Hillary and Bill Clinton are coming to Santa Ana tomorrow, February 4th, from 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. (line starts forming at 5:00 a.m.), at Santa Ana College, located at 1530 W. 17th Street.
In recent days Barack Obama has caught up with Clinton. And Obama has made a lot of progress in the Latino community since it became apparent that he is more supportive of immigrants than Clinton. His endorsement by La Opinion certainly helped in that regard.
So the Clintons are panicking and packing their bags for Santa Ana – where Mayor Miguel Pulido will welcome them with open arms. Which brings me to a question. Pulido has raised over $70,000 for the bogus Measure D. There is no way he has spent more than $45,000 thus far, on the two mailers and illegal robo-calls that have come out in favor of Measure D. Could it be that he will spend some of that money on the Clinton event?
What an interesting way for Pulido to curry the favor of the Clintons. After all, he wants to be appointed the Ambassador to Mexico. And Pulido has a history of taking credit for other people’s money.
So if you go to the event, there is a good chance that the snacks, balloons and security will be provided by Measure D campaign money. Vote No on Measure D! (And vote for Obama while you are at it!).
I wonder if Hillary will try to eat some tacos with Pulido, like she did with L.A. Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa? Readers – can you recommend a taco joint in Santa Ana for Hillary and Miguelito?
UPDATE:
The O.C. Register is reporting that Congresswoman Loretta Sanchez will welcome the Clintons at the above-referenced event.
UPDATE:
Hillary did not make it. She sent Bill instead and he hung out with Loretta Sanchez. Not sure I would have trusted Bill with Loretta…
Maybe the Clintonistas could deign to stop one block over at Wilson Elementary, 1317 N. Baker, and revel in a school site that:
a) was built in 1972 for 600 students but serves over 800 students (and has served as many as 1100!)
b) has no parking lot (lucky for them, they won’t be there on Tuesday when the city tickets folks for parking on the street because it is “street-sweep” day)
c) is a PI4 school because of ongoing low test scores (of course, most other schools don’t serve 99% low-income Hispanic students)
d) has woeful playgrounds with playground equipment over thirty years old, no safety playing surfaces under the equipment, and lots of dead grass
e) and a hard-working staff that is constantly remonstrated (by administrators who are “Peter Principle” poster children) that if only they would improve in their teaching the students’ scores would improve.
I don’t think the Clintonista bandwagon wants to churn down that trail…too many questions to answer and lawyers like them don’t want to answer honestly.
Art, I don’t see Obama here.
I hope that whoever our next President is will be able to live up to half of what President Bill Clinton accomplished.
Poster 2,
Bill Clinton was President when the Internet blew up and powered our economy. There was also a construction boom in that time. I really find it difficult to give him much credit for any of that.
And I find his pardons of criminals to be absolutely disgusting. That he handed out the pardons in return for donations to his library is just sick.
The Bush administration has been stupid – and inept. But the Clintons were corrupt. I don’t want to see them get their hands on the White House again.
Don’t forget the shame Bill brought on the White House with his philandering. We need a President who will take his job, and his marriage, seriously. That man is Senator Barack Obama.
Art,
You are fast becoming a real conspiracy theorist my friend. How can you prove that Measure D money will be used for security at this event.
Remember, If Measure D fails, Claudia will be taking on Janet Nguyen. If that happens, she will trounce Janet quite handidly. You should be in favor of Measure d if you want to keep Janet Nguyen in office on the 5th floor.
Poster 5,
Let’s see if Mike Gonzalez, the fellow who gave $3,000 to the Measure D campaign, has his security company goons at the event. That should answer your question.
As for Claudia running against Supervisor Nguyen…bring it on! Nguyen already handled Claudia’s compadre – Carlos “Space Commander” Bustamante. She will trounce Crazy Claudia too…
If Measure D fails, Claudia will be taking on Janet Nguyen. If that happens, she will trounce Janet
Claudia couldn’t beat a third grader at tic-tac-toe.
So if Clinton comes here it’s pandering to Latinos and if Obama did it, it wouldn’t be.
That makes absolutely no sense.
To bad, they should have come earlier and joined the parade.
Maybe the neighborhood should be investing in their neighborhood school. It’s always someone else’s problem, right?
One reason other cities have good school systems is because residents invest their time in them.
Wilson school is a perfect example of a neighborhood’s failure to invest their time.
Art, how can you be a TRUE supporter of Obama, and also engage in this kinda of petty politics. This is the kind of thing Obama wants to see LESS of. Get with the program bro.

Investing in their local school? I thought that was called taxes and bond issues. Wilson School is among three built on this design, all built roughly at the same time. The other two have parking lots for teachers. If you knew the neighborhood you would know many watch over the school and report problems there. You would also know a significant number of students that attend do not live in the immediate neighborhood.
I saw Michele Martinez at the Clinton rally…I thought she was an Obama girl? I guess she is covering her bases…

Maybe you’re on to something.
Floral Park should pony up and donate $22,000 to its local school.
We’ve had to listen to their rants about being good residents and help defray the cost of a median.
Demonstrate you’re really the good neighbors you claim.
Step up Floral Park and help out Santiago ES.
#13,
Interesting. Well, some politicians will go to great lengths to rub elbows with the powerful and connected.
#11 – you are SPOT ON. The whole idea behind the Obama campaign is the bring unity instead of these childish conspiracy theories. Art has no business is responsible and ethical politics. His words and actions speak volumes.
#1. President Clinton did walk past a neighborhood school this AM.
Just not yours.
Don’t be such a selfish hack.
