Is there anything more offensive in this year’s presidential primaries than Hillary Clinton uttering the words “Si se puede?” Hillary is trying to take out the first African American presidential candidate to actually have a real shot at the White House, and she has the nerve to trot that phrase out? Give me a break!
But wait, there’s more: “Help us reach our common purpose,” Clinton said at a rally touting her support within the Hispanic community. “The common purpose of America is progress, not just for the wealthy and the well-connected, but everyone. Every single person deserves a shot at the American dream. That is why I’m running for president.” (Associated Press).
Incredible! Hillary is now trying to compare herself to working class Americans and immigrants who are trying to make it in this country. I’m not buying this B.S.! Hillary has NOTHING in common with the Latino community. And no, she is NOT running in order to realize the American Dream. She just wants the power that comes with the U.S. Presidency.
Here are a few more excerpts from the AP:
But she’s not conceding Nevada’s caucuses, or the Hispanic voting bloc. On Thursday, she went door-to-door in a largely Hispanic neighborhood here with Ruben Kihuen, a charismatic member of the state Assembly who is helping her campaign. She went to East Los Angeles a day later to eat at King Taco on Cesar Chavez Boulevard with Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa. And on Saturday, she came back to Las Vegas and Reno to build support among Hispanics.
Nationally, among Hispanics who are registered Democrats, 59 percent said they want Clinton to be their party’s presidential candidate, followed by 15 percent who prefer Obama, according to a survey released last month by the nonpartisan Pew Hispanic Center.
Say it ain’t so! The Clintons have an awful record with regard to immigration and Latino issues. Eating tacos won’t change that.
We have a chance this year to elect a minority as our next President. And the Democratic power structure is once again trying to elect a white lawyer. Why am I not surprised by this? The Democrats tell us again and again that they are the party of the minority. That is utter crap! They are no better than the Republicans in this regard.
I cannot believe that Latino voters are falling for this B.S. If you want to make a difference, the Barack Obama campaign is encouraging volunteers in California to travel to Nevada to help with Obama’s campaign in that key western state. Here is a note to that effect from the Obama campaign:
Whether you’re a seasoned veteran or a first-time volunteer, you’ll have the experience of a lifetime. Sign up to take a trip to Nevada this Thursday through Saturday and help Barack win the Nevada caucuses:
With the first two contests of the 2008 Democratic primary process behind us — and the eyes of the nation now focused on Nevada — you have the chance to make history this week.
Saturday’s caucuses there won’t just be a test of which candidate can inspire the most supporters. They’ll also be a test of which campaign can rally those supporters and make sure everyone gets to the right location on Caucus Day.
That’s why people from across California are going out to Nevada to meet our staff and fellow supporters, spend a few days in Las Vegas, and help build our movement in the crucial final 48 hours.
Sign up to take a trip to Nevada this Thursday through Saturday and make a difference for Barack!
I have been blogging about this too, but it seems that many Latinos have already sold themselves out to the Hillary folks. And for what?!
I can’t believe the nerve of Villaraigosa to leave LA to go hop on the Hillary train. Maybe he’s hopping to meet a new Spanish language TV reporter or maybe clean up after Bill Clinton’s leftovers.
I finally think that a few Latinos in CA endorsed Obama, Gill Cedillo and Martha Escutia, if I’m not mistaken.
Art,
You sound like a republican.
What will do when Clinton is the candidate? Switch back to republican?
Mary,
Under no circumstances would I ever vote for Clinton. If she is the Democratic nominee I will either vote for the Republican (somewhat unlikely as I don’t like most of their candidates at all) or vote for an independent candidate, such as the Libertarian Party candidate. I do hope however that New York Mayor Mike Bloomberg will run. I will vote for him if he does.
Now if Obama wins the nomination, then all bets are off in the general…
Art –
What if Clinton plucks Obama as her running mate? Whatever will you do?
How juvenile to vote for someone based on their ethnicity. Rather, you should be voting on gender. It is about time we get a woman to lead us!
Seriously folks, this is an important race and we all should be weighing the candidate’s “experience”.
