Matt “Jubal” Cunningham has reported over at Red County that Supervisor Janet Nguyen (pictured above with U.S. Senator Barbara Boxer) has picked up the endorsement of the “Hispanic 100,” a group of wealthy Latino businesspeople, who are predominantly Republicans. They include John Cruz, who is now Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger’s Appointments Secretary. I believe that former U.S. Treasurer Rosario Marin, who is now Schwarzenegger’s Secretary of State and Consumer Services, is also a member.
Supervisor Nguyen has really been racking up the endorsements of late. Here are the ones she has listed on her website at the moment:
- Bill Leonard, State Board of Equalization, State of California
- Congressman Ed Royce, 40th District, U.S House Representatives
- Senator Dick Ackerman, 34th District, Republican Leader
- Senator Tom Harman, 35th District
- Senator Marian Bergeson (Ret.)
- Assemblyman Jim Silva, 67th District
- Assemblywoman Mimi Walters, 73rd District
- Assemblyman Bob Huff, 60th District
- Pat Bates, Board of Supervisors, 5th District, Orange County
- Bill Campbell, Board of Supervisors, 3rd District, Orange County

- Former Chairman Bill Steiner, Board of Supervisors, 4th District (Ret.), Orange County
- Former Chairwoman Cynthia P. Coad, Board of Supervisors, 4th District (Ret.), Orange County
- John S. Williams, Public Administrator, Orange County
- Curt Pringle, Mayor, City of Anaheim
- Bill Dalton, Mayor, City of Garden Grove

I am also hearing that MANY Santa Ana Democrats are backing Supervisor Nguyen – and some of them are going to do so publicly. I don’t blame them. They don’t have a horse in this race – and Supervisor Nguyen has been very active in the First District. She has very ably filled the void left when former Supervisor Lou Correa moved on to the State Senate.
It sure looks like Supervisor Nguyen is going to run away with the election in June. I have a feeling that her two Trannie opponents won’t even be in the same zip code when the dust settles…
Art, I know you’re trying to pump up your chosen candidate, which is fine — but headlining the Hispanic 100 endorsement after the way you’ve trashed that group?
Here’s what you said in a December 28, 2006 comment about the Hispanic 100 endorsing Bustamante for Supervisor:
I wonder how many of these “Hispanic 100” know the price of a gallon of leche? With all due respect, these are rich guys who have nothing in common with the working people of the 1st District.
Here’s how you characterized them on Jan. 8 of this year in Navel Gazing comment:
Carlos and his rich GOP buddies in the Hispanic 100 are out of touch with the working people in Santa Ana.
If the Hispanic 100 is out of touch with 1st District working people, why tout their endorsement of Janet?
Democrat Mark Rosen is endorsing Republican Janet Nguyen.
Has everybody forgotten that there is still, technically, a Democrat in this race (Hoa Van Tran))?
Good job Jubal!
Pedroza likes to have his cake and eat it too. Thanks to you he won’t be able to.
If Miguel Pulido decides to support Janet will he suddenly be viewed as a great mayor in the eyes of Pedroza?
The Hispanic “100” has never been bigger than maybe ten peacocks at best. They love to be invited to and seen at important events, but they never do anything or have any clout. They pump each other up with “You da man!”, but that’s the extent of it. Most of the members can’t even speak Spanish as if that’s not a joke in itself.
This is a non-endorsement if I’ve ever seen one.
As for the rest of the Republican ‘Incumbancy Protection Club” endorsements, they are all obligatory. Almost all of those names on the list can’t stand Janet personally or professionally, but they have to hold their noses and give the incumbent “pat on the back” so they to receive the same. What a joke.
Even more of a joke is the fact that none of those Republicans on the list have any clout in Central Orange County. The voters there don’t know and don’t care who these people are. And, none of them will give money to Janet nor any other support as well. This is a paper tiger list at best.
I believe change is a comin’ in the 1st. I believe it will be Dina Nguyen and I predict she wins way more convincingly than 3 votes. Janet doesn’t have the luxury of a crowded field. She’s done as she should be.
Janet is known to change her mind before you can blink your eye.
Janet will ask for your votes from latinos for now but she will be the first one to sign anti mexican immigrant bills in a heart beat.
Note her endorser Assemblyman Bob Huff (look up the endorsement list from top) just completed writing a several anti immigration bills against mexicans.
I don’t trust Janet and she will lose this election.
Many of those on Janet’s list of endorsements also endorse Van Tran. Does that not make them Trannies?
And if so, does that not make Janet one by proxy?
Matt,
Those are good questions. I have not changed my opinion re the members of the Hispanic 100. I noted their endorsement not because it will matter to the people of the First District, because it won’t, but rather because it means that Supervisor Nguyen is attracting support from well-healed donors. That is worthy of reporting.
So, to recap, this does not matter to the people in my area. But it means that Supervisor Nguyen is going to be able to raise money that her Trannie opponents won’t be able to come close to. And it further means that she is now making inroads with powerful people in Sacramento that work for Gov. Schwarzenegger. That too is a positive for her.
I hope that clears this up for you. Thanks for reading my blog and for taking the time to comment here.
#2,
Please. Hoa Van Tran was outed already for what he is – a Trannie – a supporter of Assemblyman Van Tran. No Democrat is going to lift a finger for this unknown guy.
#3,
It is a fact that Pulido tried very hard to get Councilman David Benavides into the race against Supervisor Nguyen. So no, I don’t think he will be backing the Supervisor. However, stranger things have happened, so who knows? It makes sense for Pulido to try to get along with Supervisor Nguyen. Whether he can figure that out remains to be determined.
But no, his eventual endorsement of Supervisor Nguyen, while welcome, won’t change my opinion of the man we like to call “Pudrido.”
Art it’s ok to change your mind about Hispanic 100 but you must also change your stance on anti- mexican Janet as soon as possible.
Don’t trust Janet because she has burned many others in the past. Janet will ask for latino’s vote today only to back stab us later.
Janet is a female version of Tan Nguyen. The latino hate letter Janet has sent was not an accident and she will continue to look down on mexicans with a smile. Get rid of Janet.
#10,
I assure you, if Janet does anything racist I will be the first one to slam her. She knows that.
She is no racist.
BTW, Miguel Pulido appointed a MINUTEMAN to our library board – Lupe Moreno. Have you slammed him for that? Somehow I doubt it.
Mr. Jubal, You are such a stick in the mud! Don
Art, Why is Janet having such a hard time getting endorsments from Santa Ana elected officials?
Hispanic 100. These 10 members don’t even realize they’re a joke.
#12, why don’t you spit it out! Tell Jubal to join Democratic Party!
Jubal should follow Art’s foot steps. Leave right wing christian believers and join our movement of inclusion.
Nowdays, without Gays, abortionists and Atheists support, Jubal has no political future.
Art, you are messed up big time. How can you go against the teachings from the bible?
I will pray for your troubled heart and hopefully you will redirect your life to become a loving child of God again.
You can denounce the church or christians but you must maintain close relationship with God.
God does not condone homosexuality and He dislikes murdering our unborns. You can FLOW with people but unfotunately they can not offer you the true lasting peace nor salvation.
Regarding Pedroza flip-flopping on issues, people, you name it – appears to me he views his function on this blog as to keep stirring the pot any way he can in order to produce posts. Seems to be working, though he will never get a prize for having convictions, much less sticking to any.
I see Dina will be first on the ballot! That will probably keep Janet from winning. So sad.
