It’s a shame that the only Republican on the City Council would allow his own brother to do something so despicable in his own ward. Maybe this is just another reason why Carlos will never be a serious choice for higher elected office.
how is it that Code Enforcemnent hasn’t stepped in to inspect these units? Oh I know. Its a councilman’s brother and Mayor Pudrido won’t let Code Enforcement go near the Roach Commander’s property. I despise the inappropriate colors they painted the beautiful Buffalo Apts, and the fact they chopped the huge landscape cactus to the ground with no replacement.
That being said, whether you like Bustamante or not,it is ridiculous to assume that Carlos knows ANYTHING about the particulars of his brothers rental building. Really now, if you want to beat on Carlos, do it fof something he’s responsible for, not his brother.
too bad renters do not have a right to sue the landlords for not maintaining their properties.
It appears the Bustamante brothers have joined the elite club of Mike Harrah and Kris Kakkar known as THE SLUM LORDS OF SANTA ANA.
the rental income probably is not enough to cover the mortgage on the property. For older buildings like that I probably would reserve 40% of the income for maintenance.
Rents probably need to be raised in order to cover the cost of maintenance plus debt service.
of course owners need to be mindful that they do not raise the rents above local market rates for comparable units/location.
also get a property management company that keeps their owners informed and also does not charge too much.
