You may have noticed a few glitches on our blog today. We are working on transitioning to our new website. Our new URL is EASY to remember, just go to www.orangejuiceblog.com.
We are also gearing up to sell advertisements on our site. I am confident that our blog has the most diverse readership of any blog in Orange County. Our purple blogging staff encompasses Republicans, Democrats and Independents. Our writers range from liberals to conservatives to moderates and beyond. Our readers likewise hail from all corners of the Orange County political spectrum.
I think we have a lot to offer to potential advertisers. But one thing I will never offer is to blur the line between what we choose to write about and who our advertisers are. None of my writers are consultants. We do what we do because we care, not because we serve a political machine. That separates us from some of the other blogs in town.
I am working with our webmaster to come up with a fair advertising rate card. We should have it ready in a week or so. In the meantime, I thank you all for reading our blog. Stay tuned. There is no shortage of outrages for us to write about. Whether or not we will sell any ads remains to be determined, but I can assure you that we won’t run out of crooked, corrupt Orange County politicians to write about. And maybe we’ll write about some of the good ones too!
Good luck with the venture into capitalism, Art. If you could pick up a articulate moderate or two I think that would be helpful.
Good luck Art. I think a conservative Christian would be a nice addition to blog pen.
Anon 9:37,
We have one, Larry Gilbert and he is doing a great job. Of course he rarely focuses on those issues, preferring issues like property right, eminent domain and being a county watchdog.
Even though I am very critical of the Christian right, I would welcome someone who focused on that, especially to be able to debate them. I have thought about asking one of the Scriptorium Daily professor bloggers to join us, but most of them live in LA County and we do have a rule that you must reside in the OC.
Hey Art,
The text window is too small. You need to expand it, until then I will stick with the original site.
And it takes as long to load as the old one!
Art, this is No. 1. Just came back in and for first time saw the new banner, advertisements at top. First thing I saw was that shrill stick-person Ann Coulter! Next you’ll be running ads from Move-on-dot.com.! While I like the idea of applying business principles to this blog (i.e. – trying to generate a little revenue) I hope I don’t have to eat my words of encouragement on the subject. Hope you have not opened pandora’s box!
Anonymous 9:37 a.m. and Claudio.
While I am a conservative Christian, accept for one brief comment, I chose not to post on Claudio’s “age to enlightenment series.”
At times I have to smile. Some argue for “separation of church and state” yet my silence in debating religion is a shortcoming?
When we can bring the Bible back into the classroom at our public schools give me a call and we will have a fiendly exchange on the topic. My Orange Juice preference, as evidenced by the past 12 months of my writing for this blog, has been, and will continue to be, stories dealing with questionable public policy and not religion.
As evidenced by the number of my posts we surely do not run out of material for you to weigh in on.
One last thought. While you will start to see paid ads on the home page, my posts, and those of my fellow bloggers, have no strings attached.
