The issue of public funding for the Bowers Museum has been hotly debated this week. Here is some information that came my way today from Thomas Gordon:
- Did you know that Bowers President Peter Keller made $172,150 in Fy 04-05?
- Did you know that Vicky Byrd, Bowers VP made $98,248 during the same period?
- Did you know that Rick Weinburg made $67,479 as Director of Marketing?……..Have they ever marketed to you?
- Did you know that Chris Townsend made $70,549 as a lobbyist for Bowers in Fy 04-05?
The other big issue has been the fact that the Bowers has almost no Santa Ana resients on its Board of Directors and Advisory Council. Let’s take a look at the places of residence of the Bowers’ Board members:
- Las Vegas
- Fullerton
- Coto de Caza (2)
- San Marino
- Villa Park
- Los Angeles
- San Juan Capistrano
- Santa Ana (Only 1!)
- Newport Beach (2)
- Corona del Mar
- Huntington Beach (3)
- Laguna Beach
- Mission Viejo
- Dana Point
- Orange
- Laguna Hills
It sure looks like Santa Ana Mayor Miguel Pulido is laundering money through the Bowers to Chris Townsend…
With one vote, just how does Pulido “launder” money?
SAEF Board has all sorts of people from a lot of other cities, too.
No wonder there are so many whiners about Michele who is young AND a Santa Ana resident. Some folks just don’t want the gravy train to stop.
Why exactly are the citizens of Santa Ana paying for this kind of insider’s country club?
It’s time for Santa Ana residents to take back Santa Ana and get rid of all these out of towners!!

Pulido only cast one vote himself, but his pals Bustamante and Benavides also voted to keep the Bowers gravy train alive.
Reason?
Because the money flows from the council to it special friends, and then is handed back come election time.

I love this!
Pulido released the boomerang by endorsing the Trojan Horse Candidates and now the boomerang is coming back in his direction.
It reaffirms my believe in the supply and demand equation.
FYI There will be a second reading on the budget and Bowers $$$ at the next council meeting so Tinajero can record a no vote on both if he so desires.

What’s the SAEF board? And how does it relate to this thread?
Thank you.
Poster 7,
Santa Ana Education Fund.
I don’t know much about that.
I am however tired of seeing outsiders running our non-profits and boards.
Can’t they pillage their own towns?
