Clicking on This Video May Break Your Computer

There’s a video out now of a campaign event where Barack Obama defines the term “Romnesia.”  Here’s the link.  Don’t click it yet.  (Note: this is as of 2:10 p.m. Friday.  If you’re reading this later than that, use your own judgment.)

I tried watching the video and immediately my computer time-traveled back half a decade or more.  Every 10 seconds, I was getting maybe 1/8 of a second of footage.  I remember from the old days what must be happening.  Something like ten billion people — yes, I realize that that’s more than exist — must be trying to watch the thing at once.  Then my computer made a sound that was not a signal that it was breaking, exactly, but sort of a Robert Mitchum in Night of the Hunter sound — I’ll let someone else find and post a link to that clip (you know which one I mean.)

It sounded sort of like the sound that I expect that Josh Romney was making inside his head when this photo was taken of him.

Josh Romney -- caption "Compared to Josh Romnet watching his father debate McKayla McKenzie was EXTREMELY impressed!

I had to shut everything down.  When I started it up, a special blue screen that I’ve never seen before came up and I had to promise to it that I’d never do that again.

So, I’m going to wait a while before the next time I try to click that video.  It’s here for you, though.  And if you want a transcript because you just can’t wait, it’s over here.

P.S.  You probably think I’m kidding.  Would you risk the life of your computer or phone on it?

About Greg Diamond

Somewhat verbose attorney, semi-disabled and semi-retired, residing in northwest Brea. Occasionally ran for office against jerks who otherwise would have gonr unopposed. Got 45% of the vote against Bob Huff for State Senate in 2012; Josh Newman then won the seat in 2016. In 2014 became the first attorney to challenge OCDA Tony Rackauckas since 2002; Todd Spitzer then won that seat in 2018. Every time he's run against some rotten incumbent, the *next* person to challenge them wins! He's OK with that. Corrupt party hacks hate him. He's OK with that too. He does advise some local campaigns informally and (so far) without compensation. (If that last bit changes, he will declare the interest.) His daughter is a professional campaign treasurer. He doesn't usually know whom she and her firm represent. Whether they do so never influences his endorsements or coverage. (He does have his own strong opinions.) But when he does check campaign finance forms, he is often happily surprised to learn that good candidates he respects often DO hire her firm. (Maybe bad ones are scared off by his relationship with her, but they needn't be.)
