On this weekend, as we enter the Chinese Year of the Horse, there is just too much to — oh, I already said it in the title. Saturday Feb 1 and Sunday Feb 2 of 2014 present us with a difficult triage – an enviable triage of pleasant productivity and convivialness. What will you do, and what will you wistfully forgo? Let’s start with two things *I*’m not missing:

THE SANTA ANA ART WALK

OJ friend and Santora artist Matt Southgate writes:
Sincerely, Matt Southgate, Studio Del Sotano,
The African-American march down the Center Street Promenade in Anaheim…
And there’s more… (to come)

Talk about … whatever that guideline is that Greg sets. All I know is I expect and want Skallywag to come running to this thread with whatever latest nonsensical outrages he finds on the right-wing blogosphere so that Anon and Anonster can have fun debunking him; and I also expect some entertaining and trippy videos from BigBoxOfRedWhine.
This has been Vern.
As a certain local blogger has apparently settled on a program of trying to start maximally vicious fights between Tom Tait and Lorri Galloway — while the third candidate in the race can lounge on the sidelines for a while as she recovers from being outed once again as a shameless liar — I think that he need to generate a new nickname for this writer and his stablemate to reflect the real horse they have in the race.
Ladies and gentlemen, I give you “Dan Kringielewski” and “Matt Kringingham” — the pair that thought they were being too clever for anyone to figure out their sordid game.
Dan’s not that complicated or smart – I really think he really thinks he’s really helping Lorri. We’re not all 19th-dimensional chess players like you, Greg!
I see, Vern: you’re playing the Kleptenmeier Gambit there. Very crafty.
Kleptenheim. Pretty funny. Klepto’s Home by The River.
From an Amazon critique of the book:
“I like this book because it talks about Anaheim history on a level that is not so complicated and detailed that it becomes boring.”
I am struggling to understand why Donna Acevedo’s support matters to Tait OR Galloway. I know there were two people killed in a short period of time in Anaheim. One was unarmed, the other riding shotgun in a stolen Lexus, fled and opened fire on police. I understood that to be Joel, Donna Acevedo’s son.
So I have to be serious and ask why does this woman’s endorsement matter? Has she set out on an anti-crime, anti-gang crusade, in addition to creating better policing policies? Does she vote? Can she vote?
I am seriously questioning this whole exercise by Dan Chmielewski, whom I don’t particularly care for, but more so, why you two would take the bait and engage him. That’s a Lou Correa move: Rookie Mistake.
I mean no disrespect to this lady, but unless, I am wrong, WHO CARES WHAT SHE THINKS. That does a disservice to the Anaheim’s hard working law abiding residents.
“Does she vote? Can she vote?”
“That does a disservice to the Anaheim’s hard working law abiding residents.”
What. The. Fuck. Buddy.
On what possible grounds can you dare assume that she can’t vote and that she’s not law abiding?
You are so missing the whole point here. Statements like yours are a big part of the problem. Get it together.
A simple yes or no would suffice.
Rational reasoning “misses the point”?
Since ehen is pointing and firing a .40 caliber weapon in the dark a good idea?
I assume NOTHING Ryan, thats why I ask. If you think I am race baiting you are wrong. There are many reasons people don’t or can’t vote, apathy anf laziness I put at the top.
For the record, the law abiding trsidents I mention don’t roll around in stloen SUV’S with gang members. At least in my world.
Dude, you can’t ask those questions. You have NO basis to form the assumptions that lay the foundation for the question.
“Since ehen is pointing and firing a .40 caliber weapon in the dark a good idea?”
What? (Are you referring to the DA’s letter that includes an officer’s statement that he shot at a shadowy figure? That’s what it sounds like.
“There are many reasons people don’t or can’t vote . . .”
Actually, there are very few reasons a person can’t vote. Three actually. They’re not a citizen, they’re not of age, or a they’re a felon. That’s it. You’re unqualified to make that claim.
Dude, you’re taking the word of a cop – now disappeared – who’s shot at at least three fleeing young men, and killed two of them – as backed up by a DA who never doubts killer cops, and duly reported by the slavish OC media. There are plenty of witnesses and evidence suggesting that kid didn’t fire shit that night. Check back in a half a year or a year.
And yes, she fucking votes and so do her kids.
OK. well, I haven’t yet found a funny HORSE video, is a mammoth close enough?
Once you get to the tac.tv page, there’s loads more. Try ‘The Moose’ and ‘The Martians’ or go browse! Some are en francais, I think they come from Canada, still funny! (Eh?)
Oh, and Anaheimers might find THIS interesting from the Agenda for Tuesday- the Charter Change Ballot Measures are up for approval for the June ballot, and underneath the boring titles (“Just a cleanup, a technical cleanup”) I noticed a few things that perhaps would get (and deserve!) MORE attention if the Ballot titles reflected their contents, things like-
-Cutting the Mayor’s term from 4 to 2 years (Gee, less continuity, more chaos, more OPPORTUNITY!)
– Making the Treasurer a City Manger Appointment (Doesn’t the Council (aka Public) appoint / confirm now?)
– Allowing Treasurer and Finance Director to be the same person (see above)
-Allowing ‘Safe and Sane Fireworks
Just the kind of things you want on a JUNE ballot, with LOW turnout! Wasn’t THAT a consideration of the District Settlement, and Didn’t the Bell change to Charter City use that Strategy to minimize ‘inconvenience’? Nyah, this is only, a “Technical Cleanup”, right?
I need to revisit the Charter Review Committee tapes this weekend, perhaps you, too?
Boy, in Anaheim, when it rains,it pours…OOPS!
Wow. that sounds like a lot packed in to one weekend.
I wish there was a Football game on though!
Do you really need us to report on the existence of the Super Bowl for it to be validated?
nah. just being a smart ass. But, I didn’t know stuff here serves as validation.
hey, speaking of which. I heard you are getting a reputation. The communications department at CSUF in a class, had an exercise, having to do with politics. SQS was an example. Since most kids use the internet for research these days, it shouldn’t surprise anyone that one student pulled up HUNDREDS of examples from FFFF posted by: you got it:
Greg Diamond!
I guess it led to a long drawn out discussion on new media and it’s relativity, reliability and effectiveness. Hey, you could be famous someday!
Good. Can I get a copy? I don’t know if Sharon has seen most of them.
I will ask my niece and her boyfriend who told me this.
The losers were supposed come over for Super bowl, but like most flaky college kids they blew us off!
I’ll ask .
“According to The Washington Post, at a recent meeting of the Council of Chief State School Officers (CCSSO), one of the organizations that created the Common Core State Standards (CCSS), Huckabee urged state education officials to get rid of the “Common Core” name because it has become “toxic.” As the Post indicates, however, Huckabee still intends to support the standards. “Rebrand it, refocus it, but don’t retreat,” Huckabee reportedly told CCSSO members.”
What Huckabee doesn’t get is that once you give liberal bureaucrats any type of authority they will use that authority to bastardize and twist a program to their own ends.
The year of the Horse….you better already be running full speed by now or this Year will leave you in the dust.
*The year of the Wooden Horse….tells us that work with structure will be highlighted. Everyone will have to work hard and find targeted goals.
Philip Seymour Hoffman, age 46, was found dead this morning in his apartment in Manhattan’s West Village, reportedly a heroin overdose.

http://www.nytimes.com/2014/02/03/movies/philip-seymour-hoffman-actor-dies-at-46.html
I don’t know why I’m so shocked, even more so than by the similar deaths of actors younger than him, but I am. Maybe it’s because his death leaves so much enormous talent on the table.
FUCCKK I loved that guy. Heroin? He seemed like he had it together too.
Reportedly, he had been clean for 23 years, up until last year.
A heroin overdose sometimes seems to be a “semi-suicide” — sort of like Russian Roulette with opiates. That may be the case here. Hoffman certainly seemed like a depressive to me.
Do you think he smoked a joint before self medicating with unregulated and unsafe street opiates?
Or maybe drank a cocktail.
This is the year of the horse – “horse” is a common slang term for heroin ….. just say in’.
Too much to do to is right. Taking Donna to 2 of the functions you wrote about is a cruel and painful joke. You are disloyal and a liar. There are othrrs you are cheating with as well. Since you keep avoiding me I feel this blog is the only thing you are honest about Vern.
Forsooth, Vern, for thou art such a cad!
I hurt the one I love. I apologize to Paula.
Most of do Vern.
The treachery on the blogosphere is especially brutal!
Dan C post on Donna is obnoxious. The guy is not stupid, although many think so. He raises good questions about political opponents, but from an extremely partisan viewpoint, to the point of distorting or ignoring facts. His pro-“business” views especially on Anaheim, make his meetings with Pringle appear more than “speed train” conversations. He has become Matt C’s replacement
Obnoxious? Yep, but it goes beyond that. He seems to be on a race to the bottom with his pal Cunningham.
Tait mourns the loss of an endorsement accompanied by a picture of the woman in question mourning her dead son.
Despicable.
We tried writing a story about what Dan did, but that upset Donna too… so we took OURS down.
There is no point in any of it. Pointless to the point of complete pointlessness.
Except people can now see what a complete tool this creep is.
I response to Bill O’Reilly and the IRS being accused of targeting conservatives President Obama said he “did not recall” meeting with then IRS Commissioner Doug Shulman, who had been to the White House more than 100 times. The IRS admitted last May that it targeted conservative groups.
Any time a politician says that he or she “does not recall” you know that there is a heap of lying going on.
Current events test:
1. (A) “Been to the White House to meet with staffers on legitimate business” or (B) “been to the White House to meet with the President”?
2. (A) “Targeted conservative groups” or (B) “targeted groups that announced plans to break the law, who happened to be disproportionately conservative (while also targeting liberal groups who didn’t, in an apparent attempt to be even-handed)”?
Answer sheet: 1. A, 2. B.
Shulman visited the White House to meet with staff that many times because the IRS is the freakin’ administering agency for the ACA!
Just how much of a non-story those visitor logs unearthed by The Daily Caller were was quickly exposed.
Any time a politician says that he or she “does not recall” you know that there is a heap of lying going on.
…unless it’s Reagan in his Altzeimer’s-stricken second term.
I am now going to request from ALL of you here:
Please don’t bring up Dan C’s post about me. This feels like he dug up Joey, gathered up an audience (all of you), threw dirt at Joey, then buried him again. Let my son rest in peace now. Thank you.
OK.
I don’t see anything unfair, wrong or unseemly with Dan’s article – some people just don’t like what it factually puts forth.
You heard the lady, skally. Shut up now.
A Trillion Dollars and Two Million Jobs Lost: Obamacare Increases the Deficit After All, CBO Admits –
“The new healthcare law will slow economic growth over the next decade, costing the nation about 2.3 million jobs and contributing to a $1 trillion increase in projected deficits, the Congressional Budget Office said in a report released Tuesday. The non-partisan group’s report found that the healthcare law’s negative effects on the economy will be ‘substantially larger’ than what it had previously anticipated,” reports The Hill. “The CBO is now estimating that the law will reduce labor force compensation by 1 percent from 2017 to 2024, twice the reduction it previously had projected. This will decrease the number of full-time equivalent jobs in 2021 by 2.3 million ..”
http://www.openmarket.org/2014/02/04/a-trillion-dollars-and-two-million-jobs-lost-obamacare-increases-the-deficit-after-all-cbo-admits/
Bullshit! Just more MINDLESS, right-wing, nut cake Obama bashing.
REALITY CHECK, the ACA is doing exactly what it should be doing; freeing people from employer based healthcare. Anyone who supports entrepreneurship should be applauding.
From the NYTimes;
“What the CBO really said is that, as a result of Obamacare, Americans will choose to stop working jobs simply to receive health coverage. Some might see that as a good thing, as the Times spelled out.
The new law will free people, young and old, to pursue careers or retirement without having to worry about health coverage. Workers can seek positions they are most qualified for and will no longer need to feel locked into a job they don’t like because they need insurance for themselves or their families. It is hard to view this as any kind of disaster.”
Spin … pure, unadulterated bullshit spin.
Easy for you to say. And that must be why you say it.
Uh oh skally, you’ve been DUPED AGAIN! Don’t you righties EVER get tired of being made fools of by your “news” sources?
From the CBO’s Director Douglas Elmendorf himself (via Huff post);
President Obama’s health care reform law isn’t going to kill 2.5 million jobs, Congressional Budget Office director Douglas Elmendorf told the House Budget Committee on Wednesday.
One day after multiple media outlets misinterpreted a CBO report on Obamacare, Elmendorf clarified the CBO’s position during the hearing. The federal agency, Elmendorf said, had found Obamacare “spurs employment and would reduce unemployment over the next few years.”
“When you boost demand for labor in this kind of economy, you actually reduce the unemployment rate, because those people who are looking for work can find more work,” Rep. Chris Van Hollen (D-Md.) asked Elmendorf.
“Yes, that’s right,” Elmendorf responded.
Yoohoo, look at this — the official CBO rebuttal to the GOP talking point that Obamacare would eliminate 2.5 million American jobs:
The burning smell of what is left of skally’s credibility (when posting about politics, at least) is acrid.
It really seems to me that people leaving jobs that they no longer need will actually CREATE more jobs for the people who are looking for work, won’t it? How does this not actually REDUCE unemployment rather than the opposite? The Dems should be bragging about this.
We have bragged about it — just two months ago I wrote something here containing the phrase “take this job and shove it!” This change basically undercuts wage slavery or modern-day serfdom. That’s what has the skally’s of the world recoiling.
That is one problem with this report – it does not give an estimate of net/net effect on total jobs/working hours.
Listening to Murray, Eastman and Kring at tonight’s council meeting on the districts resolution was infuriating. Murray claiming that taxpayer monies were saved by settling the lawsuit now and not earlier. The three of them stated their opposition to districts councils using arguments such as avoiding balkanization, maintaining democracy and keeping the CVRA from ripping off cities.
Maybe they were trying to appease the Keith Olsen and Todd Ament types, but they overdid it, especially Kring. She went to the extreme of saying that there are only three strong latinos in our community, the plaintiffs in the lawsuit, and If we loose the election, nobody else would dare to challenge the voting patterns.
Mayor Tait disagreed with their arguments, and guess who did not say anything, except to second the Mayor’s motion to accept the settlement? Yep , Dan C’s hero, Jordan Brandman.
Kring said WHAT?
Transcriptionist, please answer the red phone!
Did you not see her retort against districts at the OCGOP Central Committee meeting? Wasn’t that far off from what’s above.
“If we [lose] the election, nobody else would dare to challenge the voting patterns”
This is incredibly stupid and I will be pleased, if necessary, to rebut it with gusto.
I’m not clear on who the “we” in her statement is.
But maybe she is saying that no other plaintiffs will raise this matter again legally if the voters go for district based, city-wide candidates.
I deleted the comment I posted because I had read it wrong. Ricardo’s use of “we” referred to those aligned with the plaintiffs — who, if the election doesn’t lead to by-districts, she thinks will never sue over the issue again.
I was going to say that she’s nuts, but she’s merely gravely mistaken. If Anaheim were to institute any illegal policy that happened to suit the popular will, anyone with standing could still sue notwithstanding the election. This campaigning against the settlement agreement as a basis for disregarding public opinion from the Council dais would be unnecessary to raise in court, because illegal is illegal no matter how many people vote for it, but it would certainly ice the cake.
Eastman also did a good job, once again, schooling us on how she knows things we don’t because we are stupid.
It’s pretty dead on your blog this week. Where’s the pulp in this weak juice?
I attended this yesterday. The outreach is still very new, as of yesterday only 9 days into it. You should all attend.

The City of Anaheim recognizes homelessness can evolve from events such as the loss of a job, lack of family support, or serious illness, though for some being homeless is a choice. Those seeking help are invited to review Coming Home Anaheim, the City’s approach to addressing homelessness, which includes developing shelter options, human services, and more.

Is that the guy with too many women or you? LOL
Black activists and politicians force Trader Joe’s grocery out: Claim it would attract too many whites.
The Portland Development Commission offered a substantial discount to the grocery chain for a two acre parcel of land that appraised for $2.9 million. The land, which sat undeveloped for years, was offered to the chain for $500,000 in an attempt to bring high paying jobs and prosperity to the neighborhood. The construction project was promised to an African American owned construction company.

As I recall, Ben Swann is several parsecs away from being a reliable source.
