Bad news for immigrants in Santa Ana. “The Mexican government has announced that it will remove Consul Luis Miguel Ortiz Haro from Santa Ana, provoking ire among community leaders who view him as an outspoken and unbending advocate for immigrants in Orange County,” according to Jennifer Delson of the L.A. Times.
The O.C. Register’s Yvette Cabrera also wrote about Haro’s removal, “Almost three years ago, Ortiz Haro launched what’s called “Mi
Hey Art,
Maybe the Mexican Government will take you with Haro.
With the way you’ve been posting lately, TJ would be a more appropriate place for your style of journalism.
Art regardless of your labels or descriptions the lines for SA citizens, residents, legal, illeagal, and immigrant have become way too blurry. There is a difference, when you acknowlege the difference and put your efforts towards SA residents you will find you will have much more support. Your all inclusive, sanctuary city approach will simply not fly with the majorty of us regardless of our ethnicity. One City can’t be all things to all people no matter who is in charge.
So, what is Michelle Martinez doing about this?
LOL how does it feel to have everyone turn on you Art, including your so called “Latino” friends.
I think they finally realized you do much more harm than good.
#3,
Martinez is fighting Measure D that is what she is doing about this. As we know if Measure D is defeated cancer will be cured, hunger ended, poverty eliminated and Consul Luis Miguel Ortiz Haro brought back to Santa Ana.
Art, your posts have become ridiculous. Take a vacation. This action is a widely accepted procedure after any election and an internal affair of the Mexican govt. Are you a Mexican citizen? What a waste of a blogspace!
Please stick to the issues. What does Councilwoman Martinez have to do with this issue. People need to grow up…
Democracy is great:
If you don’t like the way councilwoman Michele Martnez is governing you have the opportunity in 2010 to replace her. End of story…
Maybe it will be good for Haro to go.
He and his ofice in Santa Ana have been responsible for helping to undermine federal laws on immigration. By helping those here illegally to stay here, he is technically a criminal, but with diplomatic immunity, there is little that can be done about it.
Perhaps he will be replaced with a consul that understands the meaning of the word sovereignty and has more respect for American laws.
