Why is Jose Solorio having a fundraiser?

I read over at Liberal OC today that Assemblyman Jose Solorio (D-Anaheim), who represents the 69th Assembly District, is having a fundraiser tomorrow, over at Original Mike’s, the bar and restaurant owned by Mike Harrah – the contractor who foisted “One Broadway Plaza” on the residents of Santa Ana. I wonder why Solorio needs the money?

The fact is, Solorio is running against some unknown Republican named Cam Mangels. I am told that this guy is the webmaster for the City of Garden Grove. Apparently he just moved into the district a few months ago. He is utterly unknown. Even worse, he appears to be allied with Tim Whitacre, the turncoat member of the OC GOP Central Committee who always does the bidding of Santa Ana Mayor Miguel Pulido, who is of course a Democrat. If Mangels is indeed allied with Whitacre, then he may well be in league with the “Trannies” – the corrupt minions of GOP Assemblyman Van Tran.

I doubt Mangels will raise $20 buck in his campaign. So, again, why is Solorio having a fundraiser? He doesn’t need the money. Yet he is asking folks to consider being “platinum sponsors” for the princely fee of $3,600. If you are not rich, you can go kiss Solorio’s ring for just $50, which is about what the typical resident of Santa Ana makes in about four to five hours.

Solorio is also one of the saps supporting Measure G – the poorly timed bond measure that is being advanced by the corrupt and inept SAUSD school board.

I am trying to think of something Solorio has achieved in his time in Sacramento. I know he has been involved in some legislation, and he serves on several committees, but he is not considered a leader in Sacramento. He is known there more for his mustache and his “Oompa Loompah” build. And his freakishly stacked hair.

So why exactly does Solorio merit our money? He has no serious challenger. He has not done much in Sacramento. I am at a loss in this instance as to why anyone should give him $50.

If anything the local Democrats ought to say “no gracias” to Solorio and send their checks to Debbie Cook, the Mayor of Huntington Beach. At least she can use the money in her contest against GOP Congressnut Dana Rohrabacher. Solorio certainly doesn’t need the dinero.

If you are actually inclined to go throw money at Solorio, here is the info regarding his soir
