I am still unsure if developer Robert Bisno’s home in Beverly Hills has been foreclosed upon, but I do know that O.C. Weekly writer Gustavo Arellano has dug up a lot more information about him. Here are a few excerpts from Arellano’s latest expose about the man who loves to fork over money to Santa Ana Councilwoman Claudia “Clownia” Alvarez:
It takes quite the developer to provoke a march on City Hall, but that’s exactly what happened last month in Baldwin Park. On a crisp Saturday morning, about a dozen activists fanned across the downtown of this working-class, largely Latino city in the San Gabriel Valley. They visited businesses and talked to pedestrians, warning everyone who’d listen about Los Angeles businessman Robert Bisno, who’s trying to convince city officials and residents
Santa Ana did not get Bisnoed, it got Ware-d and has been Ware-d for quite awhile. Just ask the Logan neighborhood.
To Anon #1,
Slight correction, SA has not gotten Bisnoed YET.
Note: SA Planning Director Jay Trevino has stated that SA will not use Eminent Domain.
However, the actual power and decision authority for ED lies with the council.
How about spot zoning that little plot of land for a pocket park.
Where are the owners of those lofts and townhome supose to breath. A nice little (private)park would almost make those places worth the asking price.
Not that im any fan of Bisno, but Santiago Park is spitting distance from City Place, cook. Id be happier if the Geisha House restaurant just opened already.
The Baldwin Park council member’s name is Ricardo Pacheco not Robert Pacheco. He used to work for Metropolitan Water District as an engineer in downtown L.A. and hooked-up with convicted felon Albert Robles of South Gate. Albert rewarded Richardo Pacheco for his loyalty by having him appointed to Director of Public Works.
After all the brouhaha at South Gate City Hall, Ricardo left in shame. Hmmmmm. Do I see a pattern in Santa Ana City Hall?
Bisno’s other city allies are Don Cribb and Lisa Bist.
I know Santiago park is right across the street. That is what gives that (housing) project its value. (My opinion)
It just seem to me that there should have been a park impact fee to upgrade the areas of the park that are run down.
The buyers are paying the premium because of the great park next door, but the city took campaign donations instead of park funds. (My opinion)
Of course if the developers have given mass amounts of money to the city to pay for the needed repairs and future wear and tear on the this great park caused by the buyers of the units they sell, then I thank them for their community and civic duty.
Cook,
Bisno has indeed given $$$ as required per his developers agreement.
It appears Mr. Robert Bisno has a track record of influencing elected officials with paid lobbyists and monetary contributions. Let
