Romney surging in California, to Van Tran’s consternation

Well, it’s Election Day, and a new poll shows that Mitt Romney is making a comeback in California. His campaign has certainly been very active. I personally have received at least three annoying robo-calls from his campaign. Here are a few excerpts about the Romney surge from the San Francisco Chronicle:

Just when it seemed the presidential contest couldn’t get more exciting,a Zogby poll puts former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney ahead of Arizona Sen. John McCain in California by eight points.

That’s at sharp odds with a Field Poll released Sunday that has McCain up by eight points in the Golden State, which really is a pot of delegate gold for both Republicans and Democrats.

Political experts often discount Zogby polls as unreliable and put a lot more weight in the state Field Poll. Yet while Zogby used a small sample of just 915 likely voters, with a 3.3 point margin of error on both sides, the Field Poll sample was even smaller, at 481 likely GOP voters.

My wife, who is the Republican in our household, already voted a few weeks ago for McCain. But we are still getting those annoying Romney calls – so they are calling all Republicans, not just the ones who have not voted.

The one positive to all this is that Assemblyman Van Tran and his “Trannies” have all been crowing about the impending McCain victory in California that Tran is taking all the credit for. Tran is even throwing a party to celebrate the McCain victory. Here is the Tran press release about his McCain party:

California State Assemblyman Van Tran invites volunteers and local residents to a reception at the Little Saigon Outreach Headquarters in Westminster to cheer on their favorite candidate in the California Presidential Primary and watch the election results.

The reception will take place this Tuesday, February 5, 2008 from 7pm-10pm. Along with live satellite coverage of the election results, snacks and drinks will be served.

WHAT: Election Night Reception

WHERE: Asian Village, Little Saigon Outreach Headquarters, 9191 Bolsa Avenue, Suite 209 (Second Floor), Westminster, CA 92683

To RSVP for the election night reception or for Assemblyman Van Tran’s media availability, please contact Dave Everett at (951) 233-7804 or by email at daveleoneverett@gmail.com.

If Romney wins California Tran is going to look like an ass. That would be something worth celebrating!
