For All Saint’s Day, try looking up minority victims of excessive use of force by police and see if anyone noted that they were “no saint”
- If you read only one story today, make the Voice of OC’s “Disney Breaks Its Own Spending Record in This Year’s Anaheim Council Election,“ which came out in the 11:00 a.m. hour. I follow this stuff pretty closely, and it’s STILL stunning when you see it all organized together along with a powerful graphic. Disney has decided — at what will be a huge local, national, and even international cost in good public relations — to simply BUY the Anaheim government for those who serve IT rather than the present and future residents of the city. It’s monstrous: all Disney’s critics want of it is for it to be a good neighbor rather than a ravishing beast.
- And when I says “read only one story today,” I don’t mean for you just to read it to yourself! COME TO THE ANAHEIM CITY COUNCIL MEETING TONIGHT AT 5:00 AND LET’S SEE PEOPLE READ IT FOR THE COUNCIL, SO WE CAN SEE WHO TURNS RED OUT OF EMBARRASSMENT AND SHAME. LET’S READ IT TO THE VIEWING PUBLIC SO THAT THEY CAN SEE THAT THOSE ATTACK MAILERS THEY’RE GETTING ARE JUST DISNEY’S SPENDING A MILLION DOLLARS TO MAKE HUNDREDS OF MILLIONS DOLLARS OFF OF THE BACK OF ANAHEIM RESIDENTS. Show up at 5:00; we’ll give the Council some public comments to remember!
- In other news: well, that can wait — I’ll get this up now and we can update it later!
To those of us who “follow this stuff pretty closely”, it should not be a surprise that Disney is buying another election in Anaheim. We also know who would turn red out of embarrassment and shame, although they never did unless they faced a semi-riot. A call for reading out what Disney is doing is not going to be a game changer a week before the election. What is stunning is presenting too many non-subsidies candidates, diluting our vote, and a lack of differentiation beyond the anti-subsidy issue.
As you stated earlier, regarding my district “I will say this much for Faessel: of the SOAR 4, he is clearly the least objectionable. (That is not an endorsement, at all.) But his clearing the bar set by Lodge, Brandman, and Kring is not difficult.”
Although Mr Faessel seems to be no familiar with the issues of the most popular neighborhoods, ( Anna Drive, Miraloma to name a couple), he responded positively to the concerns presented by the Rio Vista Neighborhood. It seems that he didn’t need the SOAR/Disney support to be considered a serious candidate. He is supported by the “Stand and Deliver” Dr Baeza and some unions. I still think that would be useful for the other campaigns to let us know their reservations about the SOAR candidate in my district, besides the subsidies or how they impact us.
BTW your graphic did not directly relate to the content of your post, so I didn’t read it until a few minutes ago.
I regret that the graphic led to a delay of several hours in your reading the post. It was related not only to yesterday being All Saints Day, but to a news story that was going to be featured in the post until breaking news supplanted it, after which I had to move quickly to the posts about Anaheim’s agenda as well as my own prep for public comments (including printing off copies of yesterday’s great Voice of OC piece to read for the Council video and submit into the record.) Thank you for registering your complaint.

…..”Anaheim’s decision to refund bed taxes in order to get its desired four-star hotels is a classic example, she said.
From the city’s perspective, it can be a no-brainer, officials said. ……”
Perhaps the slogan of an old Cheech and Chong movie is appropriate here –
“No Brain, No Pain. “
“Anaheim views economic development, rather than resident taxes, as the best way to fund city services,” Anaheim spokesman Mike Lyster said in a statement.
Too bad nobody can prove this works.
Just a typo.
He meant Anaheim views economic development, supported by resident taxes, as the best way to fund corporate services.
Innocent mistake.
Yes, after PringleCorp® skims off its win bonus.
And now it really makes sense.
