I noticed a new mailer from the Tan Nguyen campaign yesterday – and so did Martin Wisckol, over at the Total Buzz (OC Register). Here is his assessment of the mailer:
Tan Nguyen strikes again
If you thought Tan was fading from view, think again. He’s hitting mailboxes with a slick glossy that claims his campaign’s controversial letter to foreign-born voters was not intimidation, and the resulting outrage was a “dirty trick” of 47th Congressional District opponent Rep. Loretta Sanchez, D-Garden Grove. That letter and Republican Tan Nguyen’s denial of having a direct hand in it led state attorney general investigators to raid Nguyen’s campaign office and take his computers.
The mailer carries the headline, “Computers Wrongly Seized are Returned!” (Here’s the front of the mailer and here’s the back.) Attorney general spokesman Nathan Barankin promptly issued a stern rebuttal that says, among other things, that the computers were not wrongly seized and were returned simply because investigators had finished downloading the hard drives. Click below to read Barankin’s press release.
“This guy (Nguyen) is shameless,” offered Frank Barbaro, chairman of the OC Democratic Party.

On October 8, 2006 there was a fundraiser held at Paracel Seafood Restaurant in Westminster for Tan Nguyen/Republican for Congress. It looks like the invitation is in English and Vietnamese.

Mr. Donald Tran, iLoan Magic Inc.
Mr. Ho van Sinh, Vien Lien, Inc.
Ms. Kim Le & Mr. Dung Phan, Select Graphic and Printing
John Michael Vu, Realty Provider
Mr. Tran D., A Chau Supermarket
Assembly Van Tran Came out and denounced Tan Nguyen’s racist letter.
When will Janet Nguyen let us know whether she agrees or is against the letter?
She represents these Latinos that have received the letter so ther absolutely no excuse for her to let us know how she really feels.
Tan is the boogy-man? is he really Bob Dornan in desquise?
Good point, #1 (9:45 AM). It would help prevent potential ethnic ethnic tensions if Vietnamese leaders spoke out consistently against Tan’s tactics.
In Los Angeles, there are bad feelings between the black and the brown. I really hope the local leaders step up to the plate to avoid bad feelings between the Vietnamese and the Latinos.
