The O.C. Register is reporting that we are now in a full-blown water shortage here in Orange County. “The county isn’t facing the kind of strict water limits and usage penalties it saw in the early 1990s
Hi, I found this article while researching Alex Cherniss, who is likely to be appointed Superintendent of Beverly Hills Unified…
Art,
I hear Cribb’s puppet on the Planning Commission, Vicky “Hawaiian Condo” Betancourt, was pushing for increased landscaping standards. Do these morons not understand that we are in the middle of a water crisis?
Rumor has it that Vicky’s plan has been shot down. Hopefully some of the others on the commission will have some common sense and shut her down.
The city needs to revisit its guidelines regarding brown lawns. Some residents are doing their best to be proactive regarding the water shortage.
After all, we do live in an arid region that is considered desert-like.
Seriously man, what do you want here? I run with my dog in Santiago Park and feel it’s seriously a neglected sh!thole that needs vast improvement if it’s ever to attract anything other than gay sex cruisers and other misfits. What are you considering a viable option? Doesn’t it pain you and your neighbors to stop foot in there and think about how horrible it looks? And to the rest of your points, this isn’t Irvine, if they skipped street cleaning I’d be knee deep in plastic bags, bimbo snack wrappers and styrofoam cups in a matter of days. Insofar as Ream pushing medians, I’m sure there were some thoughts of beautification there but I would go a step further and say it’s helped stop some head on collisions from the hombres after a little too much drinky drink. Lastly, the city as do most now use reclaimed water to irrigate. So it’s really a net zero effect. So, if you want to soap box that one you’d better be prepared to have your facts lined up.
Poster 3,
Were you AT the meeting? I don’t think so. The greenery they were talking about was bushes that they want to plant along the block wall that separates the park from the neighborhood.
I agree with you…they ought to try watering the grass first! The City also killed the grass at Centennial Park in the same manner.
As for the reclaimed water, yes you can use it to water the bushes and palm trees, but it can also be used to keep the ocean water out of our water table.
“gay sex cruisers”
No wonder our good buddy Donny Cribb is involved.
There is not a water shortage.

Art, I’m with you on transitioning over from water guzzling plants to native and/or drought tolerant plants, but why in the world would we want more concrete and artificial turf?
I’m cool with some nice hardscape like along walkways and patio areas, but man, it kinda burns to see properties that go full-blown concrete. Too raw!
9:25,
I hear you. Concrete is so Hemet. I too prefer going with rocks and native plants.
Plus nopalitos are tasty!
