“January 6th, 2021: A day that will live in Fun (?) and Infamy!”

According to many Republicans, the tour buses came rolling in to Freedom Plaza for the MAGA event in the morning with then President Donald J. Trump on January 6th, to celebrate and then visit the Capitol building for a tour while Congress was in session. The President suggested that his tour group go down to the Capitol Building and “Fight like Hell!” The name of the event was called: “The Save America March”!

Freedom Plaza has a capacity of about 14,000 people, according to reports; After the remarks of President Trump about a 1000 folks headed on down to the Capitol building to protest the counting of the votes of the Electoral College – which would make Joe Biden the new President Elect.

Things seemed to get a little out of hand right away and between the yelling, screaming to kill people, the breaking down of the many barricades, the beating of Capitol Police – which included the use of Bear Spray, attacking police with flags, stealing the police plastic shields and beating every police officer they could find….with over 138 being injured……the doors and windows of the Capital were broken and the so-called touring protesters entered the hallowed chambers of Congress chasing even the Vice President of the United States to a secure area along with many members of Congress.

Other members of Congress huddle in the Chamber while Secret Service Agents guarded the doors until they were all evacuated and one Agent had shot and killed one assertive female breaking the window to the chamber. One Capitol Policeman was being crushed between the doors and so many Capital Police were being beaten and chased down the Halls of Congress that eventually the Chamber and many Congressional and Senatorial Offices were breached by the tourists visiting. Stealing lap tops, Confidential and perhaps some Secret papers, tearing up the offices and the Chamber shouting they wanted to kill, Pence, Pelosi and others while beating every Police member they could find. Feces was smeared on various members of Congress offices and even in the Congressional Chamber.

Today in retrospect, about 719 of the 1000 or more that breached the Capitol are being charged with crimes. Over 400 are still being held in custody. Some have already been charged and sentenced. One Real Estate Lady from California who flew in on her Private Jet is getting 60 days in Federal Prison, but has been released and has gone on television to say how much she looks forward to spending some time in the Federal Detention Center, so she can work out and lose about 30 pounds…..like going to a health club. Many Republican members of Congress say that the Government is holding these protesters in inhumane conditions.

The list of charges against these folks could choke a horse. Two of the protesters have received 41 months each, but have both been given credit for time served about 8 months each.

Here is perhaps just a partial list to give you some feel for what these 700 plus protesters might be facing:
(1) Breaking and Entering
(2) Malicious Criminal Mischief
(3) Criminal Trespass
(4) Criminal Destruction of Government Property
(5) Assault and Battery
(6) Assault with a Deadly Weapon
(7) Reckless Endangerment
(8) Resisting Arrest
(9) Theft of Government Property
(10) Property Damage to Official Government Information
(11) Use of a dangerous weapon or implement in the Commission
of a Crime
(12) Possession or Manufacture of a Destructive Explosive Device
(13) Civil Disorder and Illegal Entry
(14) Disorderly Conduct
(15) Disturbing the Peace
(16) Insurrection

*Of course all these charges could have been avoided had the Department of Homeland Security been on the job, so that Capital Police and National Guard could be alerted to the impending threat against our Government. Had they been alerted, perhaps there would have been a broad array of Canine Corps, CS and CN Tear Gas, Pepper Spray, Fire Repellent Powder and/or Extinguishers, Water Cannons and a very strong impenetrable Police line with Barbed Wire.

Heck the year before that, when one guy tried to charge the White House in his Toyota Camry, they closed the entire entry to the White House and put up fencing and restraints with a Guard Shack. Why was our Government Blind Sided on January 6th, 2021? This may be the question to be answered and addressed in any information gathering by the Congress for future events. At least we can hope so.

So far, there have been five deaths attributed to this event, along with 138 Police injured during the event, some with career ending injuries. The PTSD to many members of Congress from the event will last for some time to come. If will be difficult to forget something this traumatic, if it had happened to you. Someone has stolen our innocence regarding the safety of our Government and probably someone should have to pay for that.
