State’s Largest Police Union Backs Dave Min, Giving him “Mo-MIN-tum!”

47th district Congressional candidate Dave Min, who has never in his years in the state senate voted for any sort of police reform, just keeps racking up the endorsements – this time from California’s largest police union! As his press release this morning proclaims, this gives him “Mo-MIN-tum”! (Remember conservative Democrat Joe Lieberman running for President like 20 years ago, and his vaunted “JOE-mentum?”)

California’s Largest Police Union Endorses Dave Min for Congress

Mo-MIN-tum Continues To Build As Peace Officers Research Association Of California (PORAC) Is Latest Major Organization To Back Min

IRVINE, CA — Today, Dave Min announced the endorsement of the Peace Officers Research Association of California (PORAC), the state’s largest police union and the largest statewide association of police officers in the country, representing 80,000 public safety professionals and 950 associations across California and Orange County. This is the third major law enforcement group that has endorsed Dave Min for Congress, following recent endorsements by the Los Angeles Police Protective League (LAPPL) and the Association of Los Angeles Deputy Sheriffs (ALADS). Min, who also recently earned the endorsement of the California Democratic Party, is the only candidate for CA-47 with the backing of law enforcement, and he is the unanimous choice for Labor, Teachers, and current CA-47 incumbent Representative Katie Porter.

“I’m honored to be public safety’s candidate in California’s 47th District,” said State Senator Dave Min. “I’m grateful to our first responders for all they do, and I look forward to continuing to work closely with them to ensure that we are doing all we can to keep our families and local businesses safe.”

In addition to his strong record of supporting public safety and first responders, Dave Min has also been a strong advocate for police budget priorities. In recent weeks, the City of Irvine announced major new investments in its police department by the State of California, including $2 million for a Real Time Crime Center and nearly $1 million for new electric police cruisers, thanks to budget requests made by State Senator Min.

PORAC was incorporated in 1953 as a professional federation of local, state and federal law enforcement agencies, and represents over 80,000 public safety members and over 950 associations, making it the largest law enforcement organization in California and the largest statewide association in the nation. Their stated mission is to provide Californians with the safety and security they need to feel protected in their homes and on our streets, and to identify the public safety needs in our communities and provide programs that adequately meet those changing needs.

PORAC’s endorsement adds to the clear momentum of the Dave Min for Congress campaign. In recent weeks, Dave Min’s campaign has announced a slew of massive new endorsements, including from the California Democratic Party, Equality CA, the Southern California Armenian Democrats, NeverAgain CA, and over a dozen major labor organizations. These add to early endorsements from the Service Employees International Union (SEIU) and the California Federation of Teachers, as well as from over 150 local, state, and federal officials.
