At a Zoom townhall forum that Dr. Jose Moreno, councilman for District 3, hosted on Monday, May 11th, Greg Garcia, the Interim City Manager, told the online audience that the Anaheim Chamber of Commerce was behind efforts to legalize cannabis businesses within the City of Anaheim.
Revelations about the Chamber’s role in this matter, which up until now has been kept hidden from the public, was brought to the forefront by questions The Anaheim Investigator posed to Garcia during the forum. The Investigator specifically wanted to know who helped craft the proposed cannabis ordinance.
“We did put together a team internally of city staff and we also utilized some consultants to help us with the drafting and looking into other jurisdictions and run an analysis for us,” Garcia replied.

Like I wrote last week, “SOME entity or entities exercising control over the Anaheim Council really, suddenly, wants to bring legalized, regulated, taxed cannabis dispensaries into the heretofore SQUARE city of Anaheim.”
Well, now we see that entity is the Chamber, the most usual suspect when it comes to giving the Council strict orders. It seems a little surprising that Greg Garcia would admit that when up till now they seemed to be trying to hide their fingerprints. Is Greg looking to get the Zapata treatment? Anyway, Duane says he has other proof it’s the Chamber, that he’ll be publishing soon.
So that’s why Lucille and Jordan are being so insistent and enthused. I assume if Duane hadn’t publicized THE ROHAN PROBLEM, Harry would have been right on board as well, with some kind of justification. And Stephen would have made a lot of faces and finally reluctantly voted yes on some kind of pretext.
Where would the fifth vote have been? Would Trevor have unexpectedly pulled out a speech detailing how he had always been in favor of legalized cannabis? Or would they have had to depend on convincing Jose, and giving him whatever concessions he could wring out of them?
It’s hilarious to see Jose in such a position of power, thanks to KRIS MURRAY’s 2/3-vote-on-taxes measure!
But as Fitzy reminds us, let’s not get distracted – this is far from Anaheim’s biggest problem. Hopefully though, it’ll hurt a few re-elections and help a recall.
Hey, you guys smell that?
Smells like fish flip flopped its way onto the banks of hypocrisy and died.
Ewww…. rank.
Does it occur to anyone that this HAS to have been approved by Disney?
I wonder if the idea is to get people to come to Disneyland stoned. It just might work!
