“Unpaid Bill” Brough — the nickname derives from his reneging on his mortgage payments, as reported by The Liberal OC — continued his impressive record of ducking appearances with his AD-73 opponent Wendy Gabriella, by refusing to appear on an Oct. 6 televised forum sponsored by Cox Communications, a popular Cable service in South County. Assembly District Candidate Bill Brough Fails to Attend Cox Communication Forum: Forum Cancelled
Laguna Niguel – Assembly Candidate Wendy Gabriella and her opponent Bill Brough were invited to attend a Candidates Forum on October 6th hosted by Cox Communication. The Gabriella campaign received notice today that Bill Brough failed to RSVP by the deadline. According to the policy set by Cox, the event would be cancelled if both candidates did not attend.
“I was looking forward to participating in the Candidates Forum and the cancellation is unfortunate. Voter outreach has been an extremely successful focus of our campaign. The forum would have given voters the opportunity to hear where my opponent and I stand on important issues facing California and South Orange County such as the state budget, economic development, the water bond, and toll lanes,” Wendy Gabriella said. “The forum hosted by Cox Communications is an extremely important service to the constituents of Assembly District 73. It’s a shame Bill Brough can’t make time for the voters he hopes to represent.”
Cox Communications hosted a Candidates Forum before the June primary and out of the 5 Assembly District 73 Candidates, only Wendy Gabriella and Anna Bryson accepted the invitation to participate.
Wendy Gabriella has been a teacher at Irvine Valley College for 25 years and she practices law specializing in the California Open Meeting Act. Wendy is a single mother and resides with her daughter in Laguna Niguel.
California State Assembly District 73 includes the communities of Aliso Viejo, Coto De Caza, Dana Point, Laguna Niguel, Mission Viejo, Rancho Santa Margarita, San Clemente, and San Juan Capistrano.
