Chief Parra could find no porn in HB Library…
well then how do you explain this Demon Teacher?
(Just asking questions here.)
This Tuesday is an important Special Election Day in two coastal OC towns – the Newport school board race which we’ve been covering, and Huntington Beach’s Measure A & B, regarding whether or not the town’s beloved 50-year-old central library should be under the control of the (certifiably insane) City Council.
The unanimously MAGA Council, urging a “no” vote, insists ad nauseam but sans proof that the library including its children’s section is full of pornography. Some of them even seem to believe it! It’s become an obsession, an article of faith, a mass hysteria reminiscent of the Salem Witch Trials and many mass hysterias since.
It’s possible by now that even some of the public believes that there is porn in the library, they’ve been told that so much, especially by the delusional Gracey Van Der Mark and Chad Williams, the latter of whom, on his own dime, plastered the town in gigantic “Protect our Kids from PORN, vote No on A&B” signs (prompting many Surf City kids to ask “Mommy, what’s PORN?”)
But this IS HB so Chad’s signs were nothing if not a SHARK TO BE JUMPED, and last week this A.I. wonder appeared above them:
…as well as THIS marvel:
“Our Library PEDOPHILE Matters”??? How do we save these people?
Well, back in April our good friend, school board legend Gina Clayton Tarvin, decided to take these councilmembers at their word. Chad Williams told the Voice of OC that there was “legitimate pornography, far worse than just word porn, that tax dollars are being spent on, provided” to minors by their library. This would have been a crime, and the legal responsibility of the city and the council. Gina’s two sons frequent the library, and as a teacher she is a mandated reporter of child abuse. So she went to three legal authorities to report the City’s serious alleged crime:
- the FBI since the sending of these books from out of state would have been an interstate crime; they do not comment on ongoing investigations;
- DA Todd Spitzer, who put an investigator onto the case, and with whom Gina texted back and forth and still hasn’t found any library porn; and
- Huntington Beach Police Chief Eric Parra, who also told Gina that his department has found nothing inappropriate at the library.
So, dutifully, Ms. Clayton-Tarvin reported back at the last Council meeting, click to hear:
Gina tells me that after this speech Chief Parra gave her a high-five, thanking her for the standing ovation he’d just got. For a brief time a couple years ago, Parra was also interim city manager (shades of Santa Ana’s Paul Walters.) At that time, librarians and library staff were already being harassed and demonized by paranoid fanatics. At that time, Interim City Manager Parra wrote these I-got-your-back words to the library staff:
Huntington Beach Library Staff,
I want to extend my heartfelt thanks for your hard work and commitment to our patrons, particularly during this unprecedented time. The Executive Leadership Team supports each one of you, and I want to emphasize that we do not believe in the vernacular used by some members of the public to describe library staff as “groomers” or “pedophiles.” You are professionals doing your best to support the growth and development of our patrons.
Eric Parra.
Well, it’s not my town any more, and nobody listens to me anyway. But I literally watched them build this library in the 70’s, sitting on my little bike. And I watched it sink into the swamp. And I watched ’em build it again on a stronger foundation. And it was my home away from home as a teenager. And I played dozens of concerts there as a grownup. And my son worked there for years, still does on occasion. And I hope Huntington Beach votes Yes on A & B to SAVE THE LIBRARY!
