An anonymous student at Fresno State University outed student body President Pedro Ramirez – revealing that Mr. Ramirez is an illegal immigrant the day after the state supreme court ruled that illegal immigrants could claim in-state tuition, according to the Christian Science Monitor.
That’s right. Ramirez is a Dream Teamer. He is one of thousands of young people who came here as a child, in his case at the age of three, grew up here, graduated from our schools and is now in college.
Ramirez can legally serve as President of Fresno State. But he had to give up the $9,000 stipend. And of course the Republicans are losing their minds over this, including a student named Cole Rojewski, who also ran for Student Body President but lost to Ramirez.
Ramirez told the L.A. Times that “In a way, I’m relieved. I don’t want to be a liability or cost the school donations. I never really thought this was going to happen. But now that it’s out there, I finally feel ready to say ‘Yes, it’s me. I’m one of the thousands.’ ”
Ramirez is a political science major from Tulare, CA.
Kudos to Ramirez. This should serve as further impetus for the U.S. Congress to pass the Dream Act, giving great young people like Ramirez a pathway to U.S. citizenship.
As long as they close the doors for all the future kids who parents who broke the law then I would support the DREAM Act.

There can be no debate that the cost of educating illegal alien children costs California BILLIONS.
However, it can also be argued that this money could be better spent. Instead of insisting that every child can go to college, why not offer every child a REAL opportunity to suceed in life. THIS INCLUDES NATIVE BORN KIDS (or as they like to say here: white kids).
Just as his Father created the Comunity College system, Governor elect Brown should look at revamping it so that we give every kid, citizen or not a fighting chance.
It was recently reported that only 1 in 4 whoe enter the California Community College System complete even a certificate. The FACT is the number is one in six! that means we are subsidizing kids who WILL NEVER COMPLETE JUNIOR COLLEGE!! White, Black, Brown, Yellow and even those pesky Green ones from other planets.
THIS IS NOT ABOUT RACE.
This is about coming the reality that some kids, can be perfectly sucessful without a four year degree. It means, that the dude who you just paid $2,000. to replace the server at your dental practice, got his monies worth at a trade school.
Put another way, It is more than likely that the person who adjusted the GE MONOSCAN deviceat St. Joseph that performed the MRI on your Son’s skull, went to ITT Tech.

There is NO “however!” We should not be paying billions to educate another nations population when we are struggling to educate are own! Plus the fact that unions have realized that the poor from Mexico means federal dollars down the pipe line; has lead to mass corruption within the government systems!
