here to argue with anyone. I present what I get from the CA Dept of Educ.

If you want to dispute that then call the CA Dept of Educ!
I can see this blog has been very busy and last weekend I attended the NEA Hispanic Issues Conference in El Paso, Tx. I funded myself to attend this conference because of the important issues affecting our students and association members in our district, Orange County, California and across our county. There were about seventy people that attended this conference.
One of our key note speakers was very concerned about the budget meltdown in California. She called for action plan to stand united with parents, association members, and classified to ask when the money is coming to save association members jobs and class size reduction. The money from the federal goverment is here. We need to pressure the district to pressure Sacramento to send our money to the Orange County of Department of Education and forward it to our School district.
There is so much at stake here our students education number one and all the jobs that are being lost. We need to stand united here because I see division occurring and continue to ask the hard questions to our school district. Patricia and I have agree the district is not revealing the real information to the public. The taxpayers of Santa Ana will unite with us as Association members ( I use this term so not to leave anyone out of the picture that is a member of our local) and classified members to continue question the district’s budget. We must e-mail our school board members and call them. We must ask them to look closely at items such as travel for the district.
If we were not in a recession our district district would still claim it’s still in a budget crisis. Why is Garden Grove able not to lay off any of their association members with the exception of tempory teachers and maintain stability? I believe that Garden Grove still will not lay off any teachers.
Class size reduction in our our district should not increase to 30-1. Other Associations are bargaining to maintain class size at 24-1 ( 1st, 2nd, and 3rd. grades) I am not public bargaining but only sharing information with you. The parents and all residents of Santa Ana must unite with us now. We must invest in the education of all our children in our city and across our country. We live in one of the greatest counties in the world and do we want to be judged by history as dening our children and students the opportunity to aquire the best education possible. I say no.
933 Red Vixten listed me as site rep. for Greenville correction I am an alternate. I ran the best campaign possible for President for our association and I brought out the issues that effect our assocation members. I was willing to publicly put my name on this blog. I want to thank my supporters and encourage the other 1500 members who did not vote to stand united with us to ask the hard and uncomfortable questions to our SAEA leadership, School board members and District. We live in a demoncratic society and we are entitled to question the Status Quo.
Finally, due to circumstance beyond my control I had to look for a vehicle to purchase and appeared on the news last night. The media did not reveal my true story. I support minority businesses such as this car dealership. I made an offer and they refused to counteroffer with any reasonable offer. So, I walked away from the table. I realize many businesses across our county are suffering at this time. I as a teacher cannot pay full price for a vehicle and refuse to do so. I wanted to do my part to support our local economy and purchase a vehicle made in our country.
Because of the popularity of this SAUSD thread, our software is having much difficulty handling the 1,010 comments section, so we are now closing down comments here. We are putting together a new thread to cover the next 6 months of this year at this thread:
