Lupe Moreno gets a standing ovation at POP meeting
Lupe Moreno was not the only GOP candidate to speak at todays Politics over Principle (POP) meeting at the Balboa Bay Club – but she was the only one who merited a standing ovation. Tom Harman and Diane Harkey also spoke, but all they got was polite applause. Moreno also got an endorsement from former state legislator Gil Ferguson, who runs POP, and she collected over $1,700 in campaign contributions, with more to come. Moreno’s ostensibly Republican opponent for the 34th State Senate District, liberal carpetbagger Lynn Daucher, was a no-show.
Moreno also announced a number of other endorsements, from:
- Jim Gilchrist, Minuteman Founder
- Rose Mary “Rosie” Avila, Santa Ana School Board
- Barbara Coe, California Coalition for Immigration Reform
- Rabbi, Nachum Shifren, The Surfing Rabbi and Author of “Kill Your Teacher”
- Mona Holder, Laguna Hills
- Robert Nunez, Stanton
- Lawrence Culbertson, San Juan Capistran
- Robin Hvidston, Minutewoman-Upland
- Micheal Snavely, Chino Hills
- Francisco Jorge, Mojave, CA
- Cindy Asar
- Alphie & Donald Schenck, Minutemen-Corona

Did you personally attend the event or are you merely reporting second hand?
Lemon Drop,
I could not be there as I teach on Saturdays – however I received eye witness accounts from credible sources. Face the facts – Daucher was a no-show and Moreno was embraced by the POP audience. I think we will find similiar results in the 34th.
Your account of the event reads as if you were present. It would have been appropriate for you to disclose that you did not attend the event and were merely relaying second hand information. Your decision to spin this event does not bode well for you or the Moreno campaign.
On other OJ threads you have refused to answer straightforward questions regarding Ms. Moreno’s campaign and that’s disturbing since you are one of her campaign managers.
Q. How much money does her campaign
need to win the primary and can she successfully raise that amount of money?
Prada Girl,
Let me get this straight – you are ripping me for not being forthcoming, but you cannot even post under your real name? Give me a break!
The facts re the event are irrefutable – Moreno carried the day. Call Gil Ferguson and ask him if you want to.
As for campaign fundraising, let’s all be honest for a minute. Daucher is rich and is backed by wealthy pro-abortion liberals in the New Majority. Moreno is not going to out-raise or out-spend her.
However, Daucher has NO NAME ID in the district. If anything, she has to spend money to have a chance – Moreno can run a grassroots effort and benefit from free media.
The fact that you and others keep ripping Moreno is self-explanatory. You’re worried, and you should be…
Art, answer the question.
How much money does Ms. Moreno need to win the primary and can she raise it?
Avoiding the answer by whining about anonymous sigs and slinging mud at her opponent are merely avoidance tactics.
If a rich killer threw thousands of dollars at Lupe’s campaign would you turn it away?
Worried? Yep, you should be.
Prada Girl,
I can tell by your moniker that you are entirely fixated on money; however I repeat that the question of how much Moreno can raise is simply not germane to our campaign. We will raise what we can – and I suspect we will do just fine – even if we lose we will force our liberal opponent to waste millions. I love nothing better than to see liberal fools parted with their money.
Prada girl,
I met with Lupe Moreno on Sunday at Polly’s. To answer your question: How much does she need to win and can she raise it.” I asked her “How much to you anticipate raising? Her reply was: “She has a goal of raising $15,000.”

The GOP never complains when I write six-digit checks for their candidates. I do find it amusing
that a fellow Rep is slamming a Republican entreprenuer. No apologies from Prada Girl for being a capitalist. You don’t have the guts to tell a man that he is fixated with money, but those words slip off your acid tongue when it comes to a woman.
You really have a problem with women who are intelligent, articulate, wealthy and don’t suck up your crap. If I didn’t watch the bottom line I would not be as successful as I am. No apologies here.
Get over yourself.
Both you and Lupe live in Fantasyland if you believe a goal of fundraising $15,000 is a sufficient war chest to defeat her opponent in the primary.
Q. What’s Ms. Moreno’s motivation for seeking the 34th State Senate District seat? And why is she discounting her candidacy by setting such a low fundraising goal?
Prada Girl,
You are bragging about writing six figure checks and you want ME to get over myself? Are you kidding? Do you read what you write before you post it? Give me a break!
Moreno got into this race to bring light to her issues – and then Tran dropped out and she became the only conservative – and only real Republican – in the race. Now we have a campaign to run and we will do the best we can. If we can raise a lot, that will be great, but either way we are in this to win.
Remember, we don’t have to win to make our point – we just have to come close and that will be enough to embarrass Daucher and her pimp Ackerman.
Wait, who let Gil out? Does the nuthouse give out weekend passes?
Art –
I gather from this thread that:
1.) you are Lupe Moreno’s campaign manager and are responsible for running her campaign.
2.) winning is not your #1 priority.
3.)your motivation in seeking this political office is to embarass Lynn Daucher and Dick Ackerman.
Those are three fine reasons why Republican voters should squander their vote for Lupe Moreno.
If you’re are indeed Ms. Moreno’s campaign manager I suggest:
1.) start acting like a campaign manager.
2.) stop alienating voters. Unless that’s the function of a campaign manager.
BTW.. you introduced Prada Girl’s fixation with money. You’re last post paints you as a girly man.
Grow up.
Miu Miu,
You resort to calling me a girly man, and then admonish me to “grow up?” I think perhaps you are the one in need of “growing up.” Calling people names is not a substitute for substantive debate.
As for the rest of your statement, I would love for Moreno to win the primary – but let’s be realistic. We are up against the entire OC GOP machine. We will do our best, but honestly a win by our team would be miraculous. I would expect that Ackerman would have to resign as State Senate GOP Leader the very next day. Wouldn’t that be great?
As for alienating voters, I am not overly concerned with a pack of catty anonymous bloggers who have shown nothing but hostility to my candidate. You guys are Daucher supporters, and nothing I say will change that.
Moreno represents the real Republican voters in the 34th. My guess is that is why you gals are so upset. You know she is going to do just fine in this campaign. It must drive you all nuts that she is going to compel you and your fellow liberals to waste so much of your money on Daucher. Please – waste what you will. Fools and their money are soon parted, as they say…
Art is attacking someone for having too much money. Who knew? Art is a Marxist. Welcome to the left side of the aisle Art. It is time to overthrow the bougoisois types of Prada Girl. It is time for the Proletariat to rule!
Lenin,
Let me get this straight – you and Prada Girl and your entire well-heeled catty horde are backing Lynn Daucher – a candidate who favors higher taxes; who supports abusive eminent domain (that deprives us of our property rights); who was on the school board in Brea during financial debacle and cost over-runs of Brea High School construction; who was on the School Board in Brea during the largest grade scandal in the history of Orange County (she got caught knowing student grades were changed by the school principal and did nothing); who was on the School Board when she manipulated grades so her son would graduate with honors (OC Register covered the story in full); who is a poster child for the CTA and Planned Parenthood?
And you are saying that I am a Marxist for supporting Lupe Moreno – the only real Republican running for the 34th Senate District? Sir, are you on drugs? Your assessment is lacking in basic common sense.
Of course I think it is great for everyone to earn a great income – I’ll tell you what I don’t like – immoral elitists who are meddling in my senate district by trying to force a liberal, pro-abortion carpetbagger down our throats. We don’t want Daucher in the 34th! If anything she and her supporters are Marxists – not us.
Art –
Welcome to the left side of the aisle.
Catnip,
Have you ever read “1994?” Or “Brave New World?” One of the main points of 1994 was that government would use “double-speak” to rule the masses. They actually had a government agency in charge of language – and their job was to manipulate words to their advantage.
When Daucher supporters call me a leftist, what they are really doing is engaging in double-speak; they are manipulating words and changing their meaning to fit their agenda. I am no more a leftist than Reagan was, but reality is of no import to liberals.
By the way, in “Brave New World,” “all members of society are trained to be good consumers to keep the economy strong…and sexual promiscuity is the social norm.” And of course recreational drugs are encouraged, and “production of embryos is, perversely, planned according to the economic capacity of society.” It sure sounds like a world that Daucher fans would be happy in!
Art, you just rant, rave and ramble on and don’t really ever say anything of importance.
Wouldn’t your time be better served trying to get your candidate elected rather than alienating people?
Do you get a stipend or kickback for every useless thing you print?
elfaba –
Sadly Art believes his recreational ramblings are relevant.
Art,
What is a ” real Republican?” When I registered several years back I don’t recall being asked if I wanted to join the real or non-real Republican Party.
Is this some special party that requires DNA testing? Do they hold their own “real Republican” Convention and is there a “real Republican” pledge that includes a special handshake and code word?
Diamond Diva,
Republicans ought to stand for lower taxes, free markets, property rights, the right to work, and the rights of the unborn, amongst other things. Daucher is against almost all of those beliefs, ergo I think of her as a Republican in Name Only, or RINO.
I get it now,”Real Republicans According to the All Powerful All Knowing Art Pedroza Party”
Diamond Diva, did you see that listing when registering?
Art’s the new messiah of his party, I might be interesting in joining his party if they have a secret handshake and serve good food at his meetings! NOT!
Art knows he is the laughing stock of the Republican party, so Art needs to build himself up by beating up people on this site, and try to show his intelligence by being verbose.
The Cult of Art
Credo: Art
Elfaba,
You guys asked me what I think being a Republican is all about and I answered accordingly. Now why dont’ you tell me what you think the GOP stands for?
As I have pointed out, Lynn Daucher voted against repealing the car tax; she is in favor of wasteful bonds; she is against property rights, as a major proponent of eminent domain; and she is a poster child for the CTA and Planned Parenthood.
Really, Daucher is a Democrat in Republican clothing. So tell me – why should Republicans vote for her? She is not running this time in an open primary – she needs to get real Republicans to vote for her. Why should they do so?
Dear Art the Messiah,
Please tell me how I can support you. How can I be a member of your flock? I want to bask in your light. Your way is the one true way, I vow to foresake all others and worship you – oh mighty one!
Oh Art, I know I am not worthy, but let me have your children, we can start a master race. I can no longer worship you from afar, I must publically proclaim my love for you.
Here is what the GOP says about the GOP. Not edited, amended or intrepreted by Art Pedroza.
Why Be A Republican
I believe the strength of our nation lies with the individual and that each person’s dignity, freedom, ability and responsibility must be honored.
I believe in equal rights, equal justice and equal opportunity for all, regardless of race, creed, sex, age or disability.
I believe free enterprise and encouraging individual initiative have brought this nation opportunity, economic growth and prosperity.
I believe government must practice fiscal responsibility and allow individuals to keep more of the money they earn.
I believe the proper role of government is to provide for the people only those critical functions that cannot be performed by individuals or private organizations and that the best government is that which which governs least.
I believe the most effective, responsible and responsive government is government closest to the people.
I believe Americans must retain the principles that have made us strong while developing new and innovative ideas to meet the challenges of changing times.
I believe Americans value and should preserve our national strength and pride while working to extend peace, freedom and human rights throughout the world.
Finally, I believe the Republican Party is the best vehicle for translating these ideals into positive and successful principles of government.
Here are the guiding principles and/or the mission statements of two highly respected Republican organizations.
Again, not edited, amended or otherwise intrepreted by Art Pedroza.
The Lincoln Club on the Lincoln Club
Founded in 1962, the Lincoln Club of Orange County has become one of the most influential and well-respected organizations in the county. Since its inception, the Club has promoted responsible government, advanced the discussion of important issues, and encouraged ethical candidates to run for office.
The Club draws inspiration from the idea that we, as a community and a country, are better served by lower taxes and a smaller, more responsible government. These principles are embodied in the words of Abraham Lincoln who said, “In all that the people can individually do for themselves, the government ought not do for them.” Today that vision serves as the foundation of the Club’s activities.
The New Majority’s Mission Statement
The New Majority will broaden the appeal of the Republican Party by promoting a fiscally responsible philosophy toward government and lending resources to Republicans who support an inclusive, mainstream approach toward politics.
So Artster, where do you fit?
Elfaba,
The GOP, the Lincoln Club and the New Majority all prescribe that we try to lower taxes or be fiscally prudent – Lynn Daucher voted against the repeal of the car tax and she supports wasteful bond measures – as such she does not fit in to the descriptions you posted. Which is my point – she is a Republican in Name Only a RINO.
Not Tim Whitacre,
I am very proud of Claudio’s contributions to this blog site. He has been noted of late by the Total Buzz Blog and the OC Blog and for good reason.
Now if Claudio were running for office as a Republican – I would be the first to rip him – because his values do not fit the GOP. But he makes a fine Democrat. He is true to himself – what more can anyone ask?
Artster, you never answer a question, I heard from several of my Republican friends last night that you’re not welcome in the OC Republican Party, the Lincoln Club or the New Majority because you are so darn divisive (their word).
So Artster, where do you fit. For once, answer a simple question, with a simple answer.
Diamond Diva had it correct, where is the box saying “Real Republican?”
Elfaba,
What makes you think I want to belong the Lincoln Club or NM? As for the GOP – they cannot decide who “belongs” to it – but I do expect to win election to the Central Committee. And I do plan to be a thorn in the side of those who abandon what the party stands for. If that makes me divisive, oh well…
Art –
Are you saying, in your convoluted way, that if Claudio were to register as a Republican, and run as a Republican candidate, he would not be a “real Republican?”
Are you the “true” leader of the “real” Republicans?
To be a real Republican one must pass the Grand Wizard Art Pedroza litmus test.
It’s currently a really small cult er I mean club of brainless individuals whose brain are removed and replaced with Art’s pearls of wisdom.
I heard that if a cult member strays and trys to opt out, that the Grand Wizard Art Pedroza has them tortured and they are then banished from ever being in his holiness’s presence.
That would be too much for the cult member, not worshiping their Grand Wizard’s feet-so most don’t stray.
Elfaba,
Am I to assume that you and your liberal friends won’t be defending Daucher’s views but will instead continue to direct pointless attacks my way? I’m afraid that you all appear collectively feeble for when you refuse to debate the issues.
As Shakespeare wrote, “methinks you doth protest too much.” Clearly you are afraid of Moreno and her chances against the RINO Daucher. You should be.
Artster, I fear no one and least of all you or Lupe Moreno.
Elfaba –
We know Art is the one true “Real Republican” but could he also be Emperor’s George’s Mini Me?
Quoting Shakespeare to instill fear and terror in voters is an insult to English literature aficiandos. It’s apparent Art has Rove’s game book on how not to answer any questions, insult, malign, trick, and deceive the voters.
I call on Art to post the names of all “real Republicans” on the OJ.
Diamond Diva, as with any cults, if he divulges the names he would have to systematically hunt each of us down and kill us as we then would have way too much information.
I think Emperor George the sequel!
All hail to Emperor Art, leader of all the “Real Republicans”
Since Art is being crafty about answering our questions, I’ve decided to create a designer t-shirt. The front side will read:
Real Republican.
Wake Me in 2008
-or-
Don’t Blame
Me. I’m A
Real Republican.
-or-
Art Pedroza’s
Frosted Sugar Balls.
Breakfast of
Real Republicans.
These t-shirts have the possbility of cross-appeal and could sell very well on college campuses and chic boutiques.
After all, I am a female fixtated on money. Ah, the American capitalist. Hmm. I’m getting another idea for a t-shirt, but it’s off to JWA.
Art, I hope you have a swell day and fundraise your daily goal of $10.00 for Lupe’s campaign. Gooooo Real Republican.
Elfaba and Diamond Diva thanks for the lively and thought-provoking debate. Are you gals Real Republicans?
Prada girl,
Am I a “Real Republican?”
Hmmm…not under Emperor Pedroza’s classification. Let’s see (1) my brain functions; (2) my critical thinking is in tact; and (3) my ability to discern works.
Possessing any one of the above disqualifies me as a “Real Republican” under Emperor Pedroza’s strict quidelines.
I am a proud Republican who is fiscally conservative and socially responsible.
Put me down for a T-Shirt, it would be an honor to contribute to your capitalistic ventures.
Just how hard do you think it is to raise $10 a day? Let’s see, you could approach 20 people and ask for fifty cents; 10 people and ask for one dollar; or 5 people and has for two dollars; or holy smokes, 1 person for it all!
Travel safe Prada girl!
Fundraising Idea:
I have it, Artster, get a cardboard (no cost-go behind a store and take it) and on it say: “Will work for campaign donations for Lupe Moreno.” There is a lot of activity on the corner of Main and 17th across from Norm’s Restaurant, but you will need to bump off the regular who stands there.
I bet you could easily double your daily quota of $10 to $20. Maybe even more.
Just a thought!
Another great fundraising idea.
Art, start collecting cans and newspapers across the senatorial district.
If you give me your address, I’ll begin dropping of my recycleables to your home to help promote your cause.
