Because one of our readers, Eric Marcus Neshanian, Esq. — foe of Farrah Khan and intrepid disrupter of business as usual — has been unable to resist posting off-topic comments expressing Armenian grievances on other serious posts, we have created this post for him to talk about whatever he wants that doesn’t violate site standards. (Some mild mangling of Yiddish terms, justified by Eric as a response to Israeli support for Turkish denial of the Armenian Genocide, will be tolerated, because that really was wrong.)
Many, perhaps most, of his previous comments will be transported here. Here is a map of Armenia, Azerbaijan, and the disputed territory they each claim from the Wikimedia site, used in an article today by Newsweek. Nagorno-Karabakh has a different name in Armenian, but I don’t recall what it is and I hope that Eric will fill us in on it. As you can see, the borders are a mess (thanks to the colonial Soviet regime’s mangling the border lines as badly as Great Britain once did in the Middle East.)
Here are some of Eric’s previous comments on topics of his choosing, along with my occasional replies:
Somewhere Orly Taitz is scratching her head wondering how she missed out on this mishegas [over Farrah Khan, Mike Carroll, and the Dan Chmielewski payment.] That is some good feather ruffling bubby. Way to scramble up the kugel.
[Greg] Two out of three Yiddish words used correctly is not bad these days! (No one scrambles kugel.)
I didn’t write this for your enjoyment, but I did realize that you’d enjoy it. I’ll bet I know what publication is likely to pick it up.
They do, if Kugel is slang for one’s mind or brain as in your kugel is soft. Which it is, in some circles.
Kugel has several meanings beyond noodle pudding, bubby! Carry on!
There is no indication on Google or Wikipedia that what you’re saying is true, although it is apparently used as slang among the older generation of South African Jews for what we in this country would once have called a “Jewish American Princess.”
Eric, what you’re doing is called “hijacking a post,” and I’m done with it. I’ll create a new post for you [n.b., this one!] to put all of your Armenian patriotic commentary on Turkey, Azerbaijan, etc, and you can post it there, along with your mangling of Yiddish and other grievances. This is an alternative to simply banning you rather than putting you into moderation (as I’ve done), out of deference to your having a cogent perspective to offer but just seem unwilling to refrain from hijacking other posts. But I’m going to start deleting everything you have to say that detracts from the topic at hand. If I’m in a good mood I’ll move it to that [this!] post.
Melahat is a Turkish name. Just saying. Speaking about thick plots.
You mean the ‘news’ outfit Voice of OC that has Wylie Aitken (ADL acolyte = Genocide denier sympathizer) as the Chairman of its Board and is touting his daughter’s run for Santa Ana mayor. There is an Armenian-American population in Santa Ana wait until they get wind they Wylie and Darren took awards from ADL an organization steeped in lobbying against formal US recognition of Armenian Genocide on behalf of Israel and Turkey. The DNC wouldn’t appoint a supporter of an organization that lobbied for Holocaust denial to chair it’s senate federal judge appointment committee so why is Wylie who is in bed with Genocide deniers be so qualified for the position.
Turks infiltrating US opportunity zones. Me wonders: is that is afoot in the OC.
But, farrahkhan is speaking at builders convention later this month.
I don’t think this fellow gets it. He posted three more Armenian – slash – obscure Yiddish comments on that same Chmielewski story yesterday. And I copy them here:
Eric Neshanian, 10/20 at 6:41 pm:
Persian Jews often have surnames ending in -ian and the Iranian population is not a monotheistic or homogenised population. Saying someone is Iranian doesn’t even scratch the surface. There are Turkic speaking folks in Iran. So what’s your point. You are just showing lack of knowledge. Carry on.
Eric Neshanian, 10/20 at 6:44 pm:
Exhibit A Armenian names do not all end in -ian. -yan also. And also names that would otherwise seem Russian, Romanian, Bulgarian, etc. Sergei Parajanov. Face it Greg, you are a simpleton.
Eric Neshanian, 10/20 at 7:28 pm:
Admit it.
You didn’t know kugel had a slang meaning in the Yiddish
Lexicon. You don’t think there is Yiddish slang in regions other than South Africa you myopic boob. Lol. Awfully thin skinned and misinformed, are we?
You are a schmuck. These were all responses to Mr. Diamond’s comments in that story. It’s not like this blog has a great following. Carry on schmuck.
And undeterred, Mr Neshanian continues:
“If noodle is slang for your brain, head or cabeza well it would naturally flow that kugel would be slang for that to especially among English speakers in America who use Yiddish. You are about as smart as a bag of rocks. Real confident too. Lol!!!”
For the bit about Armenian names, I was just repeating Al Pacino’s line spoken in his role as Armenian playwright Ivan Travalian in the justly forgotten film,Author! Author! I think that it has also come up in discussions of my favorite hero-except-for-the-sexual-battery, John Yossarian, from Catch-22..
OK, I didn’t think of the “use your noodle” angle, perhaps because I’ve never heard “kugel” used that way before. Ever. From anyone. But it’s OK, because it’s not while we have a great following — except in quality!
Greg, how many friends do you have with whom you speak Yiddish??? You are not the sole voice in the tribe. And, labelling this thread my Armenian grievances is rather racist especially since Israel Israel Israel has invaded almost every candidate up and down every election race from like local water district to governor in California and beyond for like 40 or 50 years. If Farrahkhan sided with neo-nazis you’d be in a fuhrer er furor over it. But since she seems to be running with grey wolves and you like some Turkish policies, that’s ok.
You are about as American and likely Jewish for that matter as a pop tart is a bakery fresh danish. Carry on pop tart!!
Jews of my generation don’t usually speak Yiddish fluently — that’s two or three generations back — but we do use Yiddish terms, because Yiddish has an inordinate amount of terms for personality defects, much as the Inuit were supposed to have for snow, and most of them are funny.
Until someone else “from the tribe” speaks to the topic, I am the sole voice here. You want to introduce some other contradicting voices? Provide links.
This post’s name (it’s not a “thread,” FGS) is purely descriptive — I guess it could be “the Armenian Grievance and Occasional Pokes at Jews Post,” but that seemed provocative. But hey, I’m happy to work with you on it! What title do you suggest? You’re the star attraction here!
I think that pro-Israel (in effect, pro-Likud policy) political positions have way too much power and pro-Palestinian positions too little, and I have taken much abuse for defending that position within the party, which is filled with people who sound like you, but with a difference genocide in mind. I’m “Zionist” in that I think that Israel has a right to survive as a Jewish homeland — which means it’s going to have to be way smaller than it wants — but I don’t believe that that right trumps everything else in the world, as some seem to. So I don’t know who you think you’re talking to, but it’s probably a distorted cartoon-like projection of who you think I am. But I get the sense that talking about my friendly relations of and defense of Muslims is just going to send you down even further down a different rabbit hole.
Farrah’s a Muslim, though somewhere between devout and Melahat-level secularism (and I think closer to the latter), so I don’t begrudge her the right to be supportive of Muslims in general. You would be correct to stereotype me as an ACLU supporter, and I generally think that the cure to bad speech is more speech. The troubles of Armenia aren’t that well-known here in the states, and in response to Farrah’s trip to Baku I’m letting you voice them here — which is good. I’m going to push back a little when you take a Manichean (100% good vs. evil) view of them, because I don’t think that it’s quite that simple: Russia drew a line with a whole lot of Armenians put into Azerbaijan, and that commonplace colonialist cock-up is the fundamental problem here. (The conflict with Turkey has a different etiology, of course.) It strikes me as completely ripe for negotiation — my guess is with Armenia getting all or most of the disputed territory while the Azeris receive land to the south, along the Iranian border, linking up the two Azeri territories — so go ahead and denounce me for that.
Farrah’s siding with the neo-Nazis would bother me on several levels — not just the merits of it (does anyone who isn’t nuts defends them?), but also her no having apparent personal stake in that conflict. I believe that we all get to grind our personal axes. But you have a forum here to make your case — hopefully a bit better than you’re doing now — so I hope you’ll get on with it. And if some Azeri comes along wanting to defend Azerbaijan, I suppose that I’ll have to give them the same sort of forum. (You hate that even-handedness, I know, but that’s how airing grievances works. You can go along and have anti-Semites and whoever you want on your own blog.)
I don’t get the whole “pop-tart” thing. You seem to deny that I’m American — do I need to show you my birth certificate and passport? — and that I’m actually Jewish, which makes you a schmuck. So put that on your list of things you should explain sometime.
“The Neshanian Whisterer” is, I think, inspired — but, as you can see, we are not succeeding in the “whispering” category. As a presumably competent attorney, He Shall Not Be Whispered!
Oh, he has so pwned me! My poor kugel!
Don’t forget to remove them from the other post and mark them as “[moved”], if they even made it there; he’ll get it eventually.
There was a backstory that Yossarian was Assyrian. But my bar # ends 22. And my surname phonetically – farrahkhan’s mother tongue – means “sign” or “warning” . So there catch that.
Yossarian, despite having a clearly non-Assyrian surname, claimed to be Assyrian — probably because no one knew where Assyria was anymore and he liked to mess with people. Are you saying that your middle name isn’t “Marcus”?
I don’t know Farrkhan’s mother or her tongue. Please be less cryptic. But if you’re actually “Eric Warning Sign,” we can change your user name to that. Let us know.
Da duck is all this then? I want a refund in the pst half hour of my life.

The DOJ and FBI wouldn’t confer with an organization steeped in anti-semitism or Holocaust denial in Los Angeles or anywhere else in United States so why then would they do so with an organization steeped in a history of lobbying against US recognition of Armenian Genocide in largest Armenian diaspora population in United States while it was engaged in spreading anti-Armenian pro-Azerbaijan propaganda in Los Angeles. Inciteful and provocative, much?
https://www.justice.gov/usao-cdca/pr/us-attorney-s-office-fbi-and-adl-host-discussion-hate-crimes-hate-incidents-and
Just to be clear:
Your first argument is that because the Anti-Defamation League (which works against what it deems to be discrimination against Jews) in the past lobbied against recognition of the Armenian Genocide as qualifying as a “genocide” (which matches my recollection, but I wouldn’t bet your life on it), it is not improper for the FBI and DOJ to even confer with the ADL at all.
And your second argument is that anything you deem to be anti-Armenian and pro-Azerbaijaini (and from your other comments, I would add “pro-Turkish” propaganda should be rejected by our society as completely out of bounds, correct?
I’m asking this next question not to be provocative but because I honestly don’t know the answer: has the United Nations or other major human rights groups such as the International Commission on Human Rights ever taken a position of condemning the ADL or considering Azerbaijan and Turkey “rogue nations” to be set apart from the international community? I think that the answer is probably “no” and “probably not,” and I think I know to what you will attribute that, but I want to start by assembling some undisputed facts to work with.
Oh I’m sorry Greg only pro-Palestine, pro-Arab and anti-Israel propaganda as determined by the AJC (who also lobbied against formal US recognition of Armenian Genocide), ADL and other American Israel lobby organizations should be rejected as completely out of bounds by our society.

And, I thought Genocide Denial is a hate crime. Or, is that only Holocaust denial?
Would it be ok for the FBI, DOJ and HSA to publicize collaborating with KKK to stop hate crimes? What is the difference, Greg? Are the ADL and AJC the hate crime clearinghouse? And you need to read their organization statements closer, they don’t allegedly represent all tribe
members. Greg, I thought it was tikkun olam and never again not tikkun olam and never again unless you are Armenian.

Forgive me Greg! I forgot only tribe members can morally equivilate, name and shame and lobby for countries that among other things employ Islamic terrorists, violate the Geneva convention and conspire and attempt to commit genocide. Something about being chosen.

You’re attributing views and associations to me that I do not hold, as plenty of people around here know.
But your calling *me* racist in the middle of your tirade is pretty funny.
Ok, keep going, Face of Armenia, until you wear yourself out, rather than simply thin.
No, you are doing that to me.
You’re applying positions to me that I don’t hold — such as unlimited agreement with ADL positions and practices.
The ironic thing is that I’ve argued that we Jews exacerbate our problems when we don’t embrace justice movements even when they are at our expense. I’ve also argued that the anti-semitism to worry about is not anti-Zionism or the employment of even arguable tropes such as Jews being disproportionately represented and empowered in the media and banking, but old-style Protocols of the Elders of Zion & Rothschilds ideology.
Interestingly, I don’t think you’ve explicitly mentioned either, though you’ve come close, but my sense — correct me if I’m wrong — that you’d happily employ them without compunction if you thought it would help your cause. True?
Your continuing anti-Semitic (vs. Jews and Arabs) offer a good example of what I argue we court when we support injustice, so thanks for that, I guess. But while your behavior supports my contention to an extent, it probably offers even more support for the views of the ADL, which argues that anti-Jewish bile is so firmly entrenched that nothing Jews do can alter it … so we might as well be total hard-asses and defend ourselves as aggressively and uncompromisingly as you do Armenia and it’s interests.
The interesting thing — and this is an ADL point that I admit has some bite — is that even if Jews or Israel or the ADL or my real nemeses in AIPAC had agreed that the events around 1915 constituted “genocide,” it would likely not have mattered at all to the actual fate of NG/ArtS. Most US media already use the term Armenian Genocide for what happened. U.S. support for Turkey is not high and was waned over Erdogan’s rule.
I can only presume that your intent, rather than squabbling over nomenclature over a historical event, is to try to ensure that Turkey and Israel are at odds rather than embracing each other over mutual need for friends in the region. Of course, your actions have the exact opposite effect. You’re stirring up ever greater antagonism among Jews and Sunni Arabs — I presume that Shi’ites were already maxed out where you’re concerned — and you’re undermining the only realistic pathways to peace through negotiation, which I’ve laid out.
Anyway, you have a few more days before this post gets closed down — so enjoy the lavish amount of rope you have left.
Face it American Zionist Jews hung the Jewry out to dry over the Armenian Genocide. And, you give me way to much credit and attribute things to me that do not apply. As for anti-semtism, let’s start with resolving it in the tribe before casting stones. As for Zionism, you cannot use a political cause and special relationships and strategic partnerships to explain injustice imposed on others – Zionism is putting otherwise good people on the wrong side of history mostly for a country were they would not survive spiritually. As for my cause, what is my cause?
You opened a can of worms
and got a one of whoop ass
You tried to make a carnival act
And got jacked
Smacked
You cracked
It’s a fact

What’s that smell? Greg on a skewer? I smell shish kebab!!!
Oh myopic booby one, you need to stick to what you know. I don’t know what that is but it isn’t in this post. Have you ever been to Tehrangeles oh booby one? Irvine is like Shirvine.
If anyone may be stirring up emotions it’s ill informed (benefit of doubt given) politicians at the local level like Farrahkhan that is taking sides and playing favorites while feigning inclusivity and diversity. Not me. I’m just casting light on her impending peril. Right now, about the Capitol Beltway, one Patrick Buchanan likely buckles in laughter at the Reckoning which appears to have befallen us. Farrahkhan ain’t your neighbor. School teachers have lost their jobs over less then the crap she has attached to this city.
Mmm. Shish kebab!! I likes me some chicken. Chicken is good skewered over a fire!! Juices causing the fire to dance. Speaking of which, chicken dance much, Greg?

“The troubles of Armenia aren’t that well-known here in the states,”
“Most US media already use the term Armenian Genocide for what happened.”
“Your continuing anti-Semitic (vs. Jews and Arabs) offer a good example of what I argue we court when we support injustice, so thanks for that,”
“There is a notable difference between the Armenian Genocide and the Jewish Genocide under Hitler, though: Turks were concerned that Armenians would be a “fifth column” within their territory — and I couldn’t blame the Armenians if they had been — but they were not dedicated to eliminating the Armenian culture and bloodline root and stem.”
“so we might as well be total hard-asses and defend ourselves as aggressively and uncompromisingly as you do Armenia and it’s interests.”
You can draw a straight line from the American Israel Lobby to Theodr Herzl and the Armenian Question. Pointing out the truth is not anti Semitic despite it offending your Jewish sensitivities. Zionists like you have been obfuscating the Genocide for Ottoman Turkey and it’s successor nation since before 1915 for excuses like special relationship. Your quotes above are laughable and truly highlight you are indeed a myopic boob. Neither of us may be responsible for the American Israel Lobby (whom doesn’t know about Armenians being a stakeholder in Israel based on your statement above that Americans don’t know about the problems of Armenia but knew about the Armenian Genocide before it became well publicised by American media paraphrasing you again) but you and I both face potential exposure to further hatred because of their conduct not mine. Don’t get too far over your skies. Or, identify my “antisemitic” comments. I’m not the foolish, racist, hypocrite Greg, you are.
Which people Greg? Will someone on the interweb come to this myopic boob’s defense. You may want to allow anonymous posting for this one Vern to widen the pool of Greg’s potential supporters.
Greg the FDA approved OxyContin.
Does it only become actionable if the United Nations or other major human rights groups such as the International Commission on Human Rights ever taken a position of condemning the ADL or considering Azerbaijan and Turkey “rogue nations” to be set apart from the international community? You completely overlook the AJC.
The UN and IHRC (not ICHR) are manufactured jokes. Does what they say or do really matter in the grand scheme of things? Why would they have any oversight over an NGO like the ADL or AJC.
Greg, you don’t dispute your myopia or the hypocrisy. Your myopia and hypocrisy make you come off racist.
Just curious what Turkish policies you agree with Greg. Care to elaborate.
If you agree with the ADL or AJC or American Israel Lobby at all, you get the whole pie oh myopic booby one. You don’t get to celebrate the fruits of their labour and disavow the poisonous byproduct of their efforts. If and when history catches up with Zionism and it will, like everything else, what then for well meaning tribe members? Zionists group all tribe members together like you seem to wanna group all Muslims together. They ain’t the same. Druze ain’t Shi’a or Sunni. Ottomans helped Sephardic Jews but some Jews in the Palestinian mandate suffered oppression or worse under Ottoman rule. So the whole oh We have a special relationship with Turks fails, Ottoman Turkey hasn’t existed for like 100 years or so, so what relationship is the American Israel Lobby referring to?? That relationship ended with Ottoman Turkey right ??? Get a grip. You wack, jack, er Greg.

1. Belying rumors to the contrary, Farrah did show up Saturday night and received the DPOC Truthiness Award.
2. The newly minted FivePoint loyal Chmielewski dutifully printed her acceptance speech which had nothing to do with “truth” or any relevant controversies, but was instead a call for “Democratic unity.” https://theliberaloc.com/2021/10/25/khans-dpoc-acceptance-speech-serves-as-reminder-for-unity/
3. Democratic unity, aka “shut up and don’t argue or criticize.” It reminds me of when me and Donna caught Jordan Brandman moving out of his District 3 place at literally the last hour possible (late at night on the last day of February 2018) to carpetbag into District 2 so he could run against James Vanderbilt, and how he told us “We Democrats all have to support each other now, BECAUSE TRUMP.”
4. Dan has some fucking “testicular fortitude” calling for Democratic unity right after his most popular post in months gratuitously blasting Democrat Gina Clayton-Tarvin for an alleged exaggeration in 2018.
5. Speaking of which I listened to that Gina video again, and she did not say there was an “active shooter” when she taught in Hawaiian Gardens in the 90’s, she said “a gunman on campus.”. She was not lying or exaggerating, anyone who was paying attention back then knows that the place was a war zone between blacks and Latinos, and she is not gonna try to prove anything to Dan Chemical Lewinsky because she is NOT HIS MONKEY. (Dan however IS the monkey of both Five point and HB’s alt-right.)
Sure does not seem like DPOC is proud of their event or providing Farrahkhan the truthiness award. Absolutely no publicity of the event anywhere except by LiberalOC. You would think such a remarkable success of an event would be widely publicized. Padilla appeared to be home watching the Dodgers game and no confirmation of Schiff’s participation. Oh, and $300k is good fundraising in Orange County for the democratic party? There is probably money on the sidelines that does not want to play with the DPOC. .
Vern, could you move (or at least copy) your comment to a more appropriate story?
Sorry for the interruption, Eric — continue your core dump.
Same comment is on two other stories.
There may be some Turkey roasting going on at an upcoming Irvine council meeting. I thought countries that finance islamic terrorism were supposed to be condemned not honored. Those council members are either being bribed or threatened with harm because honoring any foreign country at the municipal level makes no sense especially a fascist country. Those folks down at City Hall seem hell bent on abetting Farrahkhan’s normalisation of Islamic totalitarian regimes. What’s next, they are going to revoke the municipal code in favor of sharia law??
The Turkish Republic is teetering on complete economic and political failure which doesn’t loom well for its citizens or its neighbors. What result are Farrahkhan and her council members trying to accomplish? Inclusivity? Hardly.

Kev Abazajian spoke in favor of the ARDA site tonight at Irvine City Council Meeting as he is an Agran acolyte but I have not confirmed if he spoke against agenda item 2.3 regarding Turkish Republic Day. Farrahkhan talked about democracy with respect to support Gypsum Camyon something she has previously demonstrated she knows little if anything about encouraging Irvine and American citizens to emulate the democratic values and inclusivity of Azerbaijan. Hello, strong man fan anyone?? Anyone?!
Oh yeah and Farrahkhan accused Agran speaking to her in a mysogynistic tone and Carroll portrayed himself as an advocate for alleged ‘racist’ remarks made towards Vice Mayor Kim when someone questioned her citizenship.
All this over a resolution that has no legal force.
Oh yeah and Mike Carroll took some obligatory cheap shots at Agran.

Let’s face facts, anti-hate programs have nothing really to do with equality, equity, diversity and inclusiveness and almost everything to do with power and politics.
Stopping Asian hate would logically require stopping Asian hate in the Asian community (the same way it would require stopping anti-semitism amongst tribe members. You think Haredi like Reform Jews – they don’t even think they are Jewish). Come on!
But the Stop Asian Hate lobby doesn’t really want to stop Asian Hate, they can’t fund raise on solving Asian Hate the same way the American Israel Lobby can’t fund raise for Israel without conflating everything with anti-semitism and sensationalizing Jew hatred. And, the same way Arafat couldn’t stay in power promoting a peace plan.
It is racist grouping all Asians together, let alone not addressing the racism and conflicts and controversies among different Asian ethnic groups. By placing all Asians in the Asian column, it spares those outside from learning about Asians as a multi-ethnic group with all the idiosyncrasies and histories that come with that multi-ethnicity. Asians are not a monolith made of one stone. Treating them the same and claiming to be anti-Asian hate belittles to conflicted histories these ethnic groups share. Comfort women, slave labor, etc.
I don’t need to worry that Japanese and Chinese and Koreans don’t all necessarily like each other because I’m a Stop Asian hate activist.
Just more virtue signaling and political Kabuki theater that promotes ignorance of the masses.
When Asians hate on each other, is it Asian hate? When Jews hate on each other, is it Jewish hate. How come there are never any stories on these subjects in the mass media. You know why, because that would be contrary to the control process which the power paradigm wants to keep in place which obfuscates the truth.

Why don’t Armenians lobby the Council to create an Armenian Republic Day in Irvine, if there isn’t already one? (And if there is already one, that bore mention, as it would put things in a different light.)
I have to admit that it’s nice to have some regular coverage of Irvine here, even if it is not exactly unbiased. (Or hinged. Or edited.)
“Greg, are you disputing that Irvine is a Turkish outpost any longer, you myopic boob!!!!”
I’m not disputing that I’m myopic, but corrective lenses get me by. But yes, I am disputing that Irvine is “a Turkish outpost” because the term “outpost” has an actual meaning, and this ain’t it.
I admit that Irvine’s policy statements under Mayor Khan have been generally positive about treating Muslim countries and populations with respect — something that in general I favor. As for the trip to Baku, I’ll wait for an investigation. I think that you should consider that positive views of Azeris — and I just discovered that their numbers include Sibel Edmonds, founder if the National Security Whistleblowers Coalition, who is wonderful, so you should stop with sweeping statements reviling them — is intrinsically threatening to the status of the Armenian people. You can survive that.
You have a land dispute created by colonialist idiots in the old Soviet Union who drew lines in such a way as to create a substantial irridentist (people outside of their cultural home country’s territory who want the land to revert to their home country) population in Nagorno-Karabakh/Artsakh — and that is a political problem subject to political resolution, for which you should be agitating. A successful resolution usually involves some sort of land swap. I think, having done more research, that the United Nations should appoint a special rapporteur to figure out a solution to a problem involving a total population literally about half the size of Irvine’s. Redrawing national boundaries — the detached southeastern enclave of Azeris seems like another significant problem — so that people can live in peace and harmony seems highly advisable. And as it stands you’re not helping matters.
As for the Turks, I’ve never disputed that Turkey massacred large numbers of Armenians — around a million seems to be the accepted figure outside of Turkey — in and around the outset and duration of World War 2.
Whether that counts as a “genocide” depends on that poorly defined word — we failed to recognize a genocide in Darfur when it was happening, or the massacre of Tutsis, or many others, so Armenia is not alone in being denied what seems to me to be an appropriate appellation — but we can start by recognizing exactly what happened: the deaths of about a million Armenians at the hands of the Ottoman Empire.
That long-lasting empire was concerned (and reasonably so) that Armenians would break away from it an possibly make common cause with the Empire’s enemies after the 1912-13 Balkan wars. Knowing that they had a rational geopolitical interest doesn’t excuse atrocities, of course, but it’s as useful for understanding their present sensitivities as the history of that massacre is for understanding yours.
There is a notable difference between the Armenian Genocide and the Jewish Genocide under Hitler, though: Turks were concerned that Armenians would be a “fifth column” within their territory — and I couldn’t blame the Armenians if they had been — but they were not dedicated to eliminating the Armenian culture and bloodline root and stem. They were just inconveniently located — as, for example, the Israelis consider the Palestinians — and they wanted them out of the way. Hitler, by contrast, literally wanted to conquer the world, and literally wanted to extirpate both Jewish culture and Jewish blood worldwide — which makes the Holocaust the paradigmatic example of a genocide. (But again, I don’t think that that excuses Israeli acts towards the Palestinians.)
Turkey’s laws against even mentioning the Armenian Genocide — at least partly out of the belief that it sullies the creation of their Republic, in a similar way that the South doesn’t want schoolkids to learn about the legacy of slavery — are obviously repulsive. (And as I say that, I note that the pressures on Jews not to discuss the oppression of the Palestinians are also pretty severe. If Farrah supports Turkey’s laws against recognition of the genocide — and someone should ask her about that! — it would justify condemnation. But if she argues that the massacres were not a campaign of total extirpation, but in kind with massacres of millions all around the globe — including, ahem, the U.S.’s campaign against Aboriginal Americans and Australians campaign against Aboriginal Australians — she’d be on firmer ground.
Your argument is that because of what happened in and around 1915, we should continue to condemn Turkey — although I’m not sure what you want beyond their acknowledging it and allowing Armenia to be as is wishes. I can see your point — but frankly Turkey’s refusal to acknowledge its crimes has a whole lot of company besides just in the U.S. — in Japan, France, England, Spain, Belgium, etc. — and we still talk to all of those countries politely. As for the troubles in and around Armenia, yes, these are serious issues, but I’ve already mentioned above how we ought to approach them.
You really are a moron. Citing the UN and distorting history and engaging in moral equivalency between Genocide and Holocaust.
Artsakh declared its independence by popular vote in 1991 when Azerbaijan did.
You are just proving how truly ignorant and insensitive to others you truly are Greg.
The Holocaust is a terribly defined word created by Genocide denier Elie Wiesel. He was a denier before he wasn’t.
I think you response proves my point about your myopia and hypocrisy causing you to come off as a racist.
Irvine = a remote part of Turkish Republic (outpost)
You don’t even know basic English vocabulary for ‘f’ sake.
And you don’t know Farrakhan. Not one thing.
You are picking and choosing facts and distorting histories of countries you know little if anything about.
Carry on Greg, you are proving my point about you.
A lot of hot air pretending to know something.
It’s ok for Zionists to spread pro-Azeri, pro Turkish, anti-Armenian propaganda in Los Angeles synagogues and Jewish media outlets leading up to the ‘illegal’ invasion of Artsakh with the assistance of Islamic terrorist deployed by Turkey and Israel and Turkish material support and manpower and thereafter.
You know nothing about Muslims or Islam. And, all you are doing is demonstrating how ignorant you are.
The definition of genocide was written by a Jew – Lemkin – based on the Ottoman Turkish model. Genocide is genocide despite your sorry attempt to engage in moral equivalency.
It’s ok Greg, when they come for you, you’ll be by yourself because you lacked the chutzpah or the sechel to speak up when you should have.
OK, now you’re just being silly — starting with the idea that Irvine is “part of [the] Turkish Republic.” Is this how careful you are when you practice law?
For good fun, queue to 1:37 and sit back and enjoy, it gets juicy at the end.

…Umm do you live in Irvine, Greg? How many Turks, Arabs, Greeks, Armenians and Jews live in Irvine?

Explain Turkish but not Arabic, Greek, Armenian or Hebrew on the We Are Irvine propaganda campaign, Farrahkhan suggesting US citizens honor Azeribaijan’s democratic values and emulate their inclusivity (it is one of the most undemocratic countries and 99% Muslim), explain her claiming Dolma is an Azerbaijani delicacy or celebrating the Islamic brotherhood of the Azerbaijan-Pakistan-Turkish axis – three states, one nation.
Yeah. Cuz unlike Hitler, some Muslims don’t have machinations of world domination. You don’t know squat about Islam or the Koran.
I’ve been practicing law much longer than you. So what is your point?
You were a professor? Scary. You did you teach distorting the truth and history.
If and when Turkey takes over Central Asia and the Caucasus, what next?

So it’s mere coincidence that all this pro-Turkic crap is going on in Irvine while it has a mayor who emigrated from Pakistan and a city manager who emigrated from either Kazakhstan or Azerbaijan?
You need a strong prescription for you glasses.
You are hyperbolically saying that “Irvine is part of the Turkish Republic” and you expect it to be taken literally. Influenced by? Ok. Controlled by? Doubtful, but arguable. “Part of”? That is nuts. No reason to dignify it with an answer.
Can you imagine ANY POSSIBLE WAY that I might have been practicing law longer than I have been licensed *in California*, Counselor?

Last month, Bruce Ramer of the American Jewish Committee and Abraham Foxman of the Anti-Defamation League, along with others, traveled to Austin, Texas, to have lunch with Governor Bush. Ramer raised the issue of Buchanan, whose book A Republic, Not an Empire had just been published. In the book, Buchanan blames Britain and France for World War II: “Had Britain and France not given the war guarantees to Poland, there might have been no Dunkirk, no Belgium, Luxembourg, France, or even Italy.” (This view has been shared by a minority of historians, but expressing it didn’t win Buchanan any political points.) These concerns did not move Bush, who came out with a statement later the same week saying that Buchanan should remain in the party.

Greg, I see Farsi on the City of Irvine’s website as one of its official languages. But, I don’t see Turkish or Azerbaijani. https://www.cityofirvine.org/
I see Farsi on OC Voters guide but I don’t see Turkish or Azerbaijan.
https://www.ocvote.com/es/node/511
Farsi speaking residents of Irvine consist of more than 10% of the population.
So why the inclusion of Turkish in the We Are Irvine propaganda campaign?
I presume that it was due to a desire on Farrah’s part to be inclusive towards the Sunni Muslim world.
Like it or not, that’s her prerogative — and it’s not in and of itself to reach out to Sunni Muslims, despite your inclination.
But you are, in a lawyerly bullshitting fashion, trying to build that one small piece of evidence into something gigantic suggesting that a Turkish/Pakistani/Azerbaijani cabal literally controls the Irvine City government.
I don’t know your area of law, but if you were a prosecutor than every single case you ever tried ought to be reviewed — because your building a mountain out of this is ridiculous.
Farrah is not controlled by Turkey. As we’ve documented here recently, she’s controlled by Melahat and Patrick Strader.
So she is taking sides. Sunni over Shia? Do Sunnis and Shia get along?
When a Shia attacks a Sunni or vice versa other is it islamophobia or a hate crime? If a muslim threatens a christian, is it a hate crime? Is there a word for hate crimes committed against Christians?
It is not one small piece of evidence. Trips to Azerbaijan, spreading Azerbaijan propaganda on her social media page and the Azeri consulate’s social media page, participating in celebration of Islamic Brotherhood of Turkey, Pakistan and Azerbaijan in the United States, placing Turkish language on the We Are Irvine propaganda campaign, abd accepting donations from the Turkish American lobby which denies the Armenian Genocide.
Take your blinders off, Greg. And, you are the b*llshitting lawyer, not me.
And, Melahat is likely a Iranian national of Turkish or Turkic descent, you dummy. So, she can’t be backed by a Turk who you name and simulateneously be disavowed of not being bought by Turkey as you allege. Its disingenuous spinning on your part which makes me wonder what skin you have in the game for deflecting and obfuscating all the evidence regarding the connecting between Farrahkhan and Turkey. You don’t live in Irvine, you are jewish and you are failed politician in local democratic (d) circles. Are you trying to get in the good graces of a certain person you assume to be a power broker. Believe you me, Farrahkhan is already caused a rift in the local party and she is now causing a greater rift between neighboring party committees and likely the CDP. It doesn’t look like its going to end well for her or California democrats, for that matter, depending on how this all pans out. Wait and see.
Ottoman Turks were trying to dominate the world centuries before there was a Hitler. Keep it up myopic boob. Turkic peoples are invasive species. See Hungary. See modern day Europe. They don’t integrate, they intimidate and overtake.
https://www.shutterstock.com/search/ottoman+empire+map
And hitler citing Armenians as a basis for his extermination plan.

And Jewish resistance fighters used Musa Dagh story as their motivation.
https://www.timesofisrael.com/how-armenias-1915-musa-dagh-fighters-inspired-jews-to-resist-nazi-genocide/
So who is bullsh*tting, who, Greg, you myopic boob living in a vacuum?
Sunni and Shia get along like Protestants and Catholics have. Sometimes well, sometimes not, especially when bad leaders try to inflame religious divisions.
It’s been a while since Melahat and I were on terms where I could inquire as to her ancestry, but I believe her to be Iranian of Iranian ancestry.
“Turkic people are invasive species?” Wow.
I think that you just accused me of trying to ingratiate myself with Farrah Khan? If so, I sure am going about it in a roundabout way!
Yes, Turkey had a decent-sized empire long before Hitler. I’m not sure where you think I said otherwise. But “dominate the whole world” in the sense that Hitler was? I don’t recall their ever getting quite that ambitious.
How could you have any recollection of what either Hitler or Ottoman Turkey intended. Go back and read source material on Genghis Khan and Atilla the Hun. On the words of Don Rickels “what are you a moron?”
Azerbaijan is Shi’a like Iran. Are there more Azeris in Irvine then Iranians, Greg? Azerbaijan has let Israel come on in to survey Iran. Farrakhan is shoving her head in a place from which she may not be able to extricate her arse. Just like there are Khmer Rouge elements in so cal, there are other elements too that I bet our intelligence agencies have no or little data on.
https://www.atlanticcouncil.org/blogs/iransource/iranian-war-games-on-the-border-with-azerbaijan-were-really-a-message-to-israel/
And it’s my prerogative to drag Farrakhan like she rightly deserves.
[Moved from another post where it would only serve to disrupt discussion.]

Tie in between ADL and vice mayor Kim, in April 2021 they participated in seminar with Orange County Bar Association entitled “Anti-Hate Community Presentation
Presented by the OCBA Diversity & Inclusion Committee” and now she claims to be victim of AAPI hate. Hmm, diversion tactic? Kim collaborates with organization steeped in denial of Armenian Genocide on behalf of Israel and Turkey and then purports to be victim of hate crime. Gee, how convenient. The economy of hate crimes.
And in other news, Pete Hardin to run against Spitzer based on his hate crime record.

You citation of Sibel Edmonds positive view of Azerbaijan is a complete falsehood.
Perhaps the most scandalous revelation in the documentary was made by Sibel Edmonds, who was fired from her FBI job for informing her superiors about the involvement of high-ranking U.S. politicians in illegal Turkish schemes: “The justification to the excuse the United States government has been using, we are doing this [denial of the Armenian Genocide] for sensitive diplomatic relations. This is a hypocrisy that I have been witnessing, especially with inside knowledge of what takes place in the United States. It started with trying to do the right thing and we fought criminal activities bought and abused and basic retaliation for that.”
Explaining why then Speaker of the House Dennis Hastert killed the Genocide recognition bill at the last minute, Edmonds stated: “It was a move that came with a price. He had bribery with cash to lock this vote. He also took bribery in the form of sexual favors during his junket trips to Turkey in a particular hotel that he would stay. Sexual favors would be delivered to him—underage males. In addition, it was delivered in his townhouse; it was bribery, foreign bribery, which constituted treason. But that was a very small portion of what the FBI has already gathered. In Chicago, he also was directly involved with the notorious Turkish network that handled very large percentage of heroin-related activities, operations, sales in the United States, including receiving cash in suitcases from these particular people, and he and his chief of staff; their evidences were monitored. They were bugged not only for audio but also for video. The FBI had in its possession, starting from 1997, slam-dunk evidence in their hands, criminally implicated Dennis Hastert. The State Dept. knows, many people in Congress whom I testified to… they know. And I said, ‘You watch, there would be no accountability, and mockery of the entire system.’”

And being an Iranian Azerbaijani could mean she is from a city like Tabriz in the Iranian province of Azerbaijan.
The name Azerbaijan for a nation is meant to confuse. Native Azerbaijanis from the country that arouse from the flames of mother Russia circa 1918 and then again at the collapse of the Soviet Republic are comprised of Tatars or Cossacks and Azerbaijan has existed for no more than 103 years.
You are just proving how ignorant you are Greg. Carry on myopic hypocrite.
Yeah Holocaust is ill defined because there was more than one oven.
PS. Sibel identifies as an American from Iran of Turkish descent. Melahat, much?
Interesting. OK, you win this one — and that’s good to know! What I remembered about her is that I respected her (and still do) and I applaud her for bringing that event to light. I found her in a list of people of Azeri descent; if I find that site again, I’ll point them towards your comment.
I’ve never argued that the Turkish government has done bad things, from 100+ years ago to the days of Erdogan. What I’ve argued against is your broader indictment of Muslims, your condemnation of all people of Turkic descent, and your ranking of Azerbaijan as the worst human rights violator in the world. By any standard other then “who is treating Armenia the worst?”, it is not — and even for that appellation they would likely be tied or behind Turkey, eh?
Oh, and I also disagree with your rampant anti-Jewish language here — I suppose in your case I can just use the word “anti-Semitism” correctly as you also seem to hate Arabs — and your blaming Jews everywhere (and anyone who accepts support from the ADL) for one policy decision, with which I disagree but which I acknowledge was undertaken for Israel to have at least one powerful ally in the area rather that out of an intrinsic hatred for Armenians, about what label to apply to a hideously disgusting historical event.
You keep talking about my being “myopic,” but I can easily move away from seeing situations through the lens of being an American Jew. You show no sign of being able to take a broader view than your perspective as an Armenian, in which the injustice done to your people is ipso facto the worst thing that has been done to anyone anywhere, and that the country with which you are in a territorial dispute, as a remnant of colonialism, must be the worst country in the world. THAT is myopia!
Anyone here (besides Eric, who doesn’t need an invitation) know anything about the reported 2015 mass killing of in Hojaly or Khojali in Artshak/Nagorna-Kasrabak? Azerbaijan calls it an act of genocide, but I’m reserving judgment.
Then again, TIME Magazine covers an Amnesty International report saying that both sides have committed war crimes in the disputed region, although personally from reading it I find the Azerbaijani ones described in the article to be worse. Then again, they were trying to dislodge Armenians from the territory, which a Russian-brokered peace treaty (negotiated after a series of Azerbaijani victories, as well as murder of civilians) would require them to do. I’d need to do more research into sources more credible than Eric here for me to know what happened next.
Worst war crimes of 2020? Bad, but not enough to make Azerbaijan the world’s worst, as Eric would appear to have it. Does it make anyone who wants an entente with Turkey a war criminal? No — there’s plenty as bad going on all over with the support of wealthy and powerful countries both near and far. Including, directly and indirectly, us.
It’s more than one policy decision. But those American Israel Lobby organizations that engaged in lobbying against the Armenian Genocide on Turkey and Israel’s behalf and for Azerbaijan on behalf of Israel alleged to do it on behalf of the Jewry. So at a minimum Genocide denial is part of contemporary American Jewish history as well as Jewish history as is aiding and abetting the attempted commission of the Genocide of Armenians in Artsakh. If they claim to represent YOU and you don’t speak up, it’s on YOU. Got it? It doesn’t go both ways, you myopic, hypocrite.
Azerbaijan is 1% not Muslim. They like using that 1% for propaganda. Look it’s a Jewish fascist with a rifle.

So far as I can tell, no visitor to the blog has ever clicked on one of those links. But I’m willing to leave them there as part of the evidentiary record.
Bushala told me that he clicked on the first few and then couldn’t take any more.
I’ve already said that I recognize it as a genocide — but that’s not enough. I think that we’re supposed to hate all Muslims and possibly all Jews. Seems like a pretty big ask! If we’re not 100% down with the Armenians, we’re apparently their enemies. Even giving them this (pretending for a moment that Neshanian speaks for them) forum doesn’t satisfy them! I mean, the Kurds have offered us a much better deal, and they’re going through much worse shit than the Armenians are! Tactically, it seems a bit foolish.
(Seriously, we just need three days more of loose rope…. I hadn’t wanted to mention the “drop dead” date yet, but you forced my hand!)
Never said anything about hating anyone oh myopic booby one. And, you waffled. You said it was a tragedy and many people were killed. But you still made it seem there was some philosophical or metaphysical or whatever difference between Holocaust and Genocide. And, then you basiscally admitted that denying it was perfectly fine for your bad ass ilk to pursue to protect yeretz Israel without acknowledging that Armenians are stakeholders in Israel having lived there continuously for like a millennia in a half. You are a parabolic waffler. It is but it isn’t. But it doesn’t matter cuz no one know about Armenians but they know about their massacre. The hateful ones are the Azeris moron. I’m not calling no one an infidel you wack mofo.
The myopic, hypocritical, racist booby one of Zionist and progressive leanings complains of purity tests and red lines. Muhahahahaha!!
American Zionists want BDS of Israel treated as a hate crime and deviation of their false narrative of Israel considered as antisemitism and will encourage BDS against any person, corporation, municipality, state or nation that doesn’t go along with them.
It’s legal for NY to divest from Unilever over Ben & Jerry’s position in Israel but a state divests from Israel, it’s illegal and they are vile, hateful antisemites.
If Zionist Jews take offensive positions that cause the tribe to face criticism or worse, the criticism or worse is the effect of antisemitism of the Zionist Jews. And, that’s okay because they use fear and hatred to drum up support and fundraise.
It’s like the fire starter that shows up to the fire they started to help put it out and later claims to be some kind of hero.
face it Greg, you can’t handle being confronted with truth and history that offend your sensitivities and as a result
must attack the messenger.
Do you even know my position on BDS, Counselor? I’ve published it here a few times; go search for it. If you can’t find it, I’ll just tell you.
See, Vern, he wants you to put the vinyl Metallica platter that you surely own into the stack above the notch on the stylus. “Queue, anon!”
Didn’t you ever stand in line for Metallica tix? Me neither.
No.
I suffered through a documentary about their substance abuse problems. I don’t know why. It was boring and depressing.
I did go to an Iron Maiden concert, because somebody gave me free tickets so I thought why not! And the show was GREAT! So the next day I tried to listen to one of their songs, and their music STILL SUCKED.
Hmm… 97 comments!
“I wasn’t planning on running for mayor, but as conflicts arose in our city, especially regarding social justice issues, it became apparent that we didn’t have leadership that understood the changing demographics in the city… It was just unacceptable. It was the last straw for me, and I recognized that we needed leadership that is going to be understanding of problems within our community and how to work through those problems… We’re currently working on a diversity, equity and inclusion resolution that I hope we’ll be bringing forward soon. It will reach out to those who normally wouldn’t seek employment at the city level and businesses that don’t know how to apply for government contracts. We’re essentially providing an equity base for them.”
