Doctors fall on hard times!

Sometimes those boat repairs, divorce settlements, alimony payments, vehicle leases, country club fees and travel with your various selected nurses just gets that budget……out of hand.  Concept and case in point:  “The OC’s” finest being indicted by our great District Attorney Tony “R” for bilking insurance companies out of over $154 million dollars in needless operations that bill our insurance companies and raise or endanger our health coverage.

The greedy Insurance Companies are always touted as the “poster boyz” for bad behavior…but in this case some local doctor’s and their patients figured they could “make a killing” by bilking the greedy Insurance Companies.  Making that rationalization is going to be a costly err…since the OC DA’s office is hot on their trail.  Even the lawyer for the Doctor’s has been caught trying to launder voer $3 million bucks from his Attorney Client Trust  Account.

This was no small operation, (no pun intended!).  Over 2800 willing co-conspirators participated in bogus free cosmetic surgeries as well as some pretty nasty colonoscopies, upper gastro-intestinal procedures and even sweaty palms….and received between $300 to $1000 bucks for going along with the needless procedures!  Many were from Newport Beach, Costa Mesa and Huntington Beach! The “UOSC” Accountant Andy Harnen was said to have distributed some of the millions to Patient Recruiters, Administrators, the participating Doctors and to the Patients themselves!  So far, 19 people have been indicted by the OC Grand Jury and face arraignment on July 10th.  Hard times are evidently bringing hard solutions to financial problems.  What’s next?  Pay for transplant organs? Oh, they are already doing that?

Picking on China for executing prisioners and selling their organs on the world market may not be a far shot soon –  even from our shores.  The Buena Park Medical “Unity Outpatient Surgery Center” sought out and recruited over 1500 patients from 38 states.  So far, the patients have not been charged in the indictment.  However, when they are identified they may face local prosecution for fraud as well.

“We were shocked to discover that doctors were acting as real-life body snatchers, treating patients as if they were bodies on a medical conveyor belt for a quick buck,” said Orange County District Attorney Tony Rackauckas!  Good going Tony….how did you find out about this?

Welcome to “Coma Hospital….don’t forget to get on the gurney, take your pill and fill out the name you want on your check!”
