O.C. Supervisor John Moorlach was unanimously selected by his peers on the Board of Supervisors to lead them as Chairman as the current Chair, Chris Norby, steps down. That means Supervisor Janet Nguyen voted for him too. I hope this means that they will start to get along. Moorlach needs to support his fellow incumbent.
According to the L.A. Times, Moorlach “spoke of continuing his predecessor’s practice of making board meetings more efficient and protecting county revenue from a potential raid by the state in a down economy.”
Supervisor Pat Bates will be the new Vice Chair of the Board of Supervisors. I also found out recently that Norby will be the next Chair of the O.C.T.A.’s Board of Directors.
Let’s see what the new leadership can accomplish. The public employee’s pension crisis still looms ahead…
Unanimous votes on things like this are for public appearances, all to rally around the winner. Whether others sought the Chairmanship and lost the race will probably never be known. It is incorrect to view a unanimous vote as some kind of unanimous empowerment.
Great! A guy who wanted the Board of Supervisors to have the power to be able to vote to get rid of other County-wide elected officials and circumvent the voters is now the Chair of the Board of Supervisors.
Perhaps we could get Hitler to chair the Human Relations Commission.’
Congratulations More Government Moorlach!
The Citizens Oversight Review
Commttee for the Sheriff’s Office
is NOT a good idea. Either was
having the NBPD take over the
Harbor Patrol from the County.
Ya see…boredom is an awful thing..and when you get a clever
guy like Moorlach at the helm…
you are defintely going to be
going “all over the ocean” before
it’s over. He needs a “less is
more” bumper sticker. Having
the County put out ID cards for
the so-called “Medical Marijuana”
was also another terrible idea.
The one good idea…..of having
Chriss Street step-down or have
his investment options strongly
overseen…never even got a 2nd.
Too bad Norby, Moorlach & Bates
can’t be more like Bill Campbell.
Bill has only made ONE mistake in
all his years…not bad! He sets
a high bar! Even then, he was
trying to please someone!!
The so called public employee pension crisis is the result of elected officials, such as the Board of Supervisors, failing to fund their legal obligations and getting caught. The State Commission on public pensions just released its report after a year long fact finding process and – guess what – it calls for elected bodies to fund the pensions they have authorized. How novel. Next, someoone will suggest something similar for Social Security!!!
