Here’s a strange one. Apparently former State Senator Joe Dunn has been appearing in local T.V. commercials touting Fairhaven Memorial Park and Mortuary. That’s right – Joe and his wife are shilling for a cemetery.
I mentioned this to a friend tonight at Drinking Liberally. His response was classic – maybe Joe buried what is left of his political career at Fairhaven. Ouch!
In related news, we are STILL waiting for Dunn to make up his mind about whether he will run against O.C. Supervisor Janet Nguyen this year. What the heck is he waiting for? I am told he has been conducting polling. Maybe those cemetery ads will increase his name I.D. Lord knows he has been out of office now for awhile…
C’mon Joe – just run against Carlos “Space Commander” Bustamante for Ward 3 on the Santa Ana City Council! Then you can bury the Space Commander’s political ambitions too!
Art,
Please make up your mind first. We thought you will run against Carlos. What are you afraid of?
#1, C’mon Art is focused on the “No on D” campaign right now. Once he and Queen Michele defeat D they will use that success to catapult themselves into higher office. Where have you been?
Instead of wasting time on bashing Art, when is Joe Dunn going to announce his candidacy? Is he going to wait until the filing deadline like Tom Umberg? That was a great strategy.
Even if Joe runs for Supervisor, will he try to run for another office after a year, like Lou Correa did?
“Art is focused on the “No on D” campaign right now”
Who are you kidding? Art isnt focused onthat. Hell, no one is focused on that measure D Campaign. Michelle used to be focused on it but she got her ear chewed off by people who do nothing but talk and dont walk.
From what I hear from people who were in that campaign, Phil Bacerra, and Art have done nothing but give that thing lip service to the point of exhausting everyone in the room. All talk and no walk except for Michelle who ponied up some money Thomas Gordon who is working the best he can on it, and Dr Lomelli who is at least trying to do something with Measure D.
Art and Phil Bacerra are doing nothing but talking about how they would do this and how they would do that. And in the end, all they have done is waste everyones time. And then say, “Hey lets go to (Insert name of random pub here) and talk about it some more”
#2 I should add that “D” will be defeated by itself.
So Art and Michele will only gloat.
Maybe the ex-state senator is waiting to see if the states new term limit law passes.
Since new laws can
#4 and #5, the post was about Joe Dunn and his political career, not the latest on Measure D.
We all know that Measure D will be defeated. We just don’t know when our former State Senator plans to announce his candidacy for Supervisor.
Joe Dunn would be a great Democratic candidate, if only he would hurry up and make up his mind.
He has a high paid job as a lobbyist which keeps him active in political circles. Casting that aside to seek or assume a political office that pays a fraction of what he is making now would be illogical, seems to me. Presently he has the best of both worlds – those worlds being income and involvement in political activities.
I’m not surprised that Fairhaven is doing ads. They are a HUGE high pressure scam. They are like used car salesmen but worse because they are dealing with grieving family members. Most people don’t know that the County owned and operated Santa Ana Cemetery right next to Fairhaven (They look like one big cemetery and appear to be one and the same but they are not) is a fraction of the cost without the time share style sales pitches. When my grandma died they gave me the old, “but if you buy the plot by tonight at 5PM I can offer you x y and z in savings, etc…” Avoid Fairhaven at all costs and go to the Santa Ana Cemetery unless you have more money than good sense. Another bit of dirt on Fairhaven is that they bury most of the Mexicans on the new part North of Fairhaven and sell against the Santa Ana Cemetery as being for “those kind of people” Some reporter should do a 60 minutes piece on it and see if I’m right or wrong!
heard that the CMA board members are quite upset with the new rumors of Dunn wanting to run. i can’t believe he would burn these bridges to just end up losing
i thought the dems were upset with correa leaving to run for another seat. are you kidding yourself that dunn won’t run for something in 2010? i guess it is ok if dunn runs for something else since he is the dem’s golden child
dunn is DONE. can’t wait to see another lost for dunn.
Dunn for State Controller 06-LOST
Dunn for Supervisor 07-LOST
Dunn for Attorney General 10-LOST
Mike Garcia, please run for Supervisor!
Isn’t that commmercial old? I mean, hasn’t that commercial been running for years?
