The Santa Ana Unified School District Board of Education scheduled a Special Study Session TODAY, Tuesday, February 5, 2008, at 5:30 p.m.
At this Special Study Session the Board will be discussing the District’s proposed Facility Master Plan, including consideration of a school construction bond measure for either the June or November election.
The meeting will be held in the Board Room, SAUSD District Administration Offices, 1601 East Chestnut Avenue, Santa Ana.
Parents, students, SAUSD employees, taxpayers and concerned residents are encouraged to attend. It is important that your concerns about the proposed Facility Master Plan, including the school construction bond measure be heard.
Are those in charge at SAUSD completely clueless about today’s voting, or could it be that they just don’t give a damn.
Maybe they wanted us all to be looking elsewhere while they slipped a expensive bond measure onto the ballot in June or November.
They also plan to fill the position of Assistant Superintendent Facilities and Governmental Relations while we are off voting.
But the part that should really get you mad is that fact that they fail to mention this meeting anywhere on the SAUSD main webpage or even on the calendar.
SHAME ON THEM!
Call SAUSD Jane Russo at (714) 558-5512 and demand that they postpone this meeting.

With a declining enrollment, I should think they’d be discussing school “deconstruction” e.g. which sites should be sold to raise needed funds.
Ain’t this just like SAUSD to hold a meeting while all those who are usually involved in such matters are off voting to put an end to Claudia Alvarez political career.
If I were the SAUSD I’d move it out a week.
You complain when the council does cancel a meeting and now you complain when the SAUSD doesn’t.
At least you are consistant. You always complain.

What is consistant is that SAUSD tries to sneak things by when they think they can get away with it. What department do you head or are you a Chest-NUT koolaid drinker at the district office?
Anyone else hear what I heard at the meeting?
The District took the Tustin 15 Million settlement
and stuffed it into the general fund never to be seen
again.
Angry Parent
Can you or someone else expound on what else happened at the meeting besides pocketing 15 million from Tustin? It seems the Register never bothered to report the meeting was to occur and thus far has not written anything about what happened there. Thanks

The Tustin money was placed in the General Fund years ago.
SAUSD used parents to get that money with the promise of use for modernization and/or construction of new facilities. Never happened!
The teachers’ union claims the district has millions stashed away.
The district should have rescheduled this meeting. Most government entities honor an election day.
Can someone please expalin the Tustin money? Are we talking City of Tustin or Tustin Unified School District? And, where did that money come from and why was it paid to Santa Ana unified? Thank you in advance.
