47th district Congressional candidate Dave Min, who has never in his years in the state senate voted for any sort of police reform, just keeps racking up the endorsements – this time from California’s largest police union! As his press release this morning proclaims, this gives him “Mo-MIN-tum”! (Remember conservative Democrat Joe Lieberman running for President like 20 years ago, and his vaunted “JOE-mentum?”)
The Orange Juice Blog continues to prefer Joanna Weiss. From Dave’s release this morning:
California’s Largest Police Union Endorses Dave Min for Congress
Mo-MIN-tum Continues To Build As Peace Officers Research Association Of California (PORAC) Is Latest Major Organization To Back Min
IRVINE, CA — Today, Dave Min announced the endorsement of the Peace Officers Research Association of California (PORAC), the state’s largest police union and the largest statewide association of police officers in the country, representing 80,000 public safety professionals and 950 associations across California and Orange County. This is the third major law enforcement group that has endorsed Dave Min for Congress, following recent endorsements by the Los Angeles Police Protective League (LAPPL) and the Association of Los Angeles Deputy Sheriffs (ALADS). Min, who also recently earned the endorsement of the California Democratic Party, is the only candidate for CA-47 with the backing of law enforcement, and he is the unanimous choice for Labor, Teachers, and current CA-47 incumbent Representative Katie Porter.
“I’m honored to be public safety’s candidate in California’s 47th District,” said State Senator Dave Min. “I’m grateful to our first responders for all they do, and I look forward to continuing to work closely with them to ensure that we are doing all we can to keep our families and local businesses safe.”
In addition to his strong record of supporting public safety and first responders, Dave Min has also been a strong advocate for police budget priorities. In recent weeks, the City of Irvine announced major new investments in its police department by the State of California, including $2 million for a Real Time Crime Center and nearly $1 million for new electric police cruisers, thanks to budget requests made by State Senator Min.
PORAC was incorporated in 1953 as a professional federation of local, state and federal law enforcement agencies, and represents over 80,000 public safety members and over 950 associations, making it the largest law enforcement organization in California and the largest statewide association in the nation. Their stated mission is to provide Californians with the safety and security they need to feel protected in their homes and on our streets, and to identify the public safety needs in our communities and provide programs that adequately meet those changing needs.
PORAC’s endorsement adds to the clear momentum of the Dave Min for Congress campaign. In recent weeks, Dave Min’s campaign has announced a slew of massive new endorsements, including from the California Democratic Party, Equality CA, the Southern California Armenian Democrats, NeverAgain CA, and over a dozen major labor organizations. These add to early endorsements from the Service Employees International Union (SEIU) and the California Federation of Teachers, as well as from over 150 local, state, and federal officials. A full endorsement list is available here.
Where is the blow back from MADD?
Did anyone tell the police about Min’s DUI?
No importa. As long as he votes their way, light on the reform and heavy on the funding.
Are you saying Joanna Weiss is for defunding the police?
No. Are you saying the Pope has scabies?
I wouldn’t know. I just know Joanna Weiss is losing and you don’t want to see the writing on he wall.
We’ll see. If Dave beats her in March, I won’t say anything bad about him. I mostly want us Dems to take back the House.
Joann spends more than $50ka year to send her kids to private school Loser
And?
Loser.
Dis it all you want but it has the NRCC and the CAGOP apoplectic and launching new attacks on Min. You know who they are not attacking? Their preferred opponent Joanna Weiss.
Why? Because a pro-choice AAPI candidate has the backing of both teachers AND law enforcement and has a legislative record which neither of his opponents have: Weiss who has never held office before and Baugh who hasn’t held office in over a decade.
Min is the perfect storm for keeping this seat blue. I have a feeling you are realizing this too.
I’m giving you a choice. Would you prefer to sign is as Susan Tate? Otherwise, it can be Insane Susan.
LOL. Whatever you want.
Never in my life I have ever come across a greater confluence of sad sacks.
…touting a “poll” that shows Joanna beating Baugh by 14 pts?
To quote Logan Roy, “you are not serious people”.
“Confluence of sad sacks,” that’s kind of funny. Although I don’t feel like a sad sack.
Apart from that, ma’am, your comments are getting tedious. You’ve made your points about Joanna. I’ll read your future comments, but only publish them if they are informative or interesting.
Or funny.
Okay. Ask the Weiss campaign (or WAVE) if the FEC is investigating them for violations of FEC rules regarding the coordination of campaigns and the PACs supporting them.
FYI, WAVE is a PAC.
Informative? Interesting? That’s up to you.
Ask your domestic partner, if you have one, if they are cheating on you.
Interesting? Informative? Yours to decide!
Strong words from a JOMorgan Banker!
I have magically changed your comment authorship to “Susan Tate.” Using that name will increase the likelihood of your comments remaining posted.
As between the two in blue, he knows how the sausage is made and won’t be lost in the halls.
You’re pro-Min now, Eric? That’s a plot twist I didn’t foresee.
At least it’s better than “objectively pro-Baugh” and “objectively pro-Speaker Johnson.”
From Joanna this morning:
California Young Democrats Endorse Joanna Weiss for California’s 47th Congressional District
ORANGE COUNTY, CA – California Young Democrats (CYD) have officially endorsed Joanna Weiss to represent California’s 47th Congressional district.
“California Young Democrats are proud to enthusiastically endorse Joanna Weiss in her campaign for California’s 47th district,” said Giovanni Chavez, President of California Young Democrats. “Winning this seat is absolutely crucial to taking back the House and passing long overdue legislation regarding climate change, gun safety, and reproductive rights. Joanna Weiss is the candidate who can keep this seat blue and pave the way for Democrats to address the significant issues facing young people in California and across the country.”
“I am so honored to be endorsed by the California Young Democrats,” said Joanna Weiss. “I was a student organizer in high school and college, and since then I have long admired the work young Democrats do across our state. I know that Millennial and Gen Z voters will help decide our race and so many others across the country. I am grateful to have CYD’s support, and I am excited to work with them in this campaign and in Congress.”
California Young Democrats is the latest major endorsement for Joanna Weiss, following Representative Annie Kuster last week. Weiss is also endorsed by State Controller Malia Cohen, Lieutenant Governor Eleni Kounalakis, Rep. Eric Swalwell, Rep. Sydney Kamlager-Dove, and Rep. Julia Brownley, Rep. Linda Sánchez, former Congressman Harley Rouda, Rep. Lois Frankel, Assemblywoman Cottie Petrie-Norris, Orange County Supervisor Katrina Foley, Anaheim Mayor Asheligh Aitken, dozens of other women and local leaders, Moms Fed Up, EMILYs List, Elect Democratic Women PAC, Women’s Political Committee, OC Young Democrats, and labor, who have announced their enthusiastic endorsement of Weiss.
This is old news. It was announced immediately after the OCYD straw poll was conducted on Oct 18th and had no impact on Dave’s CADem Party endorsement.
Not sure why Joanna waited so long to post. Perhaps she is just reposting. Kind of hypocritical since she and her campaign staff have been very vocal about their low opinions of straw polls.
What the hell are you so afraid of that you can’t use your own name?
I’m guessing that it’s that your real name shows up on a list of Min’s paid staff or contractors, amirite?
I think she calls herself Susan Tate on the MinBlog, I mean the ironically-named “Liberal OC.” She seems to be a self-appointed anti-Weiss attack dog. She should feel free to use her real name here if she stands by her words.
That’s me but I prefer “citizen advocate” in that I live in CA47 and want a qualified representative WHO LIVES IN MY DISTRICT to represent me.
Speaking of, where do you and Greg live?
You are not. I’m a retired former JOMorgan banker and REIT executive using her free time and resources to elect QUALIFIED Democratic candidates.
Thanks for asking.
OK, I’ll rephrase, JO Morgan banker:
Why are you so afraid to use your real name to make accusations about people?
If you want to wear the Klan outfit for your secrecy, you can do it on the Chumley Blog. You don’t seem to do well when not facing accountability for your views.
I don’t think I said that. You need to re-read the statement. DUI Dave is a douchebag.
Huh? I’ve already been outed by you and your partner in crime. I couldn’t care less.
What “accusations” are you talking about?
Vern himself posted how pleased he was that Joanna and her supporters had thrown ice water on the CADem straw poll endorsement process. Then, touts an OCYD endorsement based on a straw poll as well.
Please show me where (unlike you) I have been disrespectful to either of you. I’m just pointing out where you might be missing the mark.
And Vern, I’m happy to hear you will support Dave when he wins the primary in March. He hasn’t launched any attacks against Joanna, which can’t be said about her ….. or you.
And will you support Joanna if she wins the primary in March? Or are you unable to imagine that which you do not prefer?
I’ll vote for her, of course. But it would be a lost cause to donate to her campaign.
How deeply do you believe she can can win? How much money have you put to your mouth?
“Partner in editing,” “partner in crime.” Your not knowing the difference makes sense now that you announced that you were a REIT executive.
Trying to follow your logic. REIT executive bad. Funding a campaign with your husband’s union busting law firm partners’ donations good.
Why hasn’t Douchebag DUI Dave joined the Cal Bar yet? Problems with the MPRE? Has that Deuce put an obstacle in being admitted? Rusty Hicks sure got sworn in lickety split and then jumped in the race for CA 2nd Assembly District.

So: you don’t like Min. You don’t like Weiss. Who do you like in this race?
Some people are “a pox on both” and end up with the worst.
Triple D Min sent a legislative update to my residence for the first time as an elected official. It was addressed to my wife and son. What a coward. He won’t name me as a racist despite trying to take a swipe at me anonymously, he won’t return my calls, and he won’t send mailers to my address addressed to me.
He is a sad sap! I’ll be voting for Baugh!
The DPOC needs a shake up and a wake up call!!!
Business as usual and going along with the program is turning the party into the other side.
Our local leaders have turned into a clown car of freaks and geeks. It’s appalling!
You never answered my question about whom you do support, given your antipathy to both Min and Weiss. So here’s your chance!
Ms. Tate. You don’t want to respond to me on chubby’s site. What about here?
