Latino activist gets arrested; no one is surprised
Well, we saw this one coming. Immigration-rights activist Coyotl Tezcalipoca acted up at yesterday’s Costa Mesa City Council meeting and he was promptly arrested. And, as I had surmised, the guy isn’t really named Coyotl. His real name is Benito Acosta, but I don’t blame him for adopting his nomme de guerre. It fits his agenda perfectly.
The O.C. Register reported that “The City Council voted 3-2 on Dec. 7 to seek a formal relationship with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, which would train about 40 Costa Mesa detectives, jailers and officers to enforce immigration laws on people suspected of unrelated felonies.”
You have to wonder if Costa Mesa police officials will run Acosta through the U.S. immigration database. It would be high comedy if he were to be deported. You can read the O.C. Register article at http://www.ocregister.com/ocregister/news/homepage/article_929384.php.
Benito Acosta probably is an illegal alien himself, otherwise why would he be so stupid to give a false name to the press and the police and the city council? Whatever racist, latino organization that sent him didn’t do their homework about protocol in public governmental meetings. Que estupido y ridiculo!
First, some facts need to be straightened out here. I will be posting an account from the meeting by an observer who was not with either side last night. They have a true account of what went on, and lets just say Alan Mansoor needs to learn a thing or two about being a fair and impartial presider over the meeting. He just enhances the culture of corruption that is the Orange County Republican Party.
Next, if the Minutemen are so noble and inclusive, everyone needs to ask themselves this question. Why are they followed around by Stormfront, Aryan Nation and other White Supremicist groups? Why do these same groups view Gilchrist as a hero? Why do these same groups bring their swastika flags and neo-nazi symbols to anti-immigrant rallys? Is there something about the Minutemen movement that draws White Supremicists to their side?
Next, if the anti-immigrant movement is just focused on securing the border and not about Mexicans these questions should be answered. Why did Barbara Coe, Lupe Moreno and other CCIR hacks go to the Newport Beach City Council meeting to defend Dick Nichols over comments he made about MEXICANS, not IMMIGRANTS if it is not about Mexicans? Why do they try to make a boogie man out of Latino college groups, whose membership is majority US CITIZENS? And when they talk about the immigration problem, they constantly make characatures of illegal immigrants out to look like negative stereotypes of Mexicans? If it is an immigration thing and not a Mexican thing, why is this going on?
Knowing how conservatives are I will be attacked by anonymous bloggers instead of having my questions answered. I do hope someone steps forward to justify all my questions.
I think we can all agree that both Coyotl’s groups, which have terrorist-sounding names, and the neo-nazi groups are reprehensible. In other words, extremists are extremists, whether they come from the left or right. Also, please remember Claudio that the Nazis were socialists. That means they were left-wing, not right-wing.
Lastly, I cannot blame Mansoor for having Coyotl arrested. The fool acted like a goon, was asked to stop, and finally got what he had coming. I have no problem with that. People like Coyotl do no good for Latinos.
Let’s see – the Nazis detested and fought the communists while embracing facists – so Art thinks they are left wingers – sounds like Art’s viewpoint has gone from consevative to off the chart.
Niether do scapegoaters like Lupe Moreno, who chooses to scapegoat immigrants for her lack of moral restraint as a teenager. People like that do no good for Latinos.
As for the Nazis, yes they had socialist in their name, but the first person Hitler targeted were Liberals and Communists. Get history facts straight. Oh I keep forgetting, Republicans are allergic to facts.
Art is right in a way, you can describe a group or person that believes in total governmental control as either extreme right or left. I heard once that if you go far enough let or right you meet on the other side of the circle.
There is a lack of any willingness of both sides of this issue to work to find real and comprehensive solutions.
