Busted! New York Governor Elliot Spitzer, a Democrat who supports Hillary Clinton for President, “has told senior advisers that he had been involved in a prostitution ring,” according to the New York Times, as reported in the Sacramento Bee.
The Bee reports that, “Spitzer is scheduled to make an announcement Monday afternoon. Spitzer officials wouldn’t immediately comment on the story. Spitzer, 48, is married and has three daughters.”
Spitzer’s problems with women of ill repute make him a dishonorable member of the Clinton “family!”
UPDATE: Steven Greenhut has weighed in on Spitzer’s downfall over at the Orange Punch blog. Here are his comments:
TV news shows have depicted the fall of New York Gov. Eliot Spitzer as some sort of tragedy, after the New York Times reported on his connection in a prostitution scandal. This is no tragedy. It is great news
Marital infidelity doesn’t seem to bother Hillary Clinton. She has been seen with this guy, Villaraigosa, Fabian Nunez (with whom Villaraigosa shared that Telemundo reporter with), etc.
So much for feminism and demanding respect within one’s personal life, huh? Some of these Dems behave like Mormon polygamists.
I feel for Spitzer’s wife and children.
Well Art, I gotta give you props for creativity. Is there ANYTHING that you can’t link back to Hillary?
We get it…you hate Hillary. What’s sad is you’ll engage in the most ridiculous tactics in order to imply some sort of nefarious connection.
You’re sounding more and more like the right wing noise machine.

Tell us how Hillary would have known in advance about Spitzer’s alleged involvement in a prostitution ring?
How can that “bother” Clinton if she doesn’t even know about it?
I thought the Dem.’s have already said clearly that sex is private and if the elected is doing the job then we should ignore it.
Does anyone know why he had to pay thousands for sex? Is the guy really that ugly?
Anon 3, you are right, Hillary may not have known about Spitzer and the prostitutes, but the Clintons have many sources.
More to the point though… why does she court the support of these types?
In the past two months, she has had Villaraigosa all over the place campaigning for her… his scandal is still rather fresh in the public eye. Why does she insist on parading these kinds of men around? Is this in the spirit of sisterhood or some other point I’m missing?
Hillary is quick to point fingers at journalists who use the word “pimp” in reference to her daughter, yet she will be seen publicly with men whose actions are more hurtful than the actual words.

How do you know maritial infidelity doesn’t bother Sen. Clinton?
Your sad post about feminism clearly says confirms you know squat about feminism.
And who made you the marital czarina?
You hurl accusations then retreat to your cave with nary a word.
Remember loose lips sink ships.

Is that a serious question?
Another case of an elected, after being treated like a rock star by hordes of admirers (and probably some who feared his power, blieving he is indeed a rock star and can take chances. The pattern repeats, and repeats and repeats. The elected who does not succumb to the power and prestige of office and begin to act like he or she really is special and not subject to all the rules others are subject to is all too rare. A sad reality of being placed in a leadership position, it seems. As for Hillary, is Spitzer one of those super-delegates?
fattoria 12, I don’t think that marital infidelity bothers Senator Clinton, at least not while she’s trying to run for President or achieve higher office. If it did, she might have left her husband or tried to find better surrogates who actually value their wives and families enough to not drag them through the mud with affairs in the public eye. Shouldn’t we expect more from our highly paid public officials?
As for feminism, I don’t think that Hillary Clinton is a champion of feminism. She’s climbing up on the back of her husband and claiming his experience in office as her own. Also, she does have a double standard when it comes to language hurled at her daughter vs. the actions of her surrogates against their own wives. And why should feminists tolerate documented cheating? Should I ever have a daughter, I wouldn’t want her to think that she needs to stand by a man who violates her trust.
I’m no marital czarina (actually, I think that more people should stay single), but if you are going to parade your family around to help you win office, then it becomes fodder for criticism. Hillary Clinton doesn’t need to have Bill Clinton acting as her attack dog. I would be more impressed with her if she stood on her own.
And as for retreating to my cave, I’m still here. I link the source of my “cave” (blog), so I’m not hiding.

Your gift to get into someone else’s head leaves one utterly speechless. And your proclaimation that Hillary is no champion of feminism merely punctuates your lack of not fully understanding feminism.
Hillary and Bill’s personal relationship is NONE of your business and your smart ass attitude of passing judgement lacks good judgement. If Hillary made the personal decision to stay will Bill that’s her decision. Your badge of singlehood helps explain your lack of fully understanding personal and committed relationships within a marriage.
Whatever decision Hillary or Mrs. Spitzer made regarding their husbands indiscretions I respect their decisions. And that’s one dimension of feminism; supporting another sister’s decision! And not kicking her when she’s down.
Capece?
anonymous, I don’t wear a badge of singlehood. How do you know my marital status? Your ability to read into my marital status displays your own ignorance.
If Bill and Hillary’s personal relationships are none of our business, why does Hillary reference them and respond to inquiries when questioned? She was on one of the religious channels talking about prayer in reference to her marital difficulties. Seriously, if she doesn’t want us to analyze these issues, she should not talk about them at all, and her husband should not get caught in the public eye with interns. I would expect this kind of behavior from Larry Craig or Sen. Vitter.
Do you think many feminists condone inappropriate relationships with interns and prostitutes? The whole intern (Monica-gate) issue is one of the most offensive incidents of sexual harassment in the last ten years. Maybe sexual harassment doesn’t bother you like it does me.
Adriana,
Chappaquiddick, Adriana, Chappaquiddick. Obama ’08, right?
Why are you so hung up on other people’s personal relationships? Do you know you are supporting? Maybe you, like Art, are projecting yourself?
And do you really think HRC had nothing to do with Bill Clinton getting his presidency?
Hillary ’08
Adriana-
I don’t care one iota if you’re single, married, divorced or separated. Your continued insistance of graffitting your ignorance is getting tedious.
Your observation that the Lewinsky-Clinton matter was a most aggregious sexual harrasment incident in the past decade is laughable! Why you continue to deride women is beyond me.
In no am reading your mind, but maybe you have “daddy” issues.
HRC played a significant role in Bill’s quest for the presidency.
