Luis Rodriguez, our co-blogger, resigned tonight from the Santa Ana Housing & Redevelopment Commission, during public comments at the Commission meeting tonight. He resigned to show support for Thomas Gordon, who was thrown off the EPIC/Gang Commission yesterday by Councilman Sal Tinajero and his Council cronies.
There is word that several additional commissioners will be quitting before the end of the year, again in support of Thomas.
Thanks Luis for standing by your friends!
Luis and Art I really admire you for standing up for your principles. Many readers may not know that the board they quit is the second most important in the city and pays $300/month. Not much money but to these men with kids it would been nice to have. They were willing to give up the power and money to stand by a brother. This is the true meaning of friendship. I hope others will quit as well. Make the council look for other people to do their dirty work!
Luis,
While I understand why, it saddens me to see you resign.
What we disagree on is minor compared with what we do agree on. I know that you would have made good choices, because they were good, not because it was the thing to do to get along.
Another one bites the dust
Another one bites the dust
And another one gone, and another one gone
Another one bites the dust
Hey, I’m gonna get you too
Another one bites the dust
One question: Is Luis’ resignation from his post in support of Thomas or more a well deserved slap in the face to “sellout” Sal? I would venture on the latter. Though there is mutual respect between them, I don’t know Luis to be Thomas’ good buddy.
It is no secret that Thomas can be a hothead at times as squishy sellout Sal knew before he appointed him. Supposedly being a teacher, one would think he would have had the maturity to simply ask Thomas to resign as Mr Gordon suggested earlier. Rather, slimy squishy sellout Sal chose to make a spectacle of the whole matter and polarize many voters.
Once he is up for his next election, Art, Thomas, and now Luis and many others will remind voters how much of a sellout he has become as I warned people before he was elected to the Council. Isn’t the blogosphere great?!
My only other question is directed to his sycophant buddy, S. Mill. Hey Sean, how does it feel to be a de facto Pudrido supporter?
Bunch of Beauty School Drop Outs.
Hmmm… it will be interesting to see if Commissioners Julie Stroud, Tish Leon and Claudio Gallegos resign as well.
Luis,
You are an idiot…you never resign
in “Favor” of someone! You resign
“Against” someone! You use your
position to lobby for Thomas and
his reinstatement…from that position!
Ridiculous!
Quiter’s
How easy it is to quit.
It is a sad day to learn that people who have said they have a better idea, for our city, turn out to be quiter’s.
Thomas didn’t quit.
Point of Clarification….
My departure from the Housing and Redevelopment commission should not be viewed as a reactionary event. It is a decision that was pending for some time. Although, I am disappointed in my city council, with the exception of Michele, the ultimately reason for my resignation is work related. As many of you can tell, I have not posted in a while because I simply do not have time. I believe a commissioner should be able to attend all meetings and give the actions the time the deserve. I felt I was failing to do so.
I agree the timing is bad, but I had no choice, I have a feeling the next meeting would have been cancelled due to the holidays, and I absolutely would no longer be able to attend in January, so the choice was clear.
Winships- I dont quit. I would have loved you to have given me the benefit of doubt, but you like most people were quick to judge.
Furthermore, I do have a mutual level of respect for Sal Tinajero, but I must admit I am also dissapointed in him. He is failing to be the city councilmember I hoped he would be.
Lastly, I do consider Thomas a good friend, and feel awful the city would reward his efforts in such a manner. Thomas and I agree on more things than you would be surprise. I wish him the best of luck and know titles mean nothing to him, and we should all expect to see great things from him.
To all readers- I will do my best to post articles as much as I can, since I do miss it soo much.
Luis Rodriguez
Why would anybody serve on a city commission in Santa Ana when the appointing councilmember is just going to yank you for made up reasons, unless you are just a big kiss ass to the appointing councilmember?
“Resignation”…it is a word which
means: “Resigned to the situation
or outcome in advance!”
When you are on the outs on any
board….it is your responsibility
to “stand your ground”…unless…
you are guilty of wrong doing..or
you have personal excuse..like a
sick mom to take care of. Otherwise, you serve your “term
of office”…biting your lip the
entire way…if necessary. All
this “Well, we will ALL quit non-
sense…”is ludicrous. What do you
think that will prove? Who will
they get to replace you? Get it?
You never quit…you go out kicking
and screaming that you have been
had by the “bad guys”! You get
heard big time and are also positioned to attack your replacement…if necessary!
Winships,
Do you have some kind of A.D.D.? thought I explained why I resigned my position? I will be working and therefore can not attend the meetings.
I hope that is clear enough for you.
