In four years, Assemblyman Jose Solorio will term out in the 69th Assembly District. Who will run for his seat? I expect it to be a cattle call, and many of the local politicians who are currently working together will suddenly find themselves at each other

Art is leaving out one VERY important piece of the puzzle.
By the 2012 election, the district boundaries will be completely redrawn. So the district Solorio currently represents will no longer exist.
A future district might lump SA in with Tustin, Irvine, Costa Mesa or Fountain Valley. Or more Anaheim-based with portions of Garden Grove, Placentia, Fullerton, Buena Park and Cypress.
This factor will certainly affect the potential candidates for 2012.

Good point. I doubt the people in the cities you referenced would vote for any of the yahoos in Santa Ana!

Solorio is termed out in 2010. That leaves at least one term for any of the SanTana Mensos (Sarmiento, Tinajero, Benavides) to take his seat.
