Maddox to run for a CUSD school board seat

How the mighty have fallen. Red County has announced that union hack Ken Maddox, a former State Assemblyman who lost his last race, for a State Senate seat, to John Campbell, is now running for the Capistrano Unified School District (CUSD). Maddox currently serves as Director of Legislative Affairs to Board of Equalization Member Michelle Steel.

Maddox is infamous for writing a letter in support of the ill-fated Orange County PLA (project labor agreement) back when he was an Assemblyman. There is absolutely no excuse for a Republican to do such a thing. PLA’s prevent non-union contractors from bidding on public works unless they send their workers to the union hall. That takes the matter of choice out of the workers’ hands. PLAs also drive up the bid costs, which hurts the taxpayers. And because they limit the pool of bidders, PLAs can result in delays. Unions will tell you that if there is a PLA they won’t strike. So? If they don’t win the contract, then it is a moot point. They cannot strike if they don’t win the bid.

What PLAs are is a means of making bidding unfair to non-union contractors. They are an artificial means for unions to get work they don’t deserve. And Ken Maddox thought the OC PLA was a swell idea.

The government agencies that most often use PLAs are school districts. As such it would be an awful idea for the voters in CUSD to vote for Maddox. He will NOT look after their best fiduciary interests, that I can guarantee you.

What is the point of recalling the current hacks on the CUSD board if the voters in that district are then going to elect an even worse hack? Vote NO on Ken Maddox for the CUSD school board!
